Tha carabao mangoes that we grow in Cebu are much bigger, bright green with a kind of "piney" fragrance and flavor. That one you have is the most common and popular here. Very sweet.

I have tried several different varieties because it is readily available and sometimes it is okay and sometimes it is smooth and sweet. A 6-7 is about where I would put it too. Also this is the tree that most California growers prefer to use as root stalk vs anything from Florida. It seems to handle the clay soil and dry western climate better.

If this mango was grown outside of the Philippines, then it surely tasted different from those that are grown in PH. So many have tried to plant it in their country but it won't taste the same.

CHESTNUT-MANGO which is abundant in Hawaii is very much akin to the aromaticy and sweetness of a Carabaw-Mango of the Philippines. When picked almost fully ripe, it is at its max flavor.

There 15 registered varieties of carabao mango. It’s like calling all Haden seedlings Haden. They say the real carabao is mango is really sweet. No one really knows what type of mango it is because in the Philippines they don’t make any differentiation. If the want the sweetest carabao mango you want to try the sweet Elena from zamables or the the guimaras super gaila

We got really good ones in Dumaguete but I can't swear where they were shipped in from. I didn't know there we that many different varieties of that one mango.

Hilario mangoes from Goa have those kind of dual textures, a little whitish texture on the outer most layer and pale yellow in the inner part. They have a wierd very sweet texture overall but you won't find them in India though.

The real carabao mango is very aromatic and intensely sweet.

That doesn't look like a Carabao mango. That looks more like a manila mango, which is slightly smaller than Carabao. Carabao can be yellow skinned or yellow with red blush. It's bigger than Haden. The Carabao I've grown up with is very sweet, juicy, with a hint of coconut flavor at the end, no hints of spicy or turpentine.

For me the best Phillippine mango is the Piko variety. The only reason Carabao variety is promoted and exported is because its more beautiful (flawless skin), which attracts buyers. Besides that Piko variety have some sexy body with a chest out and a chin figure. The green unripe one has some small faded white dots. But for the taste, hands down to Piko. Btw what you tasted was a tree ripen mango judging from the inner flesh and outer flesh color, its not good to be honest. That is the cause of that jelly like flesh. Its best tasted on a uniform colored flesh. (Green mango that are left to ripe on its own after being picked). It should be the texture of that outer flesh texture uniformly. Mangoes are picked when still green and are about to ripe. The ones that started to from a yellowish color on tree that are picked are sold to local markets or given away.

Good ones are those that are not "kinalburo" and are "nagdadagta" (sticky resin spots). You should be able to smell the mangoes 5 feet away or more.

These were grown in Miami, we don’t have a tree ourselves. Hopefully yours will flower and fruit this year. Maybe they are just slower to produce.

I like the sugary taste, I don't like it being sour, and even I don't like that sweetness mixes with sourness. Is this variety sweet?

Those are some small carabao mangoes... I've seen better and we used to stole some when we were a kid and it's super sour when it's not ripe at all and will destroy your tastebuds by how sour it is but when you let it fully ripen with a darker skin color and black spots that's gonna be one sweet carabao mango

Jelly Seed...ewww. Maybe Carabao is different, but on Haden I wouldn't eat the jelly part, but the normal flesh near the skin is ok to eat.

Ky_Co sorry - we only had one and didn’t mark or save any of the seeds from mangos we’ve eaten so far this season. You can see if the USDA repository in Miami will send seeds. I know they send budwood for research purposes.

Seeds from these sweet mangoes doesnt give u the guarantee that it will bare sweet mangoes. What they usually do in farms is that they graft these mangoes to maintain its sweetness

Philippine has the sweetest mango in the world, the guimaras variety. we also have the sweetest jackfruit, the EVIARC SWEET. its a facts.
