This was 3 years back when we visited and shot this. Road is still good, but recently I heard that there are rains for the last few weeks which made some parts a little worse. Overall it's still good.

No such as I remember. However, from Airport we did not started. We started from Mangalore city center.

Train is good option, it's cheaper than other options.. it will take ~ 4 hours.. I think if you are planning to use train, that's an wise decision..

The road condition as per 2020 January was excellent. Thus even someone is beginner, must enjoy the driving. The road is wider too upto madikeri. Thus it can be easy to drive. However, at Madikeri town itself, it can appear hard. Very much congested traffic there. But the toughest part is, there are many slopes where you need to stop car, or or slow down due to traffic. If you plan to stay somewhere nearby, but not in center of Madikeri town, you can avoid this. Wish you a very pleasant journey there..
