I swear Congo was released as well. The reason Congo was so over hyped at the time was due to sharing the same author as Jurassic Park. They were hoping lightning would strike twice.

Shadowhawk is based on the Shadowhawk comic from Image comics and it was incredibly popular during the early 90's, many times being a top 10 sold comic on the sales charts (sometimes even the # 1 most sold comic). It's a very hard PG-13 comic (almost rated R at times) about a superhero who breaks the spines of criminals (he breaks spines, criminals can't walk again). As for Prime, his comic came out during 1993 from Malibu comics under it's Ultraverse line of comics and for a short while his comic was very popular, doing extremely well on the sales charts. Malibu got acquired by Marvel comics a few short years later and started publishing the Ultraverse characters like Prime. However, a lot of behind the scenes chaos led to Marvel being forced to throw all the Ultraverse characters like Prime in a permanent vault (let's just say they owe royalties to many of the Malibu creators) and they won't ever use them again.

Shadowhawk was an Image comics character from the early 90s that didn’t quite have the same success that a lot of other Image comics had from around that time. I believe he was technically a Malibu comics character initially so it somewhat makes sense that there were almost Shadowhawk and Prime games since they both would have been affiliated with Malibu Comics.

No ShadowHawk had nothing to Malibu Comics. Malibu was just publisher of Record for Image in its founding days. ShadowHawk is a creator owned property by Jim Valentino and Shadowline his studio from the Image Umbrella. He was one of the founding fathers. But he also wasn't that large even prior to Image. His biggest work at Marvel was 90s Guardians Of The Galaxy prior to 92 and the forming of Image.

Prime was a 90s comic from Malibu--part of a brand called Ultraverse, i think. Shadowhawk was an Image comic from Jim Valentino. He debuted in Rob Liefeld's Youngblood series.

Prime was kind of like Capt. Marvel from DC Comics, he was published by Malibu Comics under their Ultraverse imprint, but I think someone already mentioned that. I didn't know there was a Super Nintendo port of the game, I remembered there being a Sega CD one though. Shadowhawk was published by Image Comics in the 90s, created by Jim Valentino. I saw footage of this game at some point in the past and thought it looked pretty cool. Really a lot of these games looked pretty cool, while others were...well, they were something. Really fun video as always!!!

The amount of marketing Congo got was a bit expected. It was based on a Michael Crichton book, so coming just a couple of years after Jurassic Park they figured anything with his name attached would make big dollars. It didn't do too badly, but I don't think there were many people flocking to the theater for repeat viewings.

Prime was a comic book published by Malibu Comics under its Ultraverse imprint and shared universe of characters, which was briefly popular in the 1990s, it followed an adolescent boy who could transform into a superhero named Prime, similar to Shazam. The Ultraverse imprint was acquired by Marvel when they bought Malibu and occasionally had them crossover with their characters, Marvel ended up cancelling the Ultraverse titles in 1996.

Shadowhawk was another indie comics character from the early 1990s published by Image, created, written, drawn and owned by Jim Valentino. He was a masked vigilante anti-hero who would punish by breaking their spines and crippling them (brutal, man...). The biggest surrounding the character was that in his first two mini-series his secret identity was left unrevealed, with readers given clues to figure the mystery themselves, until in his second mini-series he was revealed to be Paul Johnstone, an African-American former district attorney who was HIV+. After the identity was revealed, the mystery was gone and much the hype surrounding the character had dissipated.

There was a Bobby's World computer game there's a LOT of Bobby's World SNES cartridges out for sale for like $10 out there but I guess it could be a home brew. Congo was a HUGE movie in the 90s - the static at the beginning is the opening scene of the game. Yes, Prime was a comic book. from Image Comics. Shadow Hawk was also an Image Comic in the 90s.
@andressigalat602
@andressigalat602 13 күн бұрын
Prime was not from Image, it was from Malibu, part of their Ultraverse line. Your confusion may come from Malibu being the company that published the Image comics at the very begining, but then the Image creators decided to take their comics from Malibu and create their own company. Malibu then decided to create their own universe to fill the gap Image left, and the Ultraverse was born. A pretty interesting universe, writer-based instead of artist-based like Image, so the characters and stories were a lot more interesting.

Prime was a character from the Ultraverse published by Malibu Comics, it was Malibu's take on the Shazam/Captain Marvel idea of "young boy transforms into an adult superhero", it was pretty interesting despite its derivative nature. Marvel Comics bought Malibu in the late nineties, so they probably own all its characters, but they haven't done anything with the Ultraverse characters in all those years, I guess because something about owing royalties to the original creators.

I think about how many games go unreleased because the prototype came out, and it sucked so hard that the people gave up. Obviously that isn't all the cases. Some games didn't come out because Nintendo would limit how many games a company could release over a certain time period. In the NES days, Konami created "Ultra Games" so that the Konami company could sell more video games in one year by a technicality. In Europe, they created "Palcom" and did the same trick. There was an NES Robocop VS the Terminator game that was completed. It may not have been really impressive, but it certainly looked like it would have sold profitably. It had no significant bugs, controls were okay, graphics were okay, and sound was okay. It might not win an award, but people would at least rent one from Blockbuster for a weekend. 6:59 Something similar happenned for the NES. Sunsoft lost the rights to Superman. They created Sunman, but Sunman could do anything Superman could do. Also, I think some of the villains were chnaged a little.

I’m fairly certain that Tarzan isn’t public domain, or at least it wasn’t in not too distant past. Taito made an arcade game in 1982 called Jungle King that they later re-skinned with an explorer character called Jungle Hunt. I had heard the Burroughs estate made them change the game so it wasn’t a blatant Tarzan ripoff.

PRIME was a Malibu comic originally. I know this because I ended up picking up one of the early issues as a kid. Not bad at all!

I played through Bobby's World on stream one time and was so confused as to when it came out. Now i know my emulator has prototypes on it.

U unlock this console with the key of your imagination. Your traveling through another dimension of sight & sound, but did they exist? A journey into a wondrous land whose boundaries are that of imagination. There is a signpost up ahead. Your next stop...The SNES Zone!

great video! I definitely remember seeing screenshots for The Shadow game in progress, but I never followed its progress since it seemed like one of many boring super hero beat 'em ups of the time.

so do I, or want to say I did. And, if it did, that means we would ahve seen the SNES carts by now like Final Fight Guy. Alas, never did.

@@JohnRiggs The box art on the cartridge was Bobby on his big wheel smiling back at us. This was a real thing lol. You’re not crazy. There was also box art with him smiling with a cloud above his head saying Bobby’s World.

the U.S. version of Undercover Cops for the SNES was never officially released however what's strange is that I rented it from the video store back in 1994, so a U.S. version does exist, it's just extremely rare because only a few copies were leaked out.

Prime was part of the now defunct Ultraverse from the early 90s. Look it up and you'll understand why it didn't last lol

Much like Bobby's World for you, I SWEAR I saw Lobo for sale at Wal-Mart in late 1996.

I'm right with you on the Bobby's World thing. I feel like I saw it for rental and saw a commercial for it where Bobby sound clips were commenting on the game clips.

The Shadow looked great. Very similar to Streets of Rage. Why they would cancel it is beyond me.
