I’m in public watching this, trying not to tear up. My boyfriend is definitely manipulative. He gives me the silent treatment, he makes it seem like I’m crazy or overreacting when I get upset when I know that I’m not. Whenever I’m on the phone or texting someone and he asks who I’m talking to, I always let him know so that he doesn’t think that I’m talking to another guy. I was at his house yesterday, he went in the other room to talk on the phone and seemed a little secretive to me. When he got off the phone I asked who he was speaking to and he only said “my peoples” but wouldn’t tell me WHO. I got up and left because I’m just so fed up from other things. Now he’s acting like I’m wrong for feeling suspicious about it. Tired of him acting like my feelings are wrong 😤

If you live with someone, some people will switch around your items to make you believe that you didn't place things where you once did and take things from you just so they will make you seem that you're unorganized and careless. It's a small, but powerful tactic to make people lose their sense of self. I struggle with this with guys of interest, peers, and family, especially parents smh.. and I believe the inability to stand up for yourself and be confident in how you feel stems from your relationship with your parents or parent- figures. So if you struggle with that with them, then you’re likely to struggle with it with anyone else in your life... but how do you overcome and not let how you’ve been raised be a hindrance for you? That’s the big question that needs an answer, too.. but I guess it’s the same as what Asha said: get comfortable with saying what you’re not comfortable with; with saying no.... stand up and believe in your intuition and how you feel . What you said about sticking around because the person let’s you be you really HIT me. I put up with a lot of BS because a guy accepted some really hard truths about me. I thought no one would ever accept these things about me so pandered after him. I didn’t know it was being used as leverage. Our situationship consisted of me having to prove my love for him while he did minimal. Doing what he asked just made him devalue me more and more even though I was trying to make him happy. It was hard to let him go but I had too. His low self- esteem and constant mind games were draining.
