Functionally, at least from the EVTM for the 1997 Mark VIII, the stock PCM (104 Pin EEC-IV) communicates over the SCP Network (PWM J1850) to the Message Center for vehicle speed which looks like it is derived from the transmission vehicle speed sensor, which is located in the transmission housing. How did you retain this function? I though this speed was scaled by the PCM and sent to the dash module over SCP to control the speedometer. Did you recreate the vehicle speed target on the new manual transmission? Also, interesting with the change to a manual transmission is the fact that the engine cam design, and along with the air intake runner control, are targeted towards using an automatic transmission (higher torque at lower rpms). After driving the car, do you have any thoughts on engine operational range (torque available per engine RPM) when using the manual? Another consideration is the final drive, which here again is setup for an automatic. There are a lot of operational differences between an automatic and manual transmission drivetrains.

More like a ported short runner cobra intake and some aftermarket cams and 4.30-456 gears the b head cobras love them super steep gears and this heavy ass b headed lincoln will def love the steeper gears. 4.10 is good but since its manual id go with 456s unless its forced induction then 410-430 depending on power level.

What headers did u find that fit? Or did u have modify them to fit? I cut the cat off the driver side stock exhaust manifold and welded pipe to it going down past the steering shaft but that was the tricky part, the damn steering column shaft. I just assumed nobody made headers that would clear it. I plan to turn them around for a turbo in the future but I just started it for the first time yesterday since rebuilding the engine and trans (auto) with all forged parts

@@diegougaz7727 Ya I remember it being too easy I think. The computer on the mark receives two speed inputs from the 4r70w. One of them you get rid of and it gets "tuned out". If I remember right the one speed sensor that I kept was the same exact sensor. It's been 2 years so forgive my memory.

Somebody did the old swap out before I got possession of it, and I want it to be air ride!!
@96LM85 жыл бұрын
So it took me maybe about 6 months of my weekends partially devoted to it. It probably cost around 2500-3000 dollars. It's hard to get an exact number because I didn't keep track and I did some other mods at the same time. It does require a professional tune that I didn't do. Lol I live in Northern Colorado! Maybe I will do a build breakdown video or something because you are not the only curious person.

@@jasonnean2795 I'm the original owner of a '97 Mark VIII LSC. I had to convert my HID low beams in 2008. Replaced the left side ballast in '07, but when the right side went out a year later, we couldn't find a replacement. Discovered that Lincoln began using a different ballast in the middle of the model year, and the old ballast is not compatible with Marks built after the switchover. Mine was built shortly after the cut over. I'm not a fan of the halogen conversion, but at least it has allowed me to keep it on the road for 15 more years! It still drives like a dream. Only 101K miles. After watching this video, I have a nice retirement project to consider next year!
