@@luxofficial7 I've play alot of "Farthest Frontier, Frost Punk, Xcom, Anno 1800, Anno 2070, Ages of Empires, Halo Wars and Command and Conquer series." So far my most fav is Anno 1800, followed by Farthest Frontier because i can build and relax more with them. Also i'm currently trying out Outpost: Infinity Siege. that's been undergoing alot of patches since launch. I'll add Manor Lords when it comes out.

God the UI is so smooth and responsive I want to eat it. I don't even like medieval stuff despite being a fantasy action and sim fan... But I would give this a shot because its so fluid. And to support a great product from indie devs (dev in this case)

teams of 50 usually create their own assets and don't cobble everything together from the asset store. Calling this game made by a solo dev is highly misleading when he outsources most of the work to contractors.

@@memento81 I think you are right, he did hire out work. How much I don't know but clearly it wasn't like he had a huge team. I'm sure he did a substantial amount of the work. How much did it cost him to develop the game up to the beta release? Just curious. Also, buying assets, and using Unreal Engine vs going ground up just makes sense. You can tell looking at the game that it was done in Unreal, and probably uses assets bought right off the marketplace. Doesn't matter in the end.

@@MH44444 for the resulting game, it indeed doesn't matter. What does a consumer care how many people worked on a game as long as it is fun and well made. For that narrative of the single guy doing all the stuff usually to be expected from a full studio, yes, it matters. It actually debunks it as a romantic phantasy.

Pretty amazing that it's a solo developer (I know there are others involved for some of the other work and all but still). I feel like indie development gives the industry a lot more room for innovation and experimentation. AAA titles are stuck with the same problems as the film industry: who is going to gamble their career with greenlighting a project that may not get even close to succeeding on a scale enough to pay for development?

Unreal, Godot, Unity, megascans, assets packs, a proliferance of tutorials, and the rise of AI to answer questions and problems, and rough in code is bringing us into the age of the indie AAA solo dev

Indie is the future, AAA are overrated, I was checking an article recently where they showed the increase in sales of indie game titles by 70% on steam such things were never seen before. I would love to know if this is using the blueprint system or coding in C++ I’ve never used unreal, but heard alot of people rave about blueprint and I’m still trying to understand how powerful it is, as being a software engineer, I would assume coding is still the stronger option, but I guess it depends on the tool.

yes, the entire game is coded and managed by one dev from poland, it is known that things such as sound effects, music, some graphics or icons were made by someone else. It's still very impressive

Super nice looking game, but from what I've seen it does look extremely laggy after only reaching a population of 2k-3k and that's on a good PC. Furthermore when a raid happens on your town after getting to a multi-thousand strong city, it will drop your FPS to single digits and that's obviously not optimal at all to have an enjoyable experience. I think this game because it's so extremely overhyped, will underperform.. too much work and hype for a single dev to handle. And this is not me bashing the dev, the dev have literally said that people are completely changing the optics for this game and what it's suppose to be. So obviously this dev will face a hail of hate and get review bombed on steam, hopefully he's ready for it and just keeps on working on his passion project.

there are plugins that offer you the possibility to have thousands of AI on the screen and keeping 200 fps. While UE4 by default can't tolerate 20 AI without dropping below 30 fps. This is outrageous! Same for Landscape.. a lots of features are not implemented, while they should be in the Default Version. Things like Offset on the landscape that is not added. So Cars jump when you drive for exemple..

#Unrealengine you guys should start on your youtube channel free courses on how to encourage solo developers to start building their dream game using your engine, and you can do this by seperating different game genre tutorial like you a list of tutorial on how to build a strategy game, then a list on how to build a 3rd person game and first person game etc .. i know its a lot of work especiall since you udate your engine frequently however you will win on the long run when all devs start using your engine to build their games.. i for example want to build a yower defense game but i have 0 knowledge about anything regarding this field and i have been a gamer for the last 15 years of my life

@@ronaldwoofer5024 hard to decrypt your reply. I'm an UE Dev for over half a decade lol, I know it has issues with large extent scaling present in modern rts games. MMO is a completely different topic more to do with server scaling and reliability and streaming (which UE has but is server based) There are also cases of severe performance issues (lag, stutter, loading issues, etc) in ML, likely due to above.

Love how definition of a "game" shifted so drastically. It's nothing more then glorified tech demo , "game" has 1 map with 1 scenario and from what videos are available of ppls who actually pushed this project performance it's slideshow , completely unplayable at over 1k entities on this tiny map. 2 weeks from now ppls gonna criticize how there's nothing to do. But as always "as it looks pretty" nothing else matters right? Save your money kids, buy anime pillows you get more value out of that.
