I've listened to this episode twice this week and the Warrior, Lover and Magician episodes too, they have pulled me from the brink of suicide, into an overwhelming grief for the life I could have had if I hadn't been in my shadow and that I have lived a life trapped as an infant/child in man's body. Today I feel release and relief as I step into the light after a lifetime (47years) in darkness. Thank you for posting this you saved and changed a man's life by doing so. ❤🙏

I'm in the middle of reading this book (King, Warrior, Magician, Lover by Robert Moore and Douglas Gillette), just finished 'The King' chapter. This is an amazing book. I suggest all to read it as it has so many insights that are just plain inspirational (for lack of a better word...reinvigorating can be another). Amazing book so far.

This really is a magnificent half an hour. Of the many profound and helpful points of wisdom and insight dropped here, the most striking one for me is how the figures which loom large in media, social media and 'celebrity' history and get most of our attention are the 'shadow king' figures: Trump, Netanyahu, rulers of despotic regimes and 'Western leaders' whose desperate quest for power and position has corrupted them to varying degrees of impotence, hypocrisy and falsehood. It disturbs me that these are becoming the 'norm'. As a man who has done 'men's work' for over 30 years, it has both shaken and inspired me to cultivate my own inner sovereign. As a first step, I am spending a rainy afternoon cleaning and organising my bedroom and moving outward through the 'kingdom' from there! It so starts at home! All Blessings on those who quest for their own sacred kingship!

Oveall, I think this is very good summary and I got quite a lot of clarity out of it. To me the bit about "maximizing praise, minimizing punishment" might benefit from a little more elaboration. Some people might interpret that as making room for a overly permissive attitude that surely you'd agree cannot be the proper embodiment of the king archetype and must be the weakling creeping in. As you say in the beginning, one of the primary roles of the king is to uphold the order of the life-giving principle. Of course we agree the good king should use praise as the preferred manner of guiding the correct behavior of his subjects. But when necessary, surely he must not shy away from delivering punishment as swiftly as he does praise? Surely a good king cannot be disposed to favor peace when the rules that bring order to the kingdom are breached and stern action is required. Given the moral decay of the modern age, might not many of your listeners coming to this information for the first time, find their kingdoms in chaos and infested with shadow king fathers and shadow queen mothers, abusive partners, siblings etc that are surely more justly deserving of punishment (used appropriately) than praise in order to restore order to one's kingdom? Blessings.

I love the way you speak and articulate the meanings of this archetype. Although you started to trail off on a tyrannical attack against Trump, which isn’t a positive virtue of the King energy to exude. Because you’re pulling out pieces about him that you dislike when there is another side to him you’ve failed to study up on. This is a man that paid off a families mortgage for fixing his flat tire on the road. He does little things like that which goes ignored. This isn’t excusing his tweets, which I’m sure are juvenile. I don’t sit around reading his tweets or any of that toxic energy, but you are spending too much time obsessing over that. You don’t want to fall into that pattern of an unhealthy obsession over a President you personally dislike. It’ll also age this video since it’s not like he’s gonna be President indefinitely. And his behavior isn’t much different than the way those who hate him behave. Otherwise you were on to making a fantastic video. Just need to work on the shadow side of not marginalizing an entire group of people because you despise one person they dislike. A true King will research the light side of this shadow character that good people feel drawn to and seem to see the good in. You have an emotional detachment to it, which isn’t condoning it either. That’s not defending him since I remain balanced and in the middle to be able view things from an objective perspective. And I know you do to in general other than getting off topic over using this video as a reason to excitedly compare the shadow side of the King to Trump. Aside from that made a great video and I love the way you describe and breakdown the archetypes.
@Nr1Suchti5 жыл бұрын
In my ears what he did there was not a tyrannical attack, it was calling out one very prominent example of many existing people that embody the disfunctional shadow-side of the King Archetype. Regardless of the political stance somebody takes, I believe it is correct to take Donald Trump and his behaviour that he displays in public as an example for a person with great power, moving and acting in the realm of Boy-Psychology and the shadow-side of the King Archetype. (Which in my mind does'nt exclude also acknowledging his paying a families mortgage or other positive sides that are also part of his 'complete' persona) I just listened to this episode and as far as I realized he mentioned Trump one time as an example, I don't see him trailing off on anything or marginalizing an entire group. Do I miss something out?

I also noticed that Trump's generosity and message to the people illustrates part of the King archetype mentioned in this video regarding praising the family system and doing actions for the servitude of others.

Very good content, thank you. A shame that the choice of injecting personal politics must have been irresistible...from that moment forward, the remaining message had the stain and distraction of polarization. I volunteered to Serve my country, and defend your right of free speech, as well as my own free choice...if I don't like it I can simply find a less polarizing source. Unfortunately, you have now alienated half your audience so I can not share this video, or subscribe. Ironically, giving in to the low-road temptation is the very essence of the Shadow King. Fortunately this same info is available elsewhere, but without the low-road personal dig...so I will still help spread the important message, but will use a different KZbin channel that is less polarizing.

Great explanation, very clear!! Can you explain a bit about the 'King maximizes praise' part? I associate praise with something that is of the ego, as you also explained with people who embody the shadow king.. So I don't understand why the king would maximize praise (instead of peace or well-being for example.)

Great episode! I would, however disagree with one thing: King Joffrey is in deed the spoiled prince who abuses power and seeks status and reign for their own fragile ego, but so is Donald Trump, a 74yo immature man-child that needs constant validation. The Tyrant is someone like Tywin Lannister, or even Cerci Lannister, and in our own world someone like Dick Cheney. The tyrant takes advantage of the king's position for their own personal gain not to heal feed fragile ego, but to quench their unquenchable thirst for power, dominance and control, disregarding the king's calling to nurture, help and cultivate is people.

If someone isn’t “being a king” than who’s doing what????? Someone has to be a queen or a leader of the environmental situation they are in. That is being responsible for yourself and assuming the people around you feel the same. Keep at it.
