I dont use anything to keep the water warm. This pool is only in use during hot sunny days. When I bath him in the tub I keep the water at high 80's, but I have no way to raise the temperature outside. This will put restraints on when I can and cannot let him play in the pool.. I did once, but mangrove nails grow back so so fast, it wasn't worth the stress it causes to the animal to cut them so often. I ended up buying super heavy duty welders gloves. Mangroves have so very vicious nails, I know exactly how you feel. Using the gloves makes it very easy to hold the monitor...

He hasn't grown much. I try not to power feed all my animals so they stay an average "wild" healthy weight. He is very flighty and always strives to be a challenge. For all those future Mangrove owners out there...these are high energy monitors and will keep you on your toes. They are a blast!

haha, I just realize I've seen your vids, i even commented. Has your Mangrove grown much since then? As a full grown adult the Tegu nails wont be so bad anymore. They will dull out a bit, I doubt the same will apply to the Mangroves, being that they are just as arboreal as they are aquatic.

Thats great man. I have and know acuaintances who keep thiers in some questionable conditions. Not saaying they do not love thier pets, they do but.. I feel some could be kept much better. So kudos for giving him a great place to hang:.

Once in I actually grab him with the gloves, he is calm, but the initial grab can be difficult.

It's an Argentine Red. Check out my vids. I have them both in the bathtub. When the Mangrove climbs my arm it cuts me up real good. They are both really cool and I wish I didn't have to wear gloves but I have no choice.
