Second, the fight seemed to suggest that Kakyoin's goal at the time wasn't landing a blow, but rather to draw out as much information about TW as he could, which worked out despite it leading to his death, and ultimately changed the tide of battle into Jotaro's favor. In a way, it's like Avdol's death; A noble sacrifice.

Hell even with Joseph he could not get the information in time and even he could not even do anything about the stop time. Its like him finding out that dio could stop time meant almost nothing. Second even then with a stand with multiple abilities especially one that is said to reflect or in your case not dodgeable him going out like that with almost no damage done to dio with just simple timestop seems more not ceremony worthy. At least to me anyway

@@keodiozubu8670 If Kakyoin didn't find out about TW's ability and didn't leave his dying message for Joseph to understand, Jotaro would most likely have stepped into Dio's range when Joseph and Dio fell from the rooftops. Joseph yelling about him having to keep his distance kept Jotaro from doing so and ultimately saved Jotaro from being able to be killed in the same timestop Dio "killed" Joseph in. If Joseph didn't have that information beforehand, the fight would've ended then and there. It's funny that you describe timestop as being "simple" despite how absolutely broken it is. It's absolutely feasible that Kakyoin, who didn't know of the ability at that point, wouldn't be able to actually hurt Dio. In fact, the fact that he managed to get close to harming Dio is noteworthy on it's own. Hol Horse's attempted betrayal has shown just how terrifying timestop can be if you have no way to counter it, which has only been done by Jotaro armed with the information of TW's ability plus SP being basically the same Stand. And some rats for some reason. Jotaro is the main character; Of course he'd get the privilege of actually playing Dio at his own game and harming him. If you don't know someone has a timestop ability and/or you have no way to get around the problem, the enemy can just stop time, move out of harm's way and kick you in the balls in the meantime, which is what Dio did. Kakyoin getting the information was really the best he could do and like I said earlier ultimately saved Jotaro's life. It's faithful to what Dio has shown to be capable of while also giving Kakyoin a bit of spotlight, even if it did kill him.

@@ninjakidkat12 That's sorta of a stretch. Cuz the only thing preventing Jotaro from staying back is Joseph saying stand back. Kakyoin stand had many abilities at his disposal and he could do his from long range. How come he did not even get in one hit in why polnaerf got at least a good stab? His main contribution to the whole fight just seems( my opinion by the way) to relying information that either he could not beat, Jotaro beat by himself and mostly figured out by himself and to Joseph saying at that exact time stay back which could have been without that.

Is that they don't understand how a show can have a very specific appeal that really draws in certain people. I have friends that don't like JJBA but they ALWAYS say they can totally understand how other people can be really into it. They can see the appeal even though it does nothing for them. Jojos has a unique niche it fills for some people. Going on a Rant about this show feels very out-of-touch to me. It has the same energy as people who would rant about something like Evil Dead or Rocky Horror. It's just not something you can do without missing the point/looking stupid. I tried to get my little sis into JoJo and she couldn’t because “it’s just weird” and to me that’s an acceptable answer. Modern anime/manga satirizes the serious, ridiculous, over-the-top nature of the superpowered hero manga subgenre. JoJo is in a very special place where it is both aware of this cliche and celebrates it by making a willing audience member shed the embarrassment they might feel due to its camp. It’s not exactly tongue-in-cheek, but there is never this sense of “If you laugh during serious moment, you’re ruining the mood”. That’s where “Bizarre” comes in. “Bizarre” is an assault on convention and the expected. Things can be life or death and still weird. People can be ruthless killers and have odd quirks (Ghiaccio’s hate-boner for idioms). You can be aware of how trope-y things are but still enjoy it because of the entertainment it gives you. Okay, but fr, nah, Abacchio’s death was not unceremonious. He got caught off guard and killed in an underhanded and brutal way (like how a gang member would kill another gang member), but if he hadn’t succeeded before he died, the entire rest of part 5 would not, could not happen. In the real world, death is mostly unceremonious. It's usually cruel, brutal and it happens out of nowhere. I'm glad Araki choose to end his beloved characters this way because it gives a more heavy gut punch. It is why I believe Narancia's death is the saddest of the anime series.

I understand why other people may not like him, and maybe my opinion will change once I read the manga (I just started Phantom Blood a few days ago) but your ability to summarize and defend who his character is despite not enjoying it that much really shows that you understood the story that was trying to be told, unlike how Cosmonaut would misrepresent characters like calling Fugo calm and cool. Overall this video put a lot of things into words that I'd felt when first watching Cosmonaut's video and it was done in a very entertaining manner. I also really like that you said it's alright for people to not like JoJo since it is quite a strange show to get into. Lots of your arguments had plenty of evidence and sources, plus it was all delivered in quite an entertaining format. Basically what my 3am brain is trying to say is good video, I really enjoyed it. @ScythGrizz3 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't really call Giorno a Gary Stuart. That implies that he doesn't go through a single struggle or adversity Vs. Bruno: Get's pretty much owned for most of the fight until he figures out a way to counter and make up for his short range. Vs. Babyface: his only solo fight and even then he figures out how to counter his enemy in a reasonable way (i.e. using baby face to learn something new about his ability.) Vs. Notorious B.I.G.: Is forced to loose his arm as an attempt to get rid of him as is taken out of commission. Vs. Crush and Talking Head: He was the one who needed the saving in the scenario. Vs. Ghiacco: His powers or completely useless for offense and is brought down as support for Mista. Giorno also has his moments of emotion. Giorno's character is a lot more subtle than other Jojos. His backstory establishes him to be a more introverted character. While he doesn't outright show emotion, His emotions come from his inner thoughts, which we see him display panic and frustration is situations. There even times where does show emotion: - Him quivering and disbelief at Abbachio's death. - His utter despair and disbelief at the reveal that Bruno was basically a zombie on a time limit. - His destain, hatred, and anger towards Ciocolatta. - His despair towards Narancia's death (It's also the first time we see him cry, which given the context of his backstory, holds some significance. It's basically what you said about Jotaro. Although he doesn't show much emotion, it doesn't mean they're not there. As a critique towards Cosmonaut, he complains that him being the son of Jonathan and Dio has no plot relevance when that wasn't the point. It's to contextualize Giorno's character and his morality. He has Jonathan's sense of justice and honor, but has a Dio way of delivering that justice towards his enemies. Giorno is a character that has to be looked deeper into in order to appreciate him. While do understand how his introverted personality can be seen as uninteresting, in my opinion, his subtly as a character is what makes him more interesting. I'm not expecting anyone's mind to be changed. This is just how I feel about him.

“the deaths were unceremonious” yeah because THATS HOW DEATH IS. my best friend was hanging out in her living room one day when her dad started groaning in the other room. ten minutes later, he was dead. no last words, no dramatic goodbye, he just died right in her arms. that’s what makes araki’s writing so impactful, because it doesn’t pander to the audience’s need for closure. Grief is painful and unexpected and raw; you sometimes don’t get to say “i love you” or even “i’m sorry” before that person is gone, and i think deaths like caesar and narancia really encapsulate that feeling. they leave people behind (joseph and fugo) who have to live with the burden of words left unsaid. God i hate how reductive cosmo’s language is, he fundamentally misunderstands the story but preaches to his hundreds of thousands of viewers like his words are the truth.
@Magnet_Chaos3 жыл бұрын
Even then I wouldn't use the word unceremonious. We do get a send off for every character that dies. Be it their Ghost visiting the surviving companion, the narrator giving a speech, or something else. Like Narancia had the most "unceremonious" death. But the entire story took a quick break to acknowledge his death. The anime even added that scene with Fugo. The only death that I consider completely unceremonious happens in Part 7.

Narancia’s death was necessary tho. It showed that Diavolo was done playing around now that the arrow was in his reach. And he was going to use literally whatever means was necessary to do that. And Narancia unfortunately had the means to possibly track him down.

I want to say he misrepresents arguments, but I can't. He just doesn't seem to get any other viewpoint than his own...and even his own is underdeveloped.

The deaths in golden wind were actually my “favorite” not that I enjoyed people dying but it showed how people, even people close to the main character can die without a moments notice when out is such dangerous situations, there was not time to prepare, no time to even try to save them, it just happened and no matter how strong the protagonist is, he can’t save everyone
@crackerjack03493 жыл бұрын
My favorite death is Shigechi. Not because I hated the crotch goblin. It showed Kira perfectly, hence why he’s my favorite villain. He’s human. It also shows that it could’ve been easily avoidable. Shigechi was the most hard hitting death because it shows that no one besides the main characters know he’s gone. It rings too close to reality of kids who go missing and their parents don’t know what happened to them. Plus his death gave them a head-start to Kira at that point
@benjaminhewitt23763 жыл бұрын
@@crackerjack0349 I agree and Kayoin was pretty similar as well, I like the way all the deaths in jojos were implemented, even Avdols, its just that the deaths in part 5 were main characters, you knew some might die but you never saw it coming, especially not Narancia but yeah, while Kira isnt the strongest, he is the best villain

So if Jotaro didn't have feelings why would he: 1) Go to a long trip to save his mother 2) lose his shit when DIO drank all of Joseph's blood 3) literally almost cry when Polnareff left (That's how I saw it) 4) mentor and care for Josuke and his friends 5) leaving his wife and daughter just to protect them from other stand users hunting him 6) choosing to save Jolyne over saving the world How dafuq did Cosmanaut miss this (oh yeah he didn't care) Oh and nice video Manga

This is always the case with characters that are, for the most part, reserved or stoic. Kiryu from Yakuza has the same reputation by pseudo-fans. "He never smiles!" or "He's an emotional blank-slate!". No. He and Jotaro are simply the same type of character - morally just, but emotionally reserved. They express their emotions when it truly matters, not just all the time like others.

He literally went “grandad said to run but fuck that this asshole killed him and my friends, I am too pissed to let him get away” Is he blunt, rude, and prone to violence? Yes, but he cares about the people around him. The ENTIRE REASON he let himself get arrested at the very beginning was to keep his stand from hurting people at random.

I legit don’t understand how this guy thinks the fights in part 3 suck. Is it because they aren’t throwing continents at each other and blowing up solar systems like in other anime?

@vovabars12343 жыл бұрын
Joaquín Casas Cortés >tell me a character trait of Goku or Vegeta Lol wut? Vegeta is literally one of the most developed shonen charcaters. He went from a genocidal maniac that killed his own allies to a loving father that gave his life away to save the world. And unlike for example Naruto villains,he didn’t suddenly change his mind after getting talk no jutsu’d ,it was a gradual progression from being an unlikely ally to a full-time part of the cast. Pretty much all of the main cast are given concrete characterisation,even the more irrelevant characters like Yamcha(to be fair he wasn’t irrelevant in OG DB).Piccolo and Trunks are especially my favs. Same goes to the villains,Frieza is literally the most iconic villian in anime history. Sure they are not mega deep seinen-level charcaters,but they don’t really have to be. People just trash on Dragonball cause it’s the golden standard of shonen. It is very flawed,went for too long and has a lot of outdated elements to it,but you have to give it credit where it deserves it and have to admit it was the pioneer of the genre. It’s simplicity is its strength,not a weakness
