Friends don't let friends pour without mold release! Seriously folks, if you want your silicone mold to last as long as it possibly can, you NEED to use a non-silicone based mold release spray. The Ease Release 300 is ideal for resin and epoxy art because of its low-build up on the mold surface, leading to glossier, non-cloudy castings.
Using a silicone based spray (like Apel, Stoner, SO Universal Release) isn't going to protect a silicone mold. Think of it like putting acrylic paint over acrylic paint... it's just going to make a thicker layer of paint, right?
That's where the @smoothon Smooth On / Mann Ease Release 300 comes in. It's made of magical stuff, but not silicone. Applying it liberally to your mold interior and letting it dry before pouring your resin is going to create a near-invisible barrier to help harsh epoxy resin from possibly bonding to, and damaging your silicone mold due to tear out during demolding.
-The key difference between Ease Release 300 and Ease Release 200, as well as other mold releases such as the MG Chemicals 8329 is that this is a low build-up release. If you are a resin artist this is a huge benefit, as your castings come out with a gloss or semi-gloss finish instead of a cloudy/matte finish that can happen with other mold release products.
-Ease Release 300 provides excellent release with a semi-gloss finish. Precise duplication of mold details, less mold maintenance and down time which results in greater productivity.
-Ease Release 300 leaves very little build-up on the molds resulting from isocyanate or epoxy reactions, while maintaining part cleanability with common degreasing solvents.
-This product will release polyurethane elastomers, epoxy resin, polyester resins, RTV silicones, rubber, and thermoplastic polymers;
Ease Release 300 is effective on aluminum, chrome, RTV silicone, epoxy, rubber, and steel molds;
-Fast drying. Effective over a broad temperature range from 70°F to 500°F;
Precise duplication of mold details. Less rejects, faster production Matte finish.
