Maneater (PC, PS4, Xbox One) is a shark RPG that is totally awesome. We need more games like this - from development style to fun factor. Let me explain.

My god.... Let me tell you how HARD I yelled when I saw that there was ANOTHER dragon ball game. Not even a damn sigh like usual just pure anger. I like the game. It’s seems solid but the concept of remaking the same story or “Remastering” or a “Definitive” version isn’t what I want. We need a resurgence of multiple new games in the industry that can hit that tripleA mark. They don’t have to be perfect, just flesh out a good NEW story. Bro I’m just tired, my bad.

Completed it and got the platinum trophy on PlayStation over a period of 3 days. Very enjoyable, and as you said mindless experience, hilarious commentary, beautiful environments and scenery, diverse enemies and a somewhat enjoyable story also. Honestly I hope they do more with this game because it was definitely the most refreshing game I have played in a while and let's face it... who the hell doesn't enjoy sharking around? You get to jack up some lake placid type Alligator, Jaws, Free Willy and Moby Dick in that order and boy is it fun.

I completed it 100% in about 2 days. But those two days were about 11 hours worth of playing. Yeah it’s not long and I enjoyed the different style of it. I enjoyed every second of it and it’s not too taxing if you wanna start again. There is an end point to it which is great. Games lack that with repetitive side quests, constantly farming even though it’s the same thing. This gives you a goal you work towards and it’s achievable and gives you a sense of being a badass without being overbearing and giving you tonnes of objectives to get there. Something you can turn your brain off to and enjoy the living crap out of. Jake man. You’re right on the money with this one. Maneater is gold and a refreshing change of pace for gaming nowadays. Glad I got it.

There is a way to finesse the camera in this game, I found when ever I dodged and moved the camera with the dodge or try and always keep the enemy on your screen to be extremely useful as the camera will typically try and stay on your shark. Move fast, dodge and keep pace is the shark.

One thing that I definitely appreciate with the AI of the people characters in the game, how the NPC‘s will freeze up and just float still in the water as you swim full speed ahead towards them. Even if you’re not attacking them, they are petrified with shock in fear so much that they cannot swim away. That’s pretty much the realistic reaction to just about anybody in the real world if you were to see a 30 foot marine predator hurdling your way from just tens of meters away, your subconscious says “Yeah, I’m fucked.”
@Zenith-ly7pr4 жыл бұрын
Loving the consistent content! If I may, I think when you're talking about a specific thing in the game (Ex: tail whip off the boat or introing the funny lines) you should show us a clip of it on screen so we can better visualize what you're talking about!

been watching gameranx videos for years and I don't recall you mentioning your own channel, it was actually the maneater video that made me look it up because I was curious to see your opinion on it. I've been semi-interested in the game for a while, but also semi-unsure. Anyway you've gained a new sub man, I do like your opinion on games, it's not too dissimilar to my own personal taste. The only thing I would say is... there have been games I've been mega hyped about and wanted to know a bit more about, JUST a bit, so I've found myself holding back from the before you buy videos on those games because.. well I don't mind a certain level of spoilers to an extent, but I feel like they're maybe just a bit too spoilery for me, that's just a personal thing though, others might find it not enough! That's my only gripe otherwise I'm glad they exist!

I definitely agree. Double A games are probably much needed now more than ever. With all the big games that come out and with the things that are tied to them (microtransactions..) it’s nice to have these games to kindve mix it up and to have fun with them! I can turn my brain off and play these with a lot less time and emotional taxing as opposed to destiny or even call of duty.

As a Ace Combat Veteran and Fan, it's true, we need more AA Titles. I had loads of fun in my eigth hours with ManEater and the additional 6 in the Truth Quest DLC. To the end, since I 100% the game, getting and killing the bounty hunters draged on and was very repetitive. But that is the only complaint I got for it. Loved all the Eastereggs with the Landmark Signs.

The only real disappointment I had was the look of the water. The people look a little cartoony too, but for a 2020 game, I kinda expected the water to look a little better than it did. It wasn’t a deal breaker for me though, I still love the game and had a blast with it
