I disvovered them in 2003, on a Mexican broadcasting of a Jools Holland re-run. Yeah, things arrive quite late in Mexico. Been a huge Mansun ever since though!

I used to hang around with the original drum machine programmer in Chester in the mid 90s, he invited me to one of their early gigs at the Tiv in Buckley (North Wales) and I remember being instantly blown away by their sound. I was lucky enough to have them as the one of the main bands that provided the soundtrack to my early 20's, and I lost count of how many times I saw them live during my uni years. Paul has one of the best voices I have ever heard and I rate him as a singer alongside Dave Gahan and Martin Gore. How so much creative talent can come out of Connah's Quay is beyond me, but I'm grateful nevertheless.

Heard it first time in 2001, it was a cassette tape, playing in my car. Still remember it was late night and instead of turning towards home I took a longer route and kept the song on repeat. The music was just mesmerizing

Music in the 90's produced some incredible bands....but they don't get the recognition they deserve, it's an unknown era by so many... Mansun were so talented... their music was quite distinctive and layered...always reminded me of a a dark movie soundtrack, their albums were good 'albums'...AOTGL was a superb end to end listening experience.

Too true. So many quality britpop bands that were unfortunately always living in the shadow of Oasis and Blur. Sleeper, Mansun, Echobelly, Gene, Marion, Shed Seven, Cast, Ash.

Haha wouldn't blame him for travelling from Derby - quality :-) Oh my god Mansun were terrific. In my opinion the best performances were when Paul did his little thrusting dance; for example Six on TFI in 99... yum yum! Seriously though, they still give me the shivers. Sniff! xx

I'd love to hear this song in a rock version, with loads of guitar distortions as it's too pop for my tastes, although Paul's voice is just insane and makes the song a gem anyway. One of the best singers ever.

Apart from the vocal range of the lead singer, they are quite different, Mansun being more of a guitar band, A-ha more electronic, but Mansun were so much more experimental, as you can hear in the more prog album preceding this one, 'Six' and even on their debut (both were intended to be concept records).
