Due to the Xbox exclusivity for a time, I never touched Dead Rising 4 for a bit. Despite seeing what it had become, I still wanted to give it a chance. Forming my own opinions on it. When I finally played it, I came to the conclusion that I don't mind it's existence. It is a tolerable 5/10 at its best although it is a constant reminder that this game essentially the death of one of my favorite franchise. I can separate it enough from the other games in the series to judge it as it's own thing. With that said though, the first two, especially Off the Record are 100% better than the fourth onr

Could you imagine how good the story could have been if done right? Frank west in his older years starts to suffer from ptsd because he’s spent years covering wars and outbreaks, watching people die, the human body put up on macabre display and coming so close to deaths door. It gets to the point it’s wearing on his mental state, he can’t go to malls anymore because the customers walking aimlessly sometimes reminds him of zombies and he breaks into panicked episodes. Maybe show him trying to shop during the holidays and him thinking he’s in an outbreak, ready to grab whatever he can get his hands on out of instinct. Show how he can’t lead a normal life, but also that he’s trying. Then if you really need to keep Vick, you can have her as the sympathetic student who is almost like a Katie to him. Have her want to help him because of a bond we don’t know about yet. Then we could have led into her taking Frank to Willamette memorial because she wants to help him get over his trauma that he shared with her. Then they get there, end up stuck because Vick sees something fishy is going on, so she runs in to take pics. Have her go missing. Dash elements of the cloning in and BOOM. That would make the game about him needing to try and repress his feelings and be strong, throwing himself back in like a fish out of water to try and save someone who has been trying to save him too. All in the place where it all began. Seeing survivors die all over again. If your going to kill off Frank you could make it seem almost like a mercy if this was the way the story was framed. Have him wanting to die not just as a heroic act, but because he feels like he’s too old and too damaged to help anyone else anymore because he can’t even help himself like he could before. In turn you could make this fuck up Vick and have her gain the same problems that Frank had, thus creating an understanding and bond that would be immortalized in pain and corruption.

Personally I think Chuck Greene having a child is less of a prop to hold him up and more or less the defining factor that differentiates him from Frank West: he is a man with a family and liabilities in the zombie apocalypse. Frank while not ultimately bad isn't great either, and does not have these responsibilities. He at the end of the day is doing all of this for glory and for himself, helping others is ultimately a means to an end. Chuck on the otherhand does what he does for Katey and is a more grounded person who seems to help because it's a moral obligation, with Case West showing how these personalities clash on full display. It's just a minor point, but I wanted to mention I suppose.

The irony of Capcom, a company who is milking a zombie series for all its worth, refusing to revive old beloved IPs. You'd think after things like seeing Clover become Platinum, DMC3 being made specifically because Itsuno didn't want the DMC series to end on the sour note that was 2, and SF4 being something of a risky decision (fighting games were dead in the mid-late 2000s) then essentially reviving the entire genre that they'd learn.

For me, Dead rising wasn't _just_ about killing zombies. It was about being in a cheesy movie with fun as fuck characters that I can have fun playing as and somewhat relate to. Dead rising was also, at least for me, trying to play hero, and to get past zombies, and to uncover what caused the zombie outbreak. I always, or at least try to, save every savable surviver and get the best ending. Dead rising 4 felt like a bastardized version of the first game, only thing missing was someone ripping the first game apart.

Matt McMuscles' Wuh Happened episode on DR4 helps to also illustrate the flustercluck of DR4's development. This is the problem with focus groups. They target a general audience which doesn't work for game franchises built on a more distinct niche. People who want less hardcore features in Dead Rising don't care about the brand and the people who adore the brand lose the things that made it distinctive in the process. No one ends up happy with the product. It's textbook homogenization and it rarely works out for an IP unless it is done very slowly or as part of a reboot. At least then the fans can kind of read the intentions and make their choice to continue and new fans don't feel off put by the previous track laid in terms of a reboot. From a purely business angle that can work, from an artistic angle, I get real tired of everyone chasing the unicorn that is the general and casual audience. It ruins the variety we have with games.

Wow, never expected Dead Rising to be a topic you would cover. Well, now looking forward to the entire video. Part 1-3: Yeah, I can see the appeal of the games through the early days and mid-life. Dead Rising 1 as having the fun inside a mall at your disposal, Dead Rising 2 and Off The Record for Fortune City’s color, wider selection of stuff and the introduction to Combo Weapons. Dead Rising 3 has probably the most amount of zombies and combo weapons for having fun out of the three. Plus the last DLC rocks for just how arcade-like and full of spirit. But the lack of color for realism bleed into the dullness of it. Part 4: Dead Rising 4. Do I need to say anything? Well, if I do... ...I have only played Off The Record, but I’ve seen and looked into a lot of Dead Rising, especially for 1 and 3. But 4 is a game I don’t think I’ll ever play. And that’s a shame, because Dead Rising is probably one of my favorite series involving zombies for its gameplay, personality, and the tone (both of the serious and silly, alongside the clashing in between). But 4 just falls flat on so many areas, even with what positives it does have.

Ive said it before but i will say it again. It baffles me that, NO ONE, called Joe Nichols out on his obvious lies during his numerous interviews! He singlehandedly killed Frank West and buried the franchise. Frank West is a main character in the Capcom stable as he appears in crossover games so I wonder if Capcom knew that they were going to kill him?

I’m surprise you didn’t go into detail of how stupid the villain plot was in Dead rising 4. The reason the military brought back and clone zombies in the first place after they did so much damaged and killed millions of people in this universe. Was all just so they could sell zombies off for cheap labor? I’m mean not only would it be cheaper to just hire a random yahoo off the street then pay millions for zombie clones that are probably to stupid to do anything even basic making the whole thing useless, but no one is going to want to eat food or anything touched by zombies and would do nothing but give the companies endless negative PR forever ruining there bottom line. This whole thing started because this company was trying to make something that probably would never work or be profitable to begin with.

whats really sad that the story of dr isnt even finished like > whats isabela keyes up to > what happens to nick ramos, katie, chuck greene and the other survivors after los peridos > a rlly good redemption arc for frank west > will isabela take up the mantle of her brother to take revenge or will she be a good person theres soo much more we were hoping to get from DR but now we wont cuz it got ruined by bunch of insecure devs

I will admit, I was one person that wasn't a big fan of the time limit so really couldn't get into 1 and never played the rest, but getting rid of it did not bring me in, in fact, that would be a bigger turn off for me, I may not be a fan of it, but more liked it the time limit.

I remember when Dead Rising 4 was being hyped up and it had a demo. I tried the demo and something caused a soft lock with a survivor so I immediately uninstalled the demo and never thought about it again. Half a decade later I'm watching a video on the right choice I made.

Am I the only one who think zombies have way more psychological horror to them than people give them credit for or depict them with? They are literally human bodies. Imagine seeing your mom, dad, best friend, spouse, even kids, decomposed and bloody, and trying to KILL YOU? It's dark af. It's sad you basically never see media explore that aspect of them and just treat them as funny shooting barrels

This is probably my new favorite video of yours. I may not see eye to eye with you at times (Like how I've lost faith in Pokemon getting better for example) but I can tell you really love this series and was frustrated to see Capcom RUIN IT! Also kudos to your editor I will certainly check out his channel since I never heard of him until now. Overall if you want to do more videos like this in the future I say go for it cause I'll more than happily watch them.

I forgot reporters/journalists used to be capable human beings. Imagine a current day journalists ending up in zombie las vegas. He would try to cancel the zombies on twitter or write top 10 reasons why the zombie outbreak was mostly peaceful. They would refuse to eat non vegan healing items.

I feel like Dead Rising and Saints Row are quite similar series due to how they started with two great starts and by the time they reach the third they overly embrace a certain aspect that was noticed by fans and ran with it. Unfortunately, I love both series quite a bit and it's a shame to see them fall like this. At least Saints Row 4 was ok though, gameplay wise.
@emanuelespinoza93253 жыл бұрын
I am a fan of Saints Row, and I often feel people are too hard on the third game. I won't deny that there were flaws with it, especially when looking at gameplay mechanics that didn't transfer over, but I still like the game. As for Saints Row IV, well here is what I always say - I can acknowledge the game's issues and won't argue with people who don't like the game. Although I feel that going Sci-Fi was a stretch and an odd move, I would be lying if I said that I didn't enjoy the game. I acknowledge all of its problems, but that doesn't mean that I don't like it. Gat Out of Hell, on the other hand, although I will play it, I felt it was not necessary.

The first time i ever saw a sequel to a game i liked announced and felt "I don't want this" was the reveal of dead rising 3, holy crap that was a terrible reveal. the end product ended up being a perfectly fine game, but I could tell Dead rising as i loved it was gone, and DR4 was the nail in the coffin

About the daughter having psychic powers, is not a terrible idea, here's why: What if the zombies in DR are a hive mind? The daughter for having being cured of the zombi infection is attuned to the zombi hive mind more so than a regular human. She could know where zombies are and where they are being directed to. This would mean that her zombi psychic powers only affect the zombies, not regular humans. More so, there could be more psychics (I would just put the final final boss to be able to have them) that can manipulate the zombi hive mind into attacking the protagonists.
