@@swamppifi6186 it's just a miracle that several countries in the west were able to advance quickly and spread influence and tech to the rest of the west. But for majority of world's population, these are not old ways, this is just how things are and will be for a while. In Pakistan, where they produce parts from scrap, in India, where they use Sterling diesels to the day for agriculture, electricity and transport, in rural China where they produce anything from leftovers and garbage plastic, im Africa, where civilization gets in form of 20-year old Toyotas with 1 million om odometer. Wow, this Pattern Maker has skills! It would be great if you could tell us more about the locale of these videos and maybe explain the reasoning behind making such a huge effort to build a complete engine block from the casting up. Is this a reproduction of a part that can no longer be found in the used market? Is the machine it goes into so rare and important that it must be repaired? These are fascinating videos. The original engine block is made by Perkins of Peterborough, England. The engine itself, is a successor version to the venerable A3/AD3 - 152 engines of the 60s, famously used in Massey Ferguson 35 and 135 agricultural tractors respectively. This block the KZbin posters are using is distinguished by its more squared of design, rather than the more rounded and organic lines of the engine block from which this version is derived. I believe the technique used to develop the later style block was called finite element analysis, whereby a computer programme would use a series of basic geometric shapes, such as squares, rectangles and triangles to describe the surface of the block, within the computer programme. This information would then be used to create the pattern or patterns. Cores would also be required for the inner surfaces of the engine, such as the bores, water jacket, and oil galleries etc. To the best of my knowledge, Perkins' facilty in Peterborough, is merely an assembly plant, I don't believe that they have their own Foundry to produce the raw castings - this process would be farmed out to some other local firm, with dedicated facilities, specifically for the production of castings.

As a pakistani i can confirm this too😂 that dress (extremly loose and thin ) is extremely dangerous when working around machines. They wouldnt use safety gear as it would get a lot warmer. Safety shoes would make their feet swollow of sweat and safety pants are thick which is a disadvantage against heat. Imagine working in safety gear when outside temprature is 47 degress celcius ( about 116 fahrenheit) . The workshop inside is a lot warmer than this. I am noway in favour of unsafe work but they would just die with heat as bosses dont offer any temprature controls in the workshops or offer some kind of thin clothes with better air circulation.
