Manual transmission using Redline oil destroyed my transmission?

Do not change manual transmission fluid until you watch this with redline mt85 how to or you can destroy your transmission with gl5 or gl4 fluid find out. watch and find out if redline fluid destroyed my transmission. 2014 Hyundai elantra gt.

Always remember to remove the top plug before the bottom one. And that's because if you remove your lower plug and drain the fluid and then realize that the top plug is seized or you just can't get it off now your screwed.

I don't understand what your video has to do with a title questioning whether or not the Redline damaged your transmission. All it shows is draining out an unknown fluid and refilling with Redline. What am I missing here?

Mountain Biker I wouldn’t put too much faith in a southern meth head changing transmission fluid in a storage unit lot.

Oh what a reply... the fluid looks like the bottom of the tinfoil in his floorboard. BURNT! I wonder if he uses the same pump to syphon anhydrous...🤔 and I’m pretty sure the Bluetooth earpiece is just to throw off suspicion when he’s really tweakin and talking to himself. How many times has he changed the fluid in this car now?

My car responded very well to it but I had called the company first and got their recommendations - it’s important to use exactly the right spec

*You should ONLY use GL-4 rated gear oil in MOST synchronized manual transmissions. DO NOT USE anything marked with GL-5, GL-4/5, GL-4+, MT-1, ect the label should only state "GL-4" and nothing else.*

I have read about it alot that transmission oil other than OEM recommended should not be used in any condition

@@awaisiqbal8934 Manual transmissions use gear oil and in the case of synchronized manuals it has to be GL-4 which does not have sulfur because other gear oils (such as GL-5) will destroy the brass synchros in a manual transmission. lt doesn't matter if the gear oil is OEM or not (you are confusing with automatic transmissions) what does matter is that it is GL-4.

Actually, there are dual rated (GL-4 and GL-5) "total driveline" oils too and they're stated as synchronizer compatible. In fact, when i needed to change the MT fluid my car's brand official dealer sold me one of those instead of the phased out GL-4 factory filled Castrol. According to the MSDSs they appear to contain a tiny amount of sulfur (it's actually called di-tert-butyl polysulphide), enough to give GL-5 performance (and a rotten egg smell too) but not to cause synchro issues.

@@teravolt6113 Claims are not promises. GL-5 did NOT supersede GL-4. Even today currently produced vehicles call for ONLY GL-4 fluid only! If your vehicle calls for a GL-4 spec fluid use a GL-4 spec fluid only. If you try a dual rated fluid with GL-5 capability you may get lucky or not.

GL5 only can TARNISH the syncos, it will not destroy them. Urban myth. If you need an oil with (Haploid gears) friction modifiers, then please use oil with them.

@Ben Zo False, the added sulfur and extra additives will literally peel away the brass coatings on manual synchronizer gears, it's been proven with testing.

And now we began an endless discussion , please provide arguments, I’ve heard Gl-5 has 7% of Extreme pressure additives, which cause a lot of slip on the sycronizers.where Gl-4 use only 2% of Ep additives. I saw that all Gl-5 is synthetic where Gl-4 is mineral.

@natan ravel Even the car manufacturers almost always specify GL-4 for typical self contained manual synchronized transmissions. The reason why is that there are also specific GL-4 additives that make for smooth shifting in this application. Some GL-4 are entirely synthetic while others are semi-synthetic, and some that are mineral based only. There are rare exceptions where the differential is connected to the manual tranaxle Subaru 4wd is a good example and they spec GL-4/5 fluids to meet the needs of both applications. They are rare exceptions though. It's odd and interesting to note that here in the USA and Canada it is VERY difficult to find GL-4 gear oil on the typical brick and mortar shelves even now. Not to mention that major brands like Shell Spirax S4 G, Castrol Syntrans, and others are absent from our market entirely.

watershed44 here in Brazil is common to find gl-5 oil stated for differential use only, as the majority of cars here is front wheel drive, the transaxle always use the same oil as the gearbox, gl-4 oil is always mineral and semisynthetic, I never found a synthetic gl-4 oil here.

@natan ravel Do you have specific GL-4 ONLY fluids right on the shelves at your local auto parts stores? In the USA you might find things that are GL-4/5, or GL-4+, but almost never just "GL-4". Do you have Castrol Syntrans 75w-90 GL-4 or Shell Spirax S4 G 75w-90 GL-4 on the shelves there? Thanks.
