Aoi was done so dirty especially in her duel with Soulburner. The writers gave him a trap card that stops him from receiving 300 or less points of effect damage(the main gimmick of her deck) just so he wouldn't lose. Not to mention how brutal some of her losses were with her constantly landing on her head. She has a really interesting character being a nobody in the real world but a star in the virtual world and they could have done something neat with this if they didn't put her into a coma.

I'm still so pissed we never got to see Shun and Yuto interact with the "real" Ruri, nor see her duel, outside of flashbacks. Ruri had been teased since Season 1 and she has one of my favorite designs in the series.

Fun fact: in Yu-Gi-Oh duel link, Ruri and Rin get a bit more development/characterization, not much, but it's something... Also the the Yuto/Ruri teasing is just adorable in the game

The funny thing is that Rin's Image and Personality was tarnished a bit in Duel Links since we got to know what her true Personality is like in more detail. But then again, Rin wasn't a Character in Arc-V and, if she had been more recurring or had more screen time, she might have had that Personality that they gave her in Duel Links, becoming an annoying Character in the long run.

Duel links is probably not cannon, if it is Serena is a hypocrite because she a murderer thinks that Yuri is unforgivable because he carded so many people, when she at least upto the synchro arc only wished she had the same opportunity, the only difference between them is that Serena has way more respect for the people she kills eg she finds laughing at her victims disgraceful and that a duel needs to happen between two individuals before carding people happens, similar how in media sometimes a warrior will give a sword to a civilian so they can at least have a chance at life, even though the skill disparity is so large that it is only a formality.

She thinks they are unforgivable because they find fun in the "hunting game.", she fights because she(being practically brainwashed like most of academia) thought that what they were doing was right(also she wanted to prove her strength which she interpreted was underestimated by not allowing he to fight). Once she was told about the fucked up way that academia behaved, even carding bystanders, she understood it was wrong. And yuri was the most fucked because he did it JUST for fun(even was a bit of a sadist) with no regard for "the mission"

@@drakeredgrave6747 yeah although I don't believe she completely has thrown academia under the bus by the time the end of the pendulum arc finishes she just wants answers and is confused, after the tournament arc there is some dialogue between her and shun and co where there is a small delay in her response almost signaling that she is thinking about her response in order to prevent herself from being attacked. Also maybe I remember incorrectly it has been sometime but doesn't shun after defending dennis talk about weeding out the remaining academia spys meaning he doesn't believe that she has changed, assuming he isn't referring to other lancers.

Hey MangaKamen, thank you for doing this video and as someone who has watched the JP dub of Arc-V I feel that it had potential and it was wasted sadly. I pretty much agree with you on the wasted potential on the Bracelet Girls BUT did you know that there is a fanfic I found last year that is called “Bonds of Pendulum” by Frost 190 ? It’s 74 chapters and it’s an alternate retelling of the Arc-V anime starting from episode 86. That fanfic is so good because it fixes a lot of issues with not only the female characters but the male characters as well. I would highly recommend you give it a read when you have the time and it’s definitely better than what we got in the actual Arc-V anime.

It’s a massive shame to remember this series as having wasted potential on nearly all fronts, especially with Yuzu being arguably the closest thing to a female protagonist in Yugioh. At the very least, Duel Links helped characterize Rin and Ruri more and made me hate how they were done dirty in the anime.

As bad as Arc Vs ending was for the bracelet girls, at the very least they seem to all be doing well in Duel Links now. Seriously the cut-scenes in Arc V duel world in Duel Links feel like a huge apology for how bad Arc V turned out when it comes to granting closure. Still no justice for Masumi though

You know I was looking forward to this one ever since you began this series. I also figured that each of the 4 girls Yuzu, Serena, Rin, and Ruri had so much potential. But what did they do with them? Make them into damsel in distresses and then brainwashed into becoming servants to the bad guys. Which honestly I felt bad for them. Though if I were to take one good side to this.. it lead us to that amazing scene where Yuya goes berserk and summons Odd Eyes Raging Dragon for the first time. in Episode 125 I believe. Aside from that though. All the ladies needed more potential, more duels to be in, and of course a closure for all of them.

I think Yugioh Arc V has one of the strongest starts in the series. There was an interesting mystery, threat of dimensional warfare, and an engaging set of cast members. Heck I think it’s my favorite concept for a Yugioh series. And then it fell hard on its face after spending too much time on the Synchro Dimension and 5Ds nostalgia, leading to XYZ and Fusion Dimension arcs to try to quickly pick up the pieces and speed to the end. Thats why there was a lack of duels for most of the other characters aside from a few. So I have to say, I think I love the Yugioh Arc V’s general cast the most out of all the other ones. It’s just the story could’ve been a lot better post Synchro Dimension. Like fix Aster, try to do more with Kite, make Rin and Ruri more relevant after they were rescued, give Yuzu Pendulums, etc. (card game took seven years to finally give her Pendulums geezus) PS: even now the Yu-Boys and Bracelet Girls still have their own small dedicated fandom (myself included) creating fanfic, fanart, and cosplay. It’s very wholesome that there’s still people who love these characters so much and also a bit sad how about every single one was fumbled in the anime because they didn’t have enough time to bring them all back for the finale in a big bombastic final duel with ‘Ray’ vs ‘Zarc’ instead of having them be spirits except for Yuzu and Yuya.

There's a reason most look to fanfics when it comes to these girls... stuff like the Bonds of Pendulum series actually bothers to flesh out these characters (and fix the ending so that we're not stuck making a character who was regressed into a baby and thus lost all her development smile because she has the main villain sealed inside her now).

You're finally doing this & man it hurts how this & VRAINS have so many characters yet they get left in the dust because of the plot armor specific characters have & it gets worse if they're the female cast, heck I wish Yuzu developed more summoning methods like Yuya but the writers forgotten everything what happened before it jumped the shark & why I'll stand by that Yugioh & Kingdom Hearts have some of the worst written female characters I experienced in media & heck they also suffer the same issue by having a big cast yet some clearly get more focus compared to others, it feels like an unspoken rule for a Shouen like series & I hate it's like that because the female cast should be just as good & not left in the dust

Yugioh Arc V doesn’t make me angry when it comes to the characters, it’s moreso how the story was written. The plot could’ve been a lot better. Now Yugioh VRAINS…that’s the series that makes me the most angry at the way the characters were written and has possibly the most egregious character assassination in the entire franchise: Go Onizuka.

No matter what, I will never be able to judge Arc V objectively for two reasons: 1. I was not prepared. 2. It deceived me. I did not know when I watched Zexal that Yu Gi Oh had such almost completely separate plotlines between the shows, and this left me completely confused when Arc V seemed to completely ignore the previous series. Where are the Numbers? Where is Yuma? What was the great enemy he was about to fight in the finale (the dub didn't bother to mention it)? Did he and company win? Going along, I was about to accept that it was simply a different Canon, but here and there they gave me hope (a card named after Heartland City, the XYZ Dimension). When they brought in Kite, I was beyond excited. Finally they were connecting the shows, finally they were gonna tell me what happened to them all. And...It wasn't Kite. It was a much more mediocre and forgettable character with Kite's face and voice, there simply to hype fans. While I was too small to remember 5D distinctly, I had seen a couple episodes (remembering them incredibly fondly too) and so I got the vibe that with Jack Atlas it was the same, and I was right.

The fact that indoctrinated yuzu didn't get a duel is criminal, also the girls got merged so ray could put zarc in check mate and yuzu and yuya probably got chosen because they're just friends so she can keep an eye on him if he ever tries to come back, while Serena and Yuri would be pointless and ruri and yuto are infatuated with each other and ray would find the idea vile and although rin has friend zoned hugo, there is still the chance Hugo is able to convince her, unlike yuya who probably doesn't even like girls and even still probably would be friend zone as well so less risk.

55 episodes of the synchro arc is indeed not that bad..... IF!!! you can bench watch it but if you had to watch it week by week it was a chore to get trough, my thought are pretty much this 1 masumi is one of my favorite characters because i used to play gem knights myself and she was done dirty 2 asuka could have been a great counter to zarc with her rituals but no girls allowed i guess 3 mind controlled characters don,t need character development and the writers know this too darn well 4 rin is my favorite of the bracelet girls would be nice if she had more screentime 5 yuya and yuzu split back into the 4 yu-boys and bracelet girls off screen after the ending I do not care what anybody says 6 I don,t blame the animators with all the supposed garbage that was going on behind the scenes but I sure do blame the writers As for aoi, I honestly don,t know what is worse having your character development knocked out of you or being knocked into the ground anytime you get the smallest hint of character development, with vrains it felt as if the writers hated aoi, i mean the way she lost to spectre was beyond disrespectfull but good news now playmaker can swoop in and show how baddass he is..... aoi still went face first into he ground by an insane jackass who cried because his tree was burning, yeah i think aoi had it worse then yuzu and that,s saying something

I already talked about this in the Arc V video, so I’ll keep it short, All the main female characters were screwed over. But no one had it worse than Serena, such an amazing character (The best girl of the series) with a compelling backstory, personality, design and character arc only for it fall apart at the end. Toward the end of the series, she ends up kidnapped, brainwashed and had her last duel under said brainwashing, spent a few episodes in a tube and then dies. (Not really she fused with Yuzu along with her other counterparts, but I still count it.) The amount of disrespect Serena got is so infuriating, to this day I’m still angry about it. At least Duel Links was able to do her some justice, even if it’s not canon, but you can tell they care about Serena unlike the anime.

Sky Striker's Manga is an anomaly, but it wasn't hard for Yoshida to screw it up because: 1) Sky Striker's Lore was almost non-existent. 2) Japan was going to turn on him if he screwed up Raye, one of the most beloved Characters in Yu-Gi-Oh Lore.

Arc-V was pure wasted potential, I didn't hate the show, but I wish it was better. I once saw a video someone did where they made their own animatic of the ending they wish Arc-V had instead of the one we got, and it was honestly a better ending, it was basically an animatic of the previous main characters from the original series up to zexal going up against zarc, but it was still kinda fun to watch.

Arc-V definitely had a huge problem with a bloated cast. It doesn't help that they paced the show so badly with a long lasting tournament that seperates everyone and the entire Battle Beast arc. Both Yuzu and Serena did start off so well and it saddens me what happens to them later in the show. Rin and Ruri never got their chance to shine, they had to make up for all the lost time in Duel Links.

I actually just finished the series today. I may have low standards but I thought it was pretty good. Maybe I'm just happy that it's a massive upgrade from the pain that was ZEXAL. Sure the girls weren't amazing, but the main character wasn't nails on a chalkboard

The characters are fine apart from yuya because he's the leader of the cult of smiles. The pendulum arc was🔥 but the synchro arc had a few problems like yuya vs hugo and shun vs serena not happening even though they eluded to it, sora doing a 360 backflip on his personality, which came out of nowhere and was not welcome at least not that soon was stupid. Reiji thinking with his heart and not his brain resulting in Roget not seizing power, who shares the same enemy with the pendulum dimension, resulting in only jack and crow being the only people to show up in the fusion dimension instead of a massive army basically making the synchro arc feeling like a huge waste of time. The xyz and especially the fusion arcs have almost 10 times the number of problems but I don't want to turn this into an essay

I was hoping you would talk about Reira the Yugioh girl who everyone thought was a boy because they kept referring to her with no pronouns or male throughout the entire series until the end. Even than some people thought it was a retcon and other that her being processed by Ray gave her a sex change. Personally I thought I was oblivious and just assumed Reira was male but after a rewatch it seems it was just a retcon.

Oh Arc-V, this jumbled up mess that I can’t stop making Au’s for even if it’s not my favorite. I really like the fan work done on this series (even some official ones with Duel Links) and my god it hurts seeing how much the bag was fumbled with this. Well it can’t get worse from here right….right?! (Also Yuzu should have learned the rest of the summoning conditions like Synchro from Yugo, not sure who would teach her XYZ summons like idk Shun (???) maybe even learn Ritual but that one is more of wishful thinking) INTO THE VRAINS!

It's funny to think that the best Female Cast (or the most competent one for Yu-Gi-Oh standards) is in GO RUSH. The majority of that Anime has a strong Female presence: not only are they Characters with Goals and Motivations, they also Develop throughout the Plot, have Duels on a recurring basis and influence the Plot.

When I watched Arc-V for the first time, a couple of years ago, the story was one of weirdest and most confusing ones to follow. I know that's how they hook you, but this one wasn't one to hype up the ending like some of the others that have convincing and interesting plots. Even after this, Vrains and Sevens didn't really have interesting plots. Vrains was a bunch of mini side plots all contributing to the main plot. And Sevens was eay too short to have an interesting plot. They just threw rivals and villians in and theres your story. Seriously, I'm a fan of the series as a whole, but when go down this rabbit hole, it does not get better. The last good Yu-Gi-Oh we had was 5D's. Sadly, we may never get another one close to that.

Without watching, here are my main problems with them. Zuzu-started off good but gets separated from the group in the synchro dimension so she has very little to do, then after that she gets captured and does nothing for the rest of the series. Celina-ngl i dont remember her having problems, might be one of the best female characters in ygo. Lulu-interesting characters that i wish just had more screen time Rin-whomegalul? Aside from yugo mentioning her a few times when speaking to zuzu, what do we know about her?? Way to little screen time also

there is something i really like about of yuzu but for some reason they never development She could be the queen of games. what i say is well she in a better story she is the hero just like atem/astral that defead the darkness (zorc/don thousand /zarc) and in a way broke is memory to that darkness never comeback , she study just like yuya to be better and try to learn new think , is name begin with yu (but because is kanji is no the same kanji of king of games just like Yugi oh jaiden yuki). in fact was foreshadowing that she was to defead the main villan because she is the only female protagonist to defead the main protagonist.... but no we have...brainwashing girl. oh vrain is going to be a loong story. great analys

@@haibanehochaille7010 is a thing that they did thouse two times. During the final duel of Masumi and Yuzu, you can see that Masumi is impressed by Yuzu's performance but a bit too much... how much? The "Ok... that was kinda hot" too much And during Sherry's First appearance on 5D's after her duel against Yusei she blinked her eye to Aki and make her blush... like "who is this woman? and why is she so hot?" you can look that episode is not just my imagination

Look the Scene after the Duel of Sherry and Yusei and see how Aki reacts to Sherry's blink, that wasn't a "What a nice person" reaction, it was a "Oh my god she is hot" reaction. The same with Masumi, is like if the writers said "Well let's put this here to make some love triangle and... Oh no... wait!! This is Yugioh we cannot have Non Straight characters and just ignored the insinuation they made XD
