I live in Sunnyside near Long Island City and work in Midtown. It saves me tons of money, travel time to work is 15 minutes, and the area has a lot of very good restaurants and bars to enjoy during my free time/weekends. I think my best take on living in this area is having more time for whatever things I like to do outside of work coz it saves me so much time from commute.

Midtown a place you go to chill, not to live. If you live there, you're going to be sick and tired bumping into tourist lol. That 4th apt, I was like you really want to live a block from Times Sq lol. BK I love. I actually never left BK ever since I moved to NYC. I think you made the best decision. You have a car so you're good. Queens is cool. I think you might like Forest Hills or even Astoria.

Love the different places you explored, and great point about not breaking the lease, but got experience knowing what you may face when looking when you can move. I'd suggest since you work in Midtown, you'd have options closer to the west side on the Hudson (which should be quieter), or commute from the north since you'd have 123 and AC for transit -- even though you want to not commute, it should be shorter instead of all the way over in Brooklyn.

A lot of ppl in newyork talk about how high their prices are... but you dont have to have a car.... dont say for insurance , gas , and a car note .. that's thousands per month you're saving

I used to live in Brooklyn. Now, I live in Manhattan. If you're gonna move to The City. Get rid of the car. You won't need a can, living in Manhattan.

Well yes. It’s a huge city that brings in millions yearly and that millions of people flock to….. that’s like being shocked that a cruise ship is more expensive than a raft…..

Try finding a job more downtown. Living in the city will be a pain especially if it’s 1k more and you get pests. My first apartment I had roaches and it was a nightmare
