I'm so proud of you as I know doing a Ted Talk was a long-time goal of yours. Keep moving forward and I know that there are many more great things in your future.

Shannon, you've achieved so much by pursuing your ikigai. However, what advice would you give to someone who's struggling to identify their purpose and passions in life?

Hey Shannon, great talk! How can we balance pursuing our ikigai with practical responsibilities like earning a living and fulfilling daily obligations?

I get what she's saying but I'm still confused about how to apply it to myself. I don't know that anything I'm passionate about is valuable or could have positive impact and I don't think I'm good enough at any of my passions that could... at least not good enough to monetize it.

I don't really know what I'm good at tbh...

I appreciate the concept of ikigai, Shannon, but isn't it a luxury to solely focus on our passions? Many of us have practical responsibilities and financial needs that might not align with our passions.

Yes, the part of Ikigai that is "What you can be valued for" is that piece. Before I left teaching to pursue writing and speaking full-time, I made sure I had my house and vehicle paid off. Financial responsibility has to be taken seriously as well.
