I’m adopted and I felt that when Cassandra said her family couldn’t help her. I was told so many times to brush my hair which would make it look worse, not better, or back in the day, super heavy products were all that was available. So thankful for people like Mell. Side note: most of my family had slightly wavy which has gone full curly as they aged so now they have to ask me what to do. So tempted to tell them to just brush it😂

Oh my, Cassandra is like a baby duck. You need to get a bit more calm babe 😅 it was a good first time but you should watch the video again all for your self. You need much more water so please buy yourself a spray bottle. Your hair dryes very fast und you need to buy you more time for styling and the current for that is water. I have experienced such sessions myself with clients and you will get into a routine. But you need to act more calmly. Slow down, calm down and so your curls will follow and calm down and relax (in a good curly way) as well. Trust the process 😁

The MOST important advice you gave Cassandra regarding her scalp is never sleep with wet hair and NO conditioner or styling products at the scalp. My doctor actually believe that I got seborrheic dermatitis was from sleeping with wet hair (I was a night shower).

Wait a minute. Cassandra said she’s been watching Mel for a long time. “Fairy godmother” and all that. So how does she show up for personal training with Mel herself but without a proper diffusing hairdryer? Why didn’t she know she should go out and buy one for the date? How?! Mel was so kind and patient but her eyes 😳 said it all.

Ok but when Cassandra talked about being told by a hair stylist who knows nothing about curly hair to BRUSH IT OUT and then put some EXPENSIVE OIL on it, she unlocked some memories from when I was like 11/12 and brushing my hair out with a boar bristle brush every morning and then coating just the top of it with ~~Exquisite Oil~~

Since watching Mel’s scalp care video a long time ago, I do not have issues with my seborrheic dermatitis any more. I searched online for years (like 10 years) and tried so many things some even made it worse. Dermatologist visits with not much change. What I’ve learned from Mel has worked: never sleep with wet hair. Use a clarifying shampoo, nyasol shampoo sometimes, and always diffuse until my scalp is dry, exfoliate with a treatment or even a brush in the shower with conditioned hair. And most of all curly girl method ain’t the best for everybody….and definitely not for a scalp with seborrheic dermatitis!!!

omg when Cassandra told her experience about Supercuts & how they just told her to brush & use some oil....brings me back to when they would say the same to me & how my cuts would always be uneven bc no one ever thought of the spring factor thats comes with curly hair!!
