Your "Scrambling" technique is something all of us end up doing at some point. "I ought to put more paint on this brush, but let's just get a bit of this paint there... And there... And over there too." It's super useful too, because that texture can be fun, it's just risky for newer painters who don't have the bush control and end up getting too much of that color on the model because it's doing less than they want.

they look great dana, and im lovin the subtler uses for some of those speedpaints (filters, shadows, etc...). i have many of them, and tend to just use them to block out colours, so this is helpful.

While in D&D I tend to see Dark Elves as being a profoundly "civilized" people (albeit very evil, so much like most "civilized" countries), I also love the idea of Dark Elves that continue to serve the Unseelie fey the rest of their people rebelled against. So dark fairy aligned elves, that tread the shadowed boughs and trade in fear is certainly a mood.

Those look really good, I think I'll use this paint scheme as a starting point for a creepy paint scheme for my Deadzone Mazon Labs project. The cyborgs, especially, seem like they'd appreciate something like this. My sense is that a lot of what you're doing here to make it creepy is adding in opposite colors, no? The blue and orange against each other make it all look a little scary, right?
