@@LRon-ef7ni Yep. As a kid in the 80's, my brother got the transformer and I was super jealous about it. That was our first exposure to it, in the early mid 80's. Then mid to late mid 80's, my Grandma rented the VHS volumes for us to watch. And we learned were it came from. The final volume was never available. I never saw the final episodes until little over a decade ago thanks to Netflix.

The missiles were mounted on backwards... Overall seems to be smaller than Yamato/Arcadia's VF-1 figures but with refined articulation, while using the same basic style of transformation (stuff like the metal T joint connecting the legs swinging back before coming down to the nosecone). Very interesting, I'd love to pick up one or three lol (Hikaru, Max, and Milia). ESPECIALLY if they are easier to get than Bandai's Hi-Metal R line that always runs out immediately

This! My dad and I used to geek out over the opening theme, and try and figure out how “Ulpio Minucci” is a Japanese name😂 Pretty great voice acting, too…It was probably decades before we got another anime dub this good, and I’m being generous as I can’t even think of one right now. When I go back to the Japanese Macross, I just can’t get over Ichijo’s (Rick’s) and Max’s low, sexy voices and Fokker’s three-pack-a-day rasp. I guess Japan’s got to “hero” its own way, but you like what you grew up with.

After 40 years this toy has evolved but i guess it's just not possible to pull those side fillers out in perfect transformation because there is not enough space inside the plane. It's conerning that the body is only connected to the legs by a tiny peice of material. It looks like that peice is plastic too. It needs a significant number of extra parts to transform, hands, engine coverings, chest sides and you need a tool to put the landing gear away. If you loose any of these tiny parts, it just doesn't work properly anymore. While the original had less articulation, it was a really solid toy that required nothing else and still had good articulation, especially for the era it came from. Still, this is a great looking model with wonderful detail and the extra hands are nice and the transforming gun is a nice touch but I'd sacrifice articulation for less extra bits needed.

This looks an awful lot like the Yamato / Arcadia 1/60 scale VF-1J. Same size and literally shares some aspects of its transformation (beyond the obvious elements taken from the show, I mean). Just has a few little extra bells and whistles beyond the prior toy. Sad that it still doesn't include a waist at all, although that might require some actual "anime magic" to pull off. Also, it doesn't have the weathering I would have expected from threezero. Kind of disappointed that it isn't a bigger upgrade from the older one.

The limits is not in the transforming parts, but more of it's scale, it'll be too small or too fragile to make it fully mechanics/transformable. If some makes a bigger scale, llike 1/10 maybe, then it's easy to make without swapping parts.
@wills2140
@wills2140 14 күн бұрын
"...but one day!" That day has been here for well over a decade plus. Ever since Yamato (now Arcadia) came out with their "version 2" 1/60 scale transforming Valkyrie toys, there was no "parts-forming", just cavity fillers, and interchangeable hands. Then came the Yamato 1/48 VF - 1 _ Macross Valkyries, with even the cavity and gap fillers built-in. Same for the Bandai "Chogokin" DX line of VF transforming 1/48 scale toys -, no "parts-forming" or "parts swapping" was necessary. Heck, even my fairly smol 1/72 scale VF - 1S "Dark Gold" Valkyrie does not require any parts swapping, just "optional" cavity fillers on the sides. Even going back in time to the Toynami MasterPiece Collection ("MPC") VF - 1_ 1/55 scale "Valkyrie" did need to have parts changed out, just the same ol' "cavity fillers" in battloid mode, and antenna in GERWALK or fighter mode. And which parts exactly were you swapping on the original Takatoku (sometimes incorrectly called "Takara", later sold to Hasbro - becoming *the* Transformers G1 "Jetfire", later still Bandai bought the "moulds" and tooling - still putting out a few once in a while) *1/55 scale VF - 1 S, J, A "Valkyrie"* transforming toys, while not "perfect transformation" like all the other more recent toys - did not require changing out anything (except the gun clip - but that had nothing to do with transformation). You must be thinking of the smaller toys in (around) 1/100 scale, like Toynami "Veritech" Fighter toys (all the early ones very fragile and poor quality control, the last 7 years of releases at least don't generally fall apart in your hand). The old old Banpresto "Perfect Transformation" Valkyrie and SuperValkyrie BF -1 S/J/A toys did swap a couple of parts ("ironically" - given the product name, hehh). Or, Bandai "High Metal - R" Valkyrie, Trainer, VF - 1D, etc. that do require the landing gear, hands, canopy, and cavity filler be swapped in or out. The Yamato V1 (version 1) VF toys *were* the epitome of "parts-forming" VF "Valkyrie" toys, with even the legs being moved - but those switched to the V2 (version 2) toys nearly 20 years ago... The day of not having to add or subtract parts for transformation in Macross toys ended like nearly 20 years ago, come join us in the modern era of transforming mecha toys, it is fun not to get hung up on if the "TV" ("balloon") hands fit inside the toy when transforming, or if articulated hands are included - just buy them on the "after market" (or trade with someone else). And ThreeZero have been making "Votoms / Scope Dog" toys for quite a few years, good quality, good features.

Yeah, they more or less used an original Macross Valkyrie as the basis for G1 Jetfire who ended up evolving into his own character design, far removed from his Macross origins. Humorously he's depicted as this shuttle/transport jet as opposed to a fighter jet and now most modern renditions of Jetfire typically have him as this large jet when his original toy/design was a sci-fi F-14 Tomcat.

That's admirable, but I'm not missing out on this great product. Unlike the Bandai 1/48 version, I'm actually able to get this one.

What’s wrong about them? Genuine question
@drewlovelyhell4892

@@foberdud7576 Basically, in the early '80s, Harmony Gold bought the international rights to the TV serious 'SDF Macross', so that they could dub it and release it in America as the first season of Robotech. But after that, they sat on the rights, refusing to relinquish them back to Big West in Japan, meaning that for decades, no Macross shows could be released outside of Japanese territories (with the exception of Macross Plus, due to a loophole). Also, all the great Macross collectibles made by Bandai are limited to release in Japan, meaning that they are produced in relatively low numbers, and are difficult and expensive for western fans to get. Figures in the DX Chogokin range, for example, sell for around $150-200 in Japan, but western fans have to pay between $250-350. Ironically, it's largely because of Robotech that Macross has such a large fanbase in the West.

@@foberdud7576Robotech is what may be called a “butchering” of the source material, merging several unrelated anime series into one. This irks a lot of anime fans who values story integrity. We are not talking about crossovers, but changing the original material so that these series fit together.

Cockpit doesn't look accurate. Didn't the tv version have a flight stick and a clear panel above the front display?

I don't know exactly what they are charging, but from looks alone, I would say all of the other existing RoboTech toys from Arcadia, BanDai, and KitzConcept should not be worried about competition from this thing. Only toynami should see this mostly average toy as "competition" - and we already know toynami is smaller and crappier - and probably cheaper too...

From looks alone, this has panel lining, better articulation and better color separation. Plastic and alloy zinc materials are much better and maybe only second to Bandai. You just like to complain because of the fuss of Harmony Gold lmao
@wills2140
@wills2140 14 күн бұрын
@longminh2759 Yeah, ThreeZero have made a nice enough "sample" with decent details, but general production toys *don't arrive until January 2025* . KitsConcept has similar 1/72 scale VF - 1 / S / J / A toys, with similar paint and decent articulation, available now for $120 - $160 in several variants. ThreeZeto is not doing anything very special, So what are they giving you to schill for them ? Because, Yamato and BanDai DX are so much bigger and have established quality standards, with established products that we actually have - and they don't have to send out schills to bother commenters on here... p. s. I don't care about Harmony Gold, but you bringing them up shows that you are a HG hater as well. There has been no "fuss" about Harmony Gold since Big West (on behalf of Studio Nue, Maryland) forced Tatsunoko to honor the "licensing" contract they made with HG (tho, they did not actually have the rights to do that), so a Sony deal could get done. *That was in March 2021 - over 3.5 years ago* I don't care about your Harmony Gold grudge, all of Macross and most of it's toys, art, and products, will eventually be made available, everywhere, world wide.
