As a New York native, I've lived everywhere in NYC. My honest advice is not to live in the city (Manhattan). The prices are insane. Everything is overpriced. You can easily find a much more affordable place that's even bigger and better in any other borough. Believe me, you'll still have all the luxury and availability of the city with a much better budget. Definitely try Brooklyn or Queens. You won't be sorry 😀 Happy hunting! Love your videos!

If you can give up the idea of living in Manhattan itself, you could definitely find more affordable rents in the other boroughs. Since you love Arthur Ave so much perhaps an apartment in that area. Or parts of Queens and/or Brooklyn that are very close to Manhattan would work for you. Esp. since you can get some great views of the Manhattan skyline from those places.

There's a commercial I keep seeing on KZbin that says you can move as often as you want to many cities all over the world, and you move into fully furnished apartments every time you move, you stay as long as you want in one place then move to the next. A month in NYC, three in San Francisco, 2 weeks in San Diego, 2 months in Chicago, then back home to Nashville, or you could find an apartment in one of the cities if you fall in love with the city.

I’ve lived in a lot of apartments over the years before owning a house. One thing I experienced and seen with recent Tiktok stories is don’t rent a place at your top budget because they could easily raise the rent when your lease renews and you will be hunting for a new place again. Go for the 2nd or 3rd option if you think your budget couldn’t handle an increase the next year or so. I have seen a lot of people with 20%+ increase in rent since the pandemic.

Or go out to the suburbs and you can spend less money for a mortgage, and still be close enough to the city that you could go there whenever you want. While Manhattan is most definitely expensive, the other boroughs aren’t. Before she had me, my mom lived in the Rego Park/Forest Hills, Queens area and she commuted to work in Manhattan on the M and R. If you don’t mind taking the subway, you can very much live in Queens, Brooklyn or even the Bronx around Arthur Ave. Remember, transit is meant for EVERYONE Another thing to consider is to move to NJ, more specifically urban Hudson County. It still feels like NYC, but not quite. I used to live in Jersey City and I enjoyed the convenience of being right across the Hudson from Manhattan and being able to go there whenever I wanted without having to worry about the price just to commute like I do now for the LIRR. Jersey City, while now pricey due to housing demand, is still cheaper than Manhattan. But neighboring towns like Union City and Weehawken are cheaper and pretty good thanks to transit options.

I was hoping you will move here. If you ever consider moving - try Upper East Side ( close to York Av), Sutton Place, or Queens (Astoria, Long Island City).

Crazy prices. What about Brooklyn or Queens!? My friend that lives in Queens once said to me, "it only makes sense to live in NYC if you were born and raised there, otherwise why would anyone want to do that, considering the price and quality of life!?"

I had to smile over your expectations about an appartement. Here in germany in big cities like munich, Hamburg the rate is very high too. But i live in a little countryside in south germany there i pay nearly 500 Euro all costs included, for 55 m2( i dort know the US measures). I was shocked about the prizes in New York .

That a little under 600 square feet.

Such a personal question but for like 75k/year in rent what outside of KZbin is your profession?
@buickinvicta288 Жыл бұрын
I asked the same question.

I have always wondered that myself ? Because I can't imagine paying this much rent ?

When the KZbin fame ends they will be asking themselves what the hell were we thinking renting in NYC.

Dont bother with the balcony. you won't ever use it. also, you will have the problem of the furniture, laundry etc being blown off the balcony because of the wind -- being on a high floor makes it worse. And you will have to worry about the cat falling off the balcony unless you figure out a way to enclose the whole thing and maintain that from the elements.

Next time also look in Brooklyn. May be more affordable. But I have to say I feel like my favorite was the one that was $5000. lol I hope eventually you move there because you obviously love it; and I think Alessio's Italian/French heritage is more conducive to NYC.

Raleigh is a good place for techies and tubers - can buy a nice house and pay yourselves with that budget!

Raleigh isn’t cheap anymore, not NYC expensive but home prices have really jumped.

You two should team up with Cash Jordan. He has a KZbin channel dealing in New York City apartments. That would be a fun video.

I'm not surprised that the rent was so high. And those were some decent sized apartments. But if you really want to move to NYC, I'd suggest living in Queens. It's much cheaper. For that amount of rent money you could buy a house and pay the mortgage. Where I live in Queens, it's near enough to drive to Arthur Ave in less than 20 minutes, without traffic. You'd still be close to the city of you wanted to visit but it's nice and quiet. Even if you decide against living in NYC, I'm glad that you enjoyed your time here. Watching your NYC vlogs put a smile on my face. Buona fortuna per quello che fai ❤

You should look in Brooklyn. Great vibe, great spaces, great views, lower rent

In a PERFECT world, I would choose Apt. #1. Not inexpensive & slightly small, but it definitely says "NEW YORK CITY"!! But, I think you are smart to wait for now. Maybe rent another nicer VRBO apt you really love. You can visit all your favorite places, enjoy the BIG city vibe as long as you want, , then go back to your restful place in Nashville. Best of both worlds, & a lot less expensive! Wishing you both much happiness in this New Year! I hope all your dreams come true! ❤

Guys look at places in Westchester, you can commute into NYC, little Italy on Arthur Ave, etc... You can have a wonderful place... Bronx Love guyz😎

New Rochelle (east part of Westchester) has many new co-ops/ condominiums; commuter rail within walking distance. Western view... Long Island Sound, Southern view... towards NYC, Western view... N.J. Palisades.. Ignore any external pressure to rent in Manhattan... Breathe... Your place will come ✨️ 💛 😎😎😎

Check out Little Italy in the Bronx. Nice affordable pricing and not far from the city. I live there for many years. Although now I’m enjoying the beautiful weather in Florida. Good luck.
