Does anyone have a solution for light damage on the edge of pages? I only have 2 walls of 1 room as an option to store my manga on shelves, and light hits both of those, regardless of what I've tried :( Some of my manga has yellowed around the edges, even though it's only a year or 2 old, after moving into this space while I have other volumes that were on shelves elsewhere for over 10 years without yellowing at all
@camdaman16213 жыл бұрын
@@zimm2295 One technique that won't exactly protect it from light damage, but repair the damaged manga is sanding the edges of the manga that's yellowed until it looks fresh and new. apparently it works really well from what I have seen. I have also seen people bag their manga to protect the manga from light damage but I don't know how well that works.
@Flip_91FTW3 жыл бұрын
I started collecting just this month and wish I knew about sun light damaging manga. In hindsight that is such an obvious one but before I started collecting I bought some shelves and put them up not even thinking about that. about 20 volumes in so far and enjoying the hobby. One thing that helps me is going to B&N and flipping through books. I don't necessarily buy all books there, just some that aren't available online, and to somewhat support local businesses. But seeing books in person really helps me chisel down the books I choose to read. By doing that, I can eliminate a large percentage of the books I decided to pick up.

I recently got engaged into MAL, created an account and it really helps me to keep track of the manga/anime that within my circle. Also they have list of suggested manga/anime of each seasons. GOLD. Some of my fellow collectors protect their manga in a plastic box, but I really love to have my manga shown on my shelves rather than keep them in the box. 😔 Perhaps in near future, I could have my manga in a room with no/block windows. 😎

@EastCoastManga3 жыл бұрын
That’s a very unfortunate situation. Does the smoke enter your room? I’m not sure how far it travels in houses. If smoke or smoke smells enter your room they can attach to books very very easily and I’m not quite sure if it ever comes out fully. I used to run into that problem when I’d buy stuff from Pot heads. I know you said you don’t want to bin your books but if they’re easily accessible to the smoke than that’d be the safest bet.
