FYI: with vegetable dyes/direct dyes like manic panic you need to appy on fresh, clean hair. Because they are only a coating over the hair, the less clean the hair when the color was applied the more run off and bleeding you will have. dyes that use an activator should be done on "dirty" hair to help protect the hair.

girllllll, this dye works so great on dark hair. I will definely buy ultra violet and use vol. 20 to lighten the ends :)

Last year in October I used Manic Panic Ulta Violet and it looked Blue in the sunlight...so shortly after that I used Purple Haze--which was purple but turned maroon after several wash days. But styling with oils made the color bleed more (always wash your hair in the sink). I used warm water with the shampoo first --then switched to cold water. This year, I decided to use Ion Brilliance Purple (Semi) PLUS Manic Panic Purple Haze and the color looks absolutely purple! Love it!! I left the color on ALL NIGHT and woke up to wash it out in the morning. That kept the bleeding to an almost none existent low! No bleeding when it came to styling or putting my hair in my hands. Currently I am slowly fading to lilac tips and brownish-purple-maroon. Love your hair!!! I am subbing!

also when using a semi permanent dye your hair should technically be clean and free of conditioner because conditioner already on the hair will prevent the dye from taking to your hair...

Hi your hair looks awesome. I dyed my hair and used Manic Panic purple haze and mixed in some ultra violet and yeah it faded to a dark red color. This time I'm using ultra violet by itself so I hope it comes out more true purple.

I've been reading that if you shampoo it when rinsing the color out, it helps with the bleeding that you get with some of the colors. Then just condition like normally ^_^ Also I read that it's good to condition with 1 part color and 2 parts conditioner and leave it in for about 5 minutes every once and a while to keep the color going.

If you want it bright..buy the manic panic bleaching kit first..then whichever color you choose. It lasts about 3 weeks..my hair was purple last year and I keep my hair flat ironed so I washed in cold water once a week. It faded after about 4 weeks. If you want it bright..go for the bleach first.
