Frizz doesn't look that bad on type 3 or type 4 curls. It looks the worst when you have wavy or a mix of wavy and curly.

Yes! Mine is more like Roseanne Rosanna Danna's. When I saw Mel's, my first thought if only my hair looked that 'bad' on a bad day.

I feel it doesn't look "bad" to us is because most of us have lived with frizzy hair and didn't know it. At least for me, I thought type 4 hair simply grew that way until I learned about hair types, proper hair care and everything in between (I'm Type 4 btw).

I’ve always struggled and had insecurities with my hair since I was a little kid. I was so amazed and envious by how beautiful everyone’s hair look like as well as how healthy they looked. I’ve wanted to become a hair stylist for years but I always felt so insecure and discouraged by how my hair isn’t healthy nor I did not even know where or how to start. Ever since I found your KZbin channel I became obsessed and changed my hair 180° by watching almost every video you posted! I have improved my hair so much and thanks to you and your seester Amanda you guys gave me the confidence and the courage to decide on going to a hair school next year. This may not be a big deal but honestly I wouldn’t have been so confident and feel so amazing if it weren’t for you two. I learned so much about my hair and learning more day by day makes me just fall in love with hair even more knowing that my curls can turn out to be healthy like yours and I truly appreciate it for all the videos and the effort you put in these videos! You’re my hero and forever will love your videos❤️ I hope that soon one day when I do peoples hairs and give them tips on how to help out their hair that they see results and learn more about their own individual hair just like the amazing Mel!!! Thanks again and I wish you and your sister gains more subscribers because you are honestly so underrated you deserve the best and more ❤️🥺

@@ManesByMell thank you for this video, I too just started on my journey. Unfortunately, just had my hair cut and the stylist although she advised as curly hair specialist did not give me the right cut. My hair is super short now and just looks like a big puff. You educating us and showing us that "its all good" litterally had me tearing. This was like a virtual hug that its okay to "love it all... keep taking care of it and it will be alright." I appreciate you and what you bring to this social media table. Your bloopers having me dying and another reason why I watch bc you aren't afraid of showing the "sillyness" that happens behind the scenes. That was the clue that led to me admitting I had wavy hair. Many of my hair's are my mostly straight. Some are actual curls that, well, curl and are springy and everything. So if I just air dry, brush, and attempt to wear my heart "straight" in the PNW I just get weird springy bits all over and frizz galore. The routine I just mentioned worked just fine when I lived in a desert though.

I have never dyed it or bleached, i have used excessive heat on my hair maybe 6 times tops in my entire life, but it still kinda seems damaged somehow and therefore almost always frizzy. This also makes it harder to determine what porosity my hair is... do you have any sort of advice or tipes :)

Adding Olaplex to my next sephora order! Thank you for all of your time and effort you put into teaching us how to care for our curls. Since I've adapted my haircare routine to specifically high porosity needs, it has really taken on such a life of it's own and I absolutely LOVE it now. I spent decades not knowing why things I was trying weren't working for me like they were for other people. Turns out, I was mostly using products best suited for low porosity instead and every thing I gained from one would basically just cancel out another. Now that you've educated "why" to use "what" and "when", it's been a total game changer!

That happens to me too!!! I find if I twist too much it will just be a random twist lol. The way mine works best is if it’s wet when I finger coil and then still scrunch scrunch scrunch until it coils! If the scrunch doesn’t work I will literally wrap it around my finger like you would a wand and hold until it stays then release and not touch until it dries. I mainly only take the time do that on my front pieces though lol

I'm latina and black. My hair texture is fine(very similar to yours), but the curl pattern is a little tighter. I got very useful tips from this video. As a matter of fact this gave me a little motivation to get back to my hair. I've been washing/detangling and throwing it in a bun for months now. Thanks!

Thank you for this video. I’ve been struggling with frizz recently and wondering about how to fix it because I have watched a ton of videos that mention frizz in the past year. So this was perfect timing for this video. I also appreciate seeing your hair product free as it helped clarify frizz. I get some ideas of people telling but I understand better with examples so thank you.

I actually really like your hair when it is frizzy. I'm starting to appreciate frizz all together. Am I crazy? x-) I think as long as hair is hydrated and healthy, a little frizz only adds to the unique texture. What do you think? Love your stuff, by the way! Thanks so much for sharing!!!

Does cold weather cause frizz? Do I need more or less moisture when it’s cold and humid? My hair seems to be really flat, dry, AND frizzy when the temp drops. Thank you for all your work!
@sara.m88

You need more moisture when it's cold because cold weather dries out the hair. When it's humid you need to focus more on styling products.

It may cause frizz yes because the hair becomes dry. Use a leave in conditioner and deep conditioner frequently.

Loving this video so much! It has made me realize I definitely need a hair cut, but I love my long hair. My hair is very fine and I get fairy knots very easily after day one. Any suggestions to help with those? Also, I love working out, but I do get sweaty and this impacts my frizz levels. Any suggestions to help with that would be great! Thanks so much!

I had straight hair as a kid until 5th grade. Got it cut to my shoulders in layers and it curled right up. I cried and cried. I have always hated my hair! I used a straightener on it all through school. For years I have washed everyday, every other day. I would go to bed with my hair wet wake up looking so crazy. Frizz not really any curls just a hot mess. I use to always wet my hair in morning to style. I was never taught a good way to take care of or style curly hair because no one in my family had crazy curly hair like mine. Since I found your KZbin channel I have learned so much about my hair and it's helped ALOT. My hair looks and feels so much better!! Thank you!!

Mel I have a question.. when I put product in my hair and I let it naturally air dry, I get 2b 2C waves. But when I put products in my hair and style my hair with DENMAN BRUSH, and also DIFFUSE, my curls are 3a 3b.. So I’m a little confuse as to what the natural texture of my hair actually is? Also why does this happen? Does the denman brush have the ability to change the natural texture of your hair ?
@aleksandralempart8305
@aleksandralempart8305 4 жыл бұрын
Too much product will weigh your hair down. Lightweight products can help with that. Denman will help distribute products evenly and remove fairy knots

How often should you apply a leave in conditioner? I wash and condition once a week. If I'm running errands maybe once a week I will wet my hair and apply a leave in conditioner then air dry. I follow a modified curly girl method I use a quality shampoo and conditioner and air dry and try to finger detangle .I don't like spending a lot of time on my hair.

Can a curly gal also have dryness if the ingredients may have drying effects from being used too often. Or will deep conditioning balance all that out. Hope that made sense lol thanks for another texture Tuesday 😁

I mean, I almost cried of relief. My wet frizz is ridiculous, and I’ve only found one video that addressed wet frizz specifically. My finished hair is good though. Working on getting it back to great, thanks to you! Why can’t I rake product into my hair and manipulate the hairs like so many others? My curls break up, get stringy and even more frizzy. If I rake, I ended up having the wooooorst hair day. Thanks for all the education!

My hair is totally a different texture than yours, but your videos are so thorough that it feels like your tips will help me too.
