I wholeheartedly agree with "creativity has no rules, but makeup has a theory" on so many levels.... i'm a comic artist and painter, I apply the same basic color theory be it when I'm painting on screen, canvas, and my face 🤣 When MakeUpGeek introduces the "matrix system", I immediately recognize it as applying "value". It's one of many theories that work both in makeup and painting. Understanding color wheel helps a lot too. ☺️💕

every single “influencer” does their makeup exactly the same. matte full coverage foundation with beauty blender, mention “oxidation,” draw heavy light concealer triangles, contour somewhere that seems to work while talking about how great that brush blends it out. repeat with blush. make sure you make your nose narrow even if you don’t need it. do some basic eyeshadow and talk about FALLOUT OOOOH. never be able to do anyone else’s makeup. repeat jeffree star catch phrases loke “ok then!” “i don’t even mind this” “....the house!” “ooooh hello there”. robert actually knows how makeup is supposed to work and can do more than 1 look on more than 1 face with more than 1 type of skin... and he does it all without trying to make people think he’s sooo cool for saying “omg that’s so snatched!”

another thing about "oxidizing" -- often when makeup dries (just the evaporation of the water component), the color can change, just like it does with something like tempera paint. it's not oxidizing; it's just drying. people who talk about foundation "oxidizing" within 10-15 minutes of application are using the wrong term and don't really understand what's going on. this problem is SO common among beauty influencers.

You know what I love? I love and deeply appreciate how totally real your feelings are about this. I will be 37 next month. I'm very slowly coming to terms with the fact that I have splotchy skin and wrinkles. So I've have been trying to learn how to do makeup for the first time in my life (except for my eyes. I cannot give up the glitter. I've cut down, but can't stop. I quit smoking cold turkey, but this is harder). Following certain, um, gurus and using their advice is NOT the path to success for me, I have found. Between this channel and Wayne Goss, I finally feel like I have found a home for me. Thank you, gentlemen, and thank YOU, community, for accepting me. I LOVE reading the comments and seeing even more tips!

I love this series. These influencers just need...to stop. My favorite is when they're doing a (non-sponsored) review of a foundation and they will straight up use 4 pumps of it (all while saying they're just going to take a tiny bit), proceed to put it on, and then criticize it for looking cakey or bad. 🤔🤔🤔🤔 Weird how using half the bottle won't look good.

And you can check out his subscriber suggestion vidoes to see if he mentions it. People even send in vidoes. It almost looks like you have a heart shape face, but I’m not sure.
