@yuyuretro2677 I don't think that was intentional...but yeah him being reckless... But maybe I'm wrong...But actually in the original comics he does actually try to save the plane, but it just makes it worse...He mentions this when Mev suggests trying to save the whole place and Homelander says it was impossible..He was right...But in The comics they make it clear the plane was impossible to save, by having Homelander actually try...But The show wants him to be really hated, so in the show they don't have him even try to save it...But it wouldn't have even mattered if he did..

All supes have the same baseline set of abilities. Aside from their unique powers. They all regenerate, and are more durable than normal humans. Similar to how (for story purposes) everyone is indestructible in “injustice”
