You know, credit where credit is due. In a current video game climate of remasters, remakes and very low risks, I applaud a title like this for taking risks. Whether the game is good or not, I feel, is secondary to the fact that the devs have taken a wild risk with this. I can only hope they make enough money to justify their decision and that it'll hopefully give other devs a bit of confidence. In that case, I'll be buying it. I respect any attempt like this.

@Alex Sonne It’s actually very different gameplay wise from Hungry Shark World. The only actual similarities are being a shark that eats things. Man eater has some limited RPG elements and somewhat of an open world aspect as well as the ability to gain special traits for completing certain tasks. It also doesn’t have that rapidly-draining hunger-bar.

Reached Level 30 this morning. Going down the bone shark route. I’m addicted to say the least haha. This game is that of a popcorn flick. It’s made to have fun and not take itself serious which I love. It’s definitely a breath of fresh air to really just play something whacky. I’m enjoying the humor from Chris Parnell too.

This Game is Solid, they definitely can get a sequel going with more detail, can add enemies like Krakens, dolphins, red squids etc. give you access to more continents and countries like Africa coast and rivers, Australia, and even add some under water stations to attack the divers building and exploring until you reach Meg Status and then you can just attack the underwater stations and submarines themselves, this game has a lot of potential

@@JayRdgz94 It got pretty convoluted some times, figuring out where to go and what to do. I think I might have gotten some tips from like a magazine back then, but most of it I figured out through hours of trial and error. Guess I must have been around 13 back then. There are also parts with obstacles and enemies that just are so hard and kind of unfair, where sometimes you manage to narrowly slip on by, but mostly you die. And then there's the horrible sound that Echo makes when he gets hurt, to stress you out even more :-0

almost finished with the story. about 12 hours in and still loving it. im a level 30 mega now, so no one can really hurt me. I have the electric set and bone set, working on shadow set. Not being able to back out of the options menu isn't exactly a bug, more just a design error. If you press left on the d-pad/joystick to return to the branching menu options you can back out from there.

Encountered the B bug my self, also the detaching from the surface has been my ONLY gripe so far (I am now level 22). FUNNY story, I found the game to be VERY difficult up until I was level 12....do you know why? Because I did not understand that you could UPGRADE the parts you unlock! So here's a tip for those who love, and want to repeat it, do not upgrade your parts, it becomes a wet n' wild, almost, souls-like game with you timing enemy lunges, dodging, going in for three bites (NEVER more) or two bites and whip (or evade depending on your fin upgrade). Once I upgraded I actually started enjoying the game more and exploring more because I felt safer to do so! Another combat tip is ALWAYS look out for fish to throw on the targets you are focusing on, it changes the fight 100% in your favour. Also, never turn your back on an Orca.... This game is a no-brainer for shark fans, it is unique and for that, alone, it deserves major kudos.

Good review! In my opinion, this is a proof-of-concept kind of game. It's an indie game on an indie budget, and it can serve a small market similar to the Postal games and others where mindless killing (in a tongue & cheek way) is enough to sustain the game play experience for however long (or short) it is. I hope it does well enough to warrant a more fleshed out sequel, and especially, silly spin-offs with other animals.

God, this just looks awesome. When a game like this comes along, it makes you realize how stagnant and limited our expectations for games have become. Even making a change as basic as the species you're playing as opens up so many possibilities; it really gets the imagination going. These are freaking video games, man! Anything you could think of is possible, and yet we get clone after clone. I'm so glad this team had the opportunity to see this idea through to completion, and I hope it is wildly successful so that other game makers wake up to the freedom allowed by this medium.

It's fun and it's one of those games that you will want to keep downloaded for a long time because when you have friends over you can take turns eating people. Hammer head sharks have electro reception, meaning that they can sense electric impulses in muscles of fish theire close to. Basically they can see through any attempt at stealth. (Yes I *did* learn this from TierZoo). Basically, they have the ability of so many VG characters of being able to "sense" where people are, when sneaking around. It's actually crazy to me that someone hasn't thought of making this kind of advanced animal RPG before. o.o (Especially considering the popularity of TierZoo)

I have a worse glitch in the settings menus. I can't even back out of the settings with the keyboard let alone the controller, have to close the game anytime I change settings. Might only be with a controller plugged in I haven't tested it without.

The swimming animations looks lovely, however attack animations look absolutely awful! The speed of the attack animations leave it looking like there's huge gaps between attacks, thus looking like the shark is warping to impossible angles, it's nasty looking.

Like other comments are saying, it looks like the new and improved Jaws Unleashed, which was the last game made by Appaloosa Interactive before they closed down in 2006. Appaloosa also made the Ecco the Dolphin games. Maneater looks fun and I'm interested in trying it, but I'd really be hyped for a new Ecco the dolphin-like game (the 3D one).
