Heavenly Restrictions specifically the Toji type can't be bound by fate. Fate in the JJK world works in tandem with Cursed Energy so if you have 0 CE like Toji you are not bounded by fate. Toji not being bound by fate is the reason why he was able to kill Riko, pretty much Gojo too. Toji not being bound by fate is what leads to many and I mean many of the problems in JJK e.g. Geto becoming "evil", Brain-kun getting Geto's body, Gojo being sealed, the Shibuya Incident and so many more. Toji "broke" chains of fate. Like the narrator said Toji is "The one who left it all behind"

I would say the reason why there has not been any other zero cursed energy users in zenin before toji, is more so because of the fact that the zenin clan hates non cursed users. So they would bury the evidence of them, and make sure no one knows about them

Such as the fact that they might have assassinated other heavenly restricted bodies, or the fact that unlike toji they might have stayed with the zenin clan (aka get assassinated). There's also the fact that they fought gojo, and was the only significant challenge that gojo had ever had. Finally, its only been a few years since he died, and no one knew his face or looks (based on how maki didnt know when he first saw him), so while zenin may have been trying to bury him, there just hasnt been enough time yet to do so.

There is an interesting choice of words Yuki used for Toji in that he is the only one that managed to get his cursed energy down to zero. So, he wasn't born with zero CE, he just managed to make it that way which means he wasn't fateless from the start he managed to break his fate. This also means that Mechamaru may be a similar case and if he managed to complete his heavenly restriction, he may even be able to exist without a physical body

I've heard about this theory before. Honestly, we don't really know how the ritual determines outside help, it might not even look at the CE signatures. But let's just assume the ritual doesn't get nulled. Then what? Can a Heavenly Restricted person invade every single ritual of a 10S user? But that means that literally even the weakest 10S user can tame all 10 shikigami. Someone with just the divine dogs can just sit there and start rituals over and over again until they have all 10 shikigamis. It's basically like a cheat code. And that makes it sound like a 10S user has to essentially get carried by someone with zero CE. There is a better theory about this that I like. If you look at Mahoraga's wheel, it has 8 spheres. If we assume every sphere represents one ability it adapts to, it means it can only adapt to 8 separate abilities at a time. Okay, what's the significance of this? There's 9 shikigami other than Mahoraga. Which means, while the user purposefully lets Mahoraga adapt to them without them dying, one shikigami can be the real damage dealer, while the others take up a slot of the wheel. Which means Mahoraga can't adapt to the final shikigami. It's debatable if Maho can replace an adaptation in a slot with another adaptation. But that just means the user has to try to keep all their shikigamis alive and overwhelm Maho with attacks from all Shikigamis.

The theory about 9 Shikigami would make a lot of sense but it has its flaws too. Mahoraga's wheel was said to represent the perfect cycle of harmony. It'd be a little weird for this "perfect" cycle to have a limited number of abilities to adapt. Especially considering Mahoraga was stated to adapt to "any phenomena". For a trump card of the Ten Shadows Technique, adaptability limitation would be way too much of a weakness.

(Unless you're Sukuna) Here are some examples of how it could be done: 1- first you tame every shikigami minus Mahoraga. Second you use a binding vow to lock all your shikigami for a day minus rabbit escape, and in exchange rabbit escape would gain all the strength of the other shikigami. Think of it as an alternate method of getting totality without sacrificing your shikigami. And with a shikigami that's "made" of eight shikigami it would be at least as strong as Mahoraga, which seems to be the case as Agito (a beast that's made of three other shikigami) was relative to Mahoraga. so it might even be stronger than Mahoraga, but let's say it's only half as strong. (So keep in mind that the rabbits will be half as strong as Mahoraga) Now tell me again, what's the rabbit's ability? Oh it was to make an *infinite* amount of clones, and how is that helpful? Well you can make *every single clone* do a DEATH BINDING VOW and you will get the ability to use an infinite amount of death binding vows. Now just hit Mahoraga with a thousand "totality" rabbits (who are already almost as strong as Mahoraga) that also have death binding vows attached to them and Mahoraga will be dead before it even knows what happened. 2- the other method is to lock half your shikigami to get a lot of curse energy and to lock the other half to strengthen the ox. Then summon it and make it run on a treadmill until it has enough energy to kill Mahoraga.

@@dimaudalow Being able to only adapt to 8 things at a time is actually not that bad of a weakness. Most of Mahoraga's opponents wouldn't even have more than one ability for it to adapt to. And it could just replace an adaptation slot for a different ability once he doesn't need it anymore. It's not like it's a limit of 8 adaptations in a lifetime. Like I said in my comment, Maho can probably get rid of an adaptation and put the adaptation of the 9th ability in the first sphere. That's why a 10S user would have to overwhelm Maho with 9 abilities at the same time. A 10S user is one of the only sorcerers capable of doing this since they have way more abilities than a typical sorcerer. Even Gojo only has 5. You can only complete the ritual alone, so you can't just gang up on Maho with a lot of sorcerers with different CTs to tame it. A 10S user is the only one that can overwhelm Maho's adaptation process using more than 8 abilities. I think this is the point of the whole 10S cursed technique.

Question: If Gojo at the last moment turned a part of his body into a cursed item like Kenjaku taught Sukuna to do, and Yuji ate it, would he gain infinity+six eyes, just infinity, just six eyes, or just the sheer ammount of cursed energy with no CT? Gojo would gain control over a vessel, if it was suitable. But since this is Yuji we're talking about, Gojo would get imprisoned inside Yuji and Yuji wouldn't be able to use any of Gojo's abilities. We would need more information about how Yuji ate the cursed wombs and if he got their CT or not, to properly answer this. If Yuji ate the cursed wombs and he gained their CT because he digested them, that means that Yuji should be able to gain Gojo's abilities as long as he is stronger than Gojo and as long as he can beat him in his innate domain.

Probably the zenin just drowned them when they were young and didn’t thing too much about it. We know that the modern zenin clan threw toji in a pit of curses so maybe during the olden times where they were more ruthless they just killed them. If Mahoraga simply applies the RCT to someone and doesn't attack them, 100%. The sword is a part of Mahoraga, so that means Mahoraga itself can use RCT. The isue there, of course, is that you would need Mahoraga to....not attack the person. And since Mahoraga is not really... sentient... that's going to be a bit hard. Maybe a tamed Mahoraga would be able to, who knows. Sukuna never really had Maho try it for obvious reasons. He already had a Shikigami specialized for RCT, trying to twist Maho into another one would be kind of pointless.

Curse Tools do have curse energy, you're right. Each tool like sorcerers are graded based on their potency. It's the same reason why Todo is able to switch with curse tools. Boogie Woogie is only able to switch with things that have cursed energy. Like how he switched Yuji with Playful Cloud, or when Yuji imbued a pebble with cursed energy and Todo switched with it.

Hmm, that's an interesting thought with the cursed energy signature (the presence of just one unique one) being used as a gauge or tag for whether the ritual would be void or not. But if that's the case, I don't think Toji would be able to team up with Megumi to subjugate Mahoraga. The reason being that, like you said, he would rely on certain cursed tools (like Inverted Spear of Heaven for instance) and those tools have their own faint but detectable cursed energy. So the energy from the tools of Toji and the energy from Megumi would count as two distinct cursed energy signatures that would then void the subjugation in that case if singular cursed energy signature was really the deciding metric here.

I think it actually fits the zenin clan to keep any 0 cursed energy heavenly restriction members a secret, kill them, or if they're like Maki, and they're twins, or female (zenin clan seems to be very mysoginistic) suppress them indefinitely. I think its very auspicious we went from Toji being the first to immediately Maki replacing him. We don't know the birth frequency of the ten shadows Cursed Technique, but if its as Rare as the six eyes + limitless, its definitely possible.

Perhaps fate knew that Megumi needed to get stronger to rival Gojo, so it created Toji then Maki to help subjugate Mahoraga. Perhaps Toji was created with the knowledge that Satoru would be born, with fate tying him to Megumi. Perhaps fate knew about Kenjaku's plan and fated Maki to have a twin that will die before the Culling Games to give them enough time to subjugate Mahoraga but not enough to be OP before hand. Of course, Fate got Gege'd and it's plans went off the rails.

There's alot of theories for this, but the most common one is using the bull shikigami and charging it up before summoning maho and then 1 shotting it right as it spawns in. Some other theories i've heard that let the ten shadows user solo involve A. having a 2nd curse technique or B. using an outside tool like a bomb or something.

I always assumed the intended way was for a ten shadows user to master every shikigami besides Mahoraga AND their domain expansion. That way once they start the ritual they can activate Chimera Shadow Garden and make use of it's ability to have infinite copies of any shinigami. So they can absolutely bombard mahoraga with armies of a single Shikigami at a time, and when Mahoraga adapts, switch to another shikigami in a war of attrition

He will also adapt to his cursed weapons rather quickly if toji isn’t able to end him fast enough, and considering what it took for sukuna to do so I say probably not a likely chance.
