Mansfield fan here. Looked a game of two tired sides after the Xmas schedule. I feel we sat back too much 2nd half, but it was probably down to our strikers not being fully fit. Good luck for the rest of the season.

@@StuartMorrell I agree I think you threw what you had against us in the first half, if County performed in the second half like they did in the second half against Birmingham we’d of beat you but we just showed no energy all game. A new striker is priority. However Bate's performances gotta be catching the eye of Championship clubs. And so too Ethan Pye. To lose both plus Barry will be a massive hole to fill. With the stadium upgrade draining the coffers County better be out & about scouting new players.

We need two strikers. Woots is decent but needs a partner. Tanto is struggling but he will come good but I would send him on loan for 2 months. 1 centre back as cover for horsfall. A big unit with pace in midfield. I would look at u21 squads see who is scoring goals but again I would put that wonderkid on the bench let him get used to our game. Push touray up as winger on the left.

Agree that the performance was terrible. I just couldn't see where the goal was coming from despite having all that possession... so much slow play without any feeling we were posing a threat. You could feel it in the crowd as well, which isn't what you want. Probably a battering awaits at Palace but it is the FA Cup and I will be happy if they give a good account of themselves. I am more worried about the rest of the season... key players out injured, no Louie replacement and I agree, I don't think County have the resources to sort it out quickly - nor is there necessarily the quality out there. Wootton is working really hard but I think the chance against B'ham showed that he isn't where he needs to be right now and just lumping long balls up to him isn't going to win games.

Pre season I said a finish above 16th would be a good finish for 1st season back in lge 1 and I am still saying it. If we don't recruit this month then expect to be mid to lower table. If funds are not available then u21 loan deals it is. Something has to change. We are 7th by luck at the moment.

I made a similar prediction about where we would finish. I get frustrated when fans talk about us finishing in the play-offs or higher like it's a foregone conclusion. This is our first season in league one and it's more competitive than usual. It will take time for us to adapt. Whilst frustrated that periodically the team seem to forget they are all supposedly signed up to the DC passing game, I can see progress. Players who have received a lot of flack (Connolly, Bailey, Diamond etc.) actually seem like they are slowly becoming decent league 1 players. Knoyle back is a plus. If our mid-field go direct for goal more often it should take pressure off Woots and Tanto. Never expected much of a return from the Huddersfield, Rotherham and B'ham games, but I though we handled ourselves well. Against B'ham we had no Barry, Bate or Horsfall suggesting we can deal with key players being out. What is missing is consistency but that will come over the next couple of seasons. Realistically I expect a challenge for promotion in 2026/27. Let's have more patience and enjoy being competitive in League 1!

B4 the season started there were the L1 predictions for finishing order. Most penciled in SCFC at 11th or 12th. Spot on me thinks.

I think you are right that having Barry was "papering over the cracks" and detracting from the overall shortage in quality of the rest of the squad. A lot of the "promising" signings have turned out to be mediocre at best. Woots, although a grafter hasn't handled the step up and is still playing like a Div. 2 striker, spending more time on his backside than on his feet. For me, at least Fiorini, Connelly, & Diamond can go. Serious strikers needed at least to stop the weekly drop down the table. Dreading the Palace game, where County could be made to look a laughing stock, I hope not.

Well that was bloody awful and as I have commented on here after the Bradford cup game it.was alarming how poor our B listers looked especially upfront. Time to raise questions about summer recruitment- Addai- a terrible signing, Hughes simply doesn't look up to it, Diamond absolutely no end product, Fevrier has done nothing, Mingi- Challinor clearly doesn't rate him to have bombed him out of the squad completely today (wasn't injured said County stream) Florini done absolutely nothing Mellon nothing, Onyango - indifferent Adaramola nothing Some rate Wootton based on him running a lot, but I class him as a league 2 or National League plodder...not good enough. Towards the end of the game when he was starting to throw himself on the floor to win a penalty was frankly embarrassing Matt Smith of Salford who retired in the summer would have been better leading the line this season over Wootton The difference was the strikers- they got a.chance on goal and BANG in the back of the net A.side note - love this channel and rate your opinions but to question Hinchliffe for the first goal your ver😂y wrong Rob I was sat side on it was a quality strike and no keeper would have saved it- it was like a excercet missile from a quality striker- unlike County's plodders

Recruitment has been very weird in the summer, too few of them have been a good signing and too many if them look league 2 quality, but I'd have taken top 15 at the start of the season

@@henshall2204 I think in all fairness to the summer recruits they’ve not really had a great deal of opportunity either, I don’t think Challinor trusts them but he’s a bit stuck now as he’ll need to use the squad to get through the season.

County have not been with it for weeks. Too many mistakes and lack of goal scoring threat. There seems to be no plan two. It’s always boot it and hope wootton gets his head on it. We need a goal scorer or we will get no were

Annoying aswell as I don’t think anyone’s really blown me away this season other than maybe Wycombe of course, I’ve always felt in the other games it’s been us who haven’t played well enough rather than the opposition just being too good.
