I know everyone loves Maggie Mae, I was Only Joking, and I love those too. But to me this is the BEST song Roderick David Stewart ever recorded. Ahhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

@@bestpossibleworld2091 what a poignant analogy. Everything about this song is so heartfelt. I lived in the mountains with my ex husband, whom I was wholeheartedly in love with, and there were definitely lean times with no resources and snowed in for months. This song hits me to the core.

Great story. Wonderful guitars working. Vacationed last winter Rapid City N Dakota. Open fields, buffalo, snow, cold. Passed a lonely lodge middle of nowhere near the Badlands. Wanted to trudge over to see if Rod was there

The album, ‘Every Picture..’ is indeed a snapshot of my youth. Older bro introduced me to real rock. He passed in 2004. I still live his musical lessons. Rod is a big part. 👊

Always one of my favorite! I love Rod Stewart! When I was growing up my father loved Bluegrass music and played it all the time! This is almost a perfect combination! I have met a lot of bluegrass giants including Bill Monroe, the Osborne Brothers, Ralph Stanley,Rhonda Vincent, and so many others through the years, I finally get to see Rod in concert in a couple weeks. I don't have very good seats and know I will never meet him, but it is a dream come true! Love Rod Stewart more than any others! Can't wait to see him! A life long dream finally coming true! 💖⚽️☘☘☘☘☘

I have always loved Maggie Mae, but maybe I have heard it too much lately. This Mandolin Wind is my new favorite. Great song, haunting and deep. You want to hear the whole story: is she sick, will she be OK, is there a tragedy lurking in the future? What will you you do in future, you know she loves the sun.

I love how you play the song. I told you a few months ago. I didn't even know you played guitar. Wasn't until the covid hit that you and your daughter gave a free show to everybody out in the world. Your FaceTimed us. I was shocked. Then I got to see you doing this live so many put it up and again I was shocked and now here in playing it and I know it's real. You're actually playing the song with your guitar. It really is a great number of everybody. It's just that song. It's universal. Anybody can listen to whether you're a lover or not, a lover with it, just a person. Anything the song Will heal you. Thanks for sharing❤

When the rain came I thought you'd leave 'cause I knew how much you loved the sun But you chose to stay, stay and keep me warm through the coldest winter, I've ever known If the mandolin wind couldn't change a thing then I know I love ya Oh the snow fell without a break Buffalo died in the frozen fields you know Through the coldest winter in almost fourteen years I couldn't believe you kept a smile Now I can rest assured knowing that we've seen the worst And I know I love ya Oh I never was good with romantic words so the next few lines come really hard Don't have much but what I've got is yours except of course my steel guitar Ha, 'cause I know you don't play but I'll teach you one day because I love ya The coldest winter in almost fourteen years could never, never change your mind And I love ya And I love ya Lordy I love ya

“Mandolin Wind” is notable for being a song that is based solely on imagination, or is maybe inspired by cinema or literature, as opposed to any type of personal experience; the song’s backdrop is a harsh winter on the American prairie, something Stewart wouldn’t have had much firsthand knowledge of.
@MTMF.london Жыл бұрын
@@donb6474 Unless Rod himself told you that, I'd doubt it was based solely on imagination. A song and lyrics this deep could only have come from personal experiences of love and loss. BTW, Rod has been living in America since the 1970s and he could have visited many places including the prairie states.
