I’m 12, and I enjoy writing short stories. I showed some of them to my ELA teacher, and she said that I should try self publishing, so this video helped a lot! Thank you! Edit: I’m sorry to everybody who’s been waiting for me to say that I’ve published, but I’m a really slow writer. I’ve decided to not go with the short story from school, and instead write a completely new book. This one won’t be a short story, it will be an average size book, so that is another reason why it is taking me so long to finish writing. I’m currently only 7 chapters into writing it, so this might take a little while. Also, thank you to everyone who has commented! It means a lot, and I wish you all luck. Edit 2: as I’m a pretty indecisive person, I just ditched that book and started writing a new one a couple days ago because I lost interest in the original. I’m currently a chapter and a half into this one, so we’ll see how far this goes. Sorry to keep everyone waiting for so long

Hey, Mandi! I left KZbin on autoplay and listened in on this tutorial. Nice job! At 16:34, you mention the ISBN and Publisher spot for ebooks. Did you know you could enter a publishing name and it'll replace the "Independently published" tag? Just a random fact. Now you can add Stone Ridge Books to your listing. I'm not sure it'll give you any huge benefit other than impressing the one random person who pays attention to imprints of ebooks.

Amazon KDP scammed me out of nearly $4000 dollars. They never provided the media promotion that I spent thousands on because Amazon did not accept my book and they knew Amazon did not accept my book. They weren't done they tried to scam me for $1100. to get a copyright that only costs $125. It was all scam.

I want the easy process of kdp to publish my book (or LuLu for the ease as well) but you mentioned in this series I can use LuLu to make my book available for sale on my own site. Selling my book on my own site is ideal for me! Please upload a vid on the steps to upload to my own site; with the legal concern/steps to sell also on kdp or use of KDP or LuLu to build my book. My main concern is that my book is written to help finance a HUGE goal I have for the mid-term future. The sales need to be substantial at 12.13 per copy. Any of your Awesome advice to do this is greatly appreciated. Keep up the Magnificent Work!

I published with KDP and ordered Author paperback and hardback copies to help promote the Novel. I had to reorder three times, and still, the box of books arrived with absolutely no packaging inside each time. Every book was floating in the mailing box and damaged. It happened three times. There is no way of contacting KDP with photographs of the damaged package and the damaged books. All I could do was return the books. So, I then published the novel with Draft2Digital. Their author copies arrived in tightly packaged boxes and in mint condition. Their printing is also quite superior to KDP - and they publish to many different outlets - including Amazon. Will I ever use KDP as my primary publisher and printer again - not likely! The last box of books I had to return forced me to cancel a full-on pre-booked promotion and left me with seriously diminished credibility. I trusted Amazon - they let me down big time. They cost me real income and a decent promotion and credibilty.

New quick question: I'm trying to determine the dimensions for my book cover, spine, backcover. My novel is 106K, and I think its roughly 350 pages, but I'm trying to use KDPs template to determine book length. Do I use 12 point Times New Roman font and doublespace it? Also, since I'm self-publishing, my interior title page will include title, my name, and publisher. Do I use IngramSpark and AMAZON KDP as my Publisher? Also, I plan to get a self-proprietor license for my imprint... since I don't have an LLC yet.
