One of the most underrated songs from one of the most underrated bands EVER
@jamiefoyers28002 жыл бұрын
I always think this is a video for our times. People think everything is okay, "It's normal" but take a look around you in the background...the reality is far different. I found the Manics dvd of all their videos and this one made an impact on me...both sides of the equation on view...
@21nemo21 Жыл бұрын
I have just came here in 2023, because the name "Manic Street Preachers" came to my head out of nothing. And I then thought- Oh my God, I know that I liked one particular song from this band 20 years ago. And bum, here I am, listening to this song and refreshing it in my memory. I have goosebumbs. What a music, still fresh, both happy and sad....

God I love these boys. From You Love Us to La Tristesse Durera to Faster to Design For Life to If You Tolerate This, Autumnsong to Small Black Flowers, this song and now Orwellian Times and everything in between. So much huge variation and all done so brilliantly. Still miss Richey though.

Still an absolute classic. Manics are the Greatest.
@doctorwhat36833 жыл бұрын
I’ve honestly forgotten how mental this album was. Only the Manics would release a post-punk revival song and a Beach Boys homage that references hyenas as singles on the same bloody day, and have a disco song that ends with the repeated refrain of “Braindead motherf***ers.” Oh god bless them
@waz31282 жыл бұрын
And it went over everyone's head. Less than 2 years later Interpol were reviving Post Punk, DFA and LCD Soundsystem were making disco cool again, The Thrills and The shins were making Beach Boys inspired Sunshine pop Not long after Arcade fire were the darlings of Indie producing a full album of songs using the same the production tricks used on ' So Why So Sad'' to make it sound old.

Things get clear when I feel free When whatever's next comes easily When gentle hands give life to me When your eyes fill with tiny tears When I'm this still you are my life When I'm this still you are my life So at ease in the midnight sky So at ease in the midnight sky But my insides will look like war My insides will look like war Paralysed except through my thought So why so sad You live and you love So why so sad Dependent on above Searching for the dead sea scrolls So why, so why so sad My smile as real as a hyena's My smile as real as a hyena's Burns an expressway to my skull Burns an expressway to my skull But I'll stick myself together again Spirit so low that I no longer pretend

This is why I love the Manics, they make people think about what is happening in the world and why we've not learned from our mistakes. Let's hope one day we'll learn from our mistakes and love each other but I am sure we're about to be annihilated by nukes.
