This is a poor quality video of a gig by Roy Wood’s Helicopters from the early 1980s.
Back in the day before the internet, A group of us fans used to swap videos with each other.
I have no idea where or who this came from, but I do know it is a copy of a copy of a copy and one of the copies was poor with noise lines on it, It’s even lost the original colour from it, My copy (of a copy of a copy ;-) has been up in the loft for many years which I’m sure hasn’t done it any favours either.
Band members are Roy Wood, Jon Camp from Renaissance on bass, Paul Robbins, Mike Deacon from Darts on Keyboards, and the late Kex Gorin on drums.
I’m thinking that the video might have been done by students as a project at a college and university as the band did play at a lot a lot of gigs there, It’s only a guess though.
I’ve put this up because there will be a lot of fans who have never seen it and would prefer to see it in poor quality rather than not at all - So I hope you enjoy it anyway …

This footage reminds me so much of my best friend. He looked a lot like Roy, and he had been in a band. Then, he got persuaded into becoming a cop. After 3 months, he hated it. After 6 months, I got to attend his funeral. Someone murdered my best friend. This takes me back to the happier times before that. Miss you, Steve. Thank for this.

We met Roy at the original Robin R&b club years ago still have the photo . He's a good egg. keep on rockin. Roy 🎸🎸👍👍

Agree 100% I've got them all except Fire Brigade. I've even got Night Of Fear on the Deram label. I never liked the albums much, they tended to be experimental and nothing like the singles.

Thanks Martin so much. There was a video of this but it was short and I commented for someone to please post the whole show. It is fantastic and Roy's voice sounds beautiful. Of course another version of my favorite song "Forever" 😎 Never heard a lot of these songs live before. Thanks again, I love it! 💕

Hi, I thought for a live gig and the poor quality of the tape the audio was quite good, I just assumed it was a bit of a hum from the on stage amps, it's up to you if you want, but I wouldn't want to take this link down now, if it was redone I could just put another link to it from here I suppose, it's up to you if you want to give it a go - I don't know if the audio of a youtube video can be changed without losing views and comments?
