He's not wrong. Gelatinous Cubes are pretty weak. There has to be a second plot related to the cube. A cube by itself is for level 1s. For instance: An artifact or some sort inside the cube that the players must retrieve by first killing it. Or perhaps a skeleton all decked in armour that survived the acidic properties which means it must be magical- yet once they kill the cube, the skeleton, free to move, attacks the party. This will be where things turn sour as the party realizes that what they thought would be an easy encounter quickly turns deadly as a Death Knight equipped with magical armour attacks!

I thought the keys to the van would turn out to be in the villain’s pocket-in the boiler-so that two of our plucky adventurers would be forced to fight off the cube while one of them tried to pull the villain’s corpse out of the boiler. Also, since I did not initially think of the cube being made of maple syrup, I wondered if our heroes could have smashed a bunch of syrup bottles in front of the cube so it would be slowed or stuck by a giant puddle of sticky syrup on the ground. Or maybe pour syrup ON the cube and eat it before it eats them! I think I shouldn’t have made STR my dump stat to boost my INT and WIS. Now I always over-think things. Anyway, I came to this KZbin channel on the trail of the killers of my father, but-for reasons that don’t require exploring at this juncture-I have remained attached as a liaison with the Canadian consulate. And if you don’t get that reference to the Due South TV show about the adventures of RCMP Mountie Benton Fraser and his dog Diefenbaker in America, then I am saddened by your loss. I have enjoyed two CDs of the excellent music featured throughout the series, not to mention the DVDs of all the seasons.

Outta curiosity, what kind of cliche's could the gang get into in Germany? Personally (as an American) I'm remembering stories from deployed military buddies all being blackout drunk during Oktoberfest, but other than that I can't think of many modern stereotypes about the country... whatcha got? = )

While I absolutely love the D&D rap, I really miss the old ending song. IT'S D ANNNNNNNNNND D summoning the demons of hell....

I never quite got it: don't the demons stem from the Abyss and not from Hell? You would get in serious trouble in you confused a Devil for a Demon...

@@Harrowed2TheMind I always assumed it was reference the 80's controversy where religious parents thought D&D was teaching kids occult rituals, witchcraft, and summoning demons from hell.

The whole "we'll walk around it" as a dm I feel your pain! But my players are crazy they would find a way to try and tame it!!

To get them to kill the cube you just say "you can see loot inside of it". Then they struggle and fight and you reveal it was just a rolled up Celine Dion poster. When they get mad all you have to do is say "I didn't say it was VALUABLE loot". It's a great way to lead those pesky players by the nose and make them paranoid of everything you say in the future.

When the DM asks for a roll and tells you it for nothing, you might as well start rolling up a new character.
