It's more Melnibone than Atlantis. Warhammer uses so much from Michael Moorcock and the Sword of Khaine is so obviously Strombringer.

I personally never got totalwar games until the warhammer ones, there is just something about the heroes and magic that makes it stand out more, its the closest to the old 'shadow of the horned rat' games from my childhood. Plus no other game lets you watch dinosaurs fighting dragons :P. If you ever are interested but don't want to commit, as the games can be costly when not on sale, warhammer 3 (and I think 2?) is on the game pass, you don't get the DLC but you don't need it unless you are playing the particular lord in that dlc pack

I think my favorite part of this is that, while Jon's clearly not actively going for it, he's actually *sooooo* close to the proper Skaven weapons team Doomstack. Basically just throw in a couple more plague priests to summon extra chaff, maybe add in a mortar or two, and he's there.

a shame warhammer is not a more popular series on channel. Would love to see Jon lead a rat infested nuke happy trigger kingdom. I also think the game has a lot of fun and random self imposed challenges could make himself. One youtuber tried a game of elven domination and challenge was trying to find a way to make an alliance between mortal enemies and half way across world. I could easily see Jon do little research and have some fun whacky challenge.

Sad to see the Beastmen get beat up. One of my favourite campaigns was playing Beastmen, running around with a full stack army of nothing except Minotaurs and Cygors (with a second army of fodder) terrorising every faction in the game.

I'm watching my mates cats while he's at a festival, he has a rad spec PC and I have game pass ultimate, but only a console. I installed game pass on his PC because I wanted to check out what's available on it for pc, lo and behold TW: warhammer 3 is on it and I've been playing it for the first time and loving it. Although my mates cat decided to fall asleep on my mouse hand so I've had to come off it, it is 4am so probably a good thing.

Warhammer Fantasy facts; The meta-lore is that the high elves are how the US sees itself, and the Dark Elves are how the rest of the world experience the US. Which is why the Dark Elves inhabit the NA looking landmass and the High Elves live on the one with no real world parallel. Also, Skaven are British fascists.

they changed a few things graphically, the biggest issue is still snow and desert blinding people but there has been a post that CA are trying to fix that. Personally I use the 'geforce experience' to sharpen things and change the contrast etc but its a constant fiddle that then gets wiped whenever the driver updates (seriously, its been years, that thing needs to remember profiles already)

Depends entirely on your computer. Streamers I’ve seen are around 15 to 30 seconds.

They did an amazing patch that massively reduced turn times. For me, the end then was at least three times faster. It seems to be slower for immortal empires, but that seems to be largely because there are over 270 factions now.

I think every faction now having siege-able settlements could have some balance issues for factions like Dwarfs and Greenskins with the former having great defensive units and the latter sucking badly at it. We’ll just have to see but I think this could partly exacerbate the problem mortal empires had with the “order tide.” Where all the good races would become unstoppable.

What's even more ridiculous is that the game could, and likely will, be even larger. Like, there's a crapton of factions that just either aren't in the game or aren't playable but easily could be; the Southern Realms (Spain, Italy and the Balkans) aren't playable, and neither is the evil part of France (redundant). Both have been NPC factions since Warhammer 1. Araby, a whole entire country that was on the lore and tabletop? Not on the game, at all, despite multiple bits of the map referencing it. Neither are the pygmy or amazon tribe equivalents, although admittedly I can see issues on that front so honestly I won't complain. Then we get to Warhammer 3. The Chaos Dwarfs aren't there at all, despite them being central to Grimgor's backstory; Ind and Nippon aren't there despite having had lore books for the tabletop. That's four entire factions that aren't in the game simply because they didn't have enough time or budget to code them yet, and you bet your sweet buttocks that they're gonna try to add them in for DLCs or TWWH4. These people are insane and not to be trusted, and frankly I don't care and will give them my money immediately if it lets me play as the funny bull cultists with the big hats going Adeptus Mechanicus on some goblins and turning themselves to stone with wacky magic.

Chaos dawfs are 100% coming, there is already triggers for them in the game and intro dialogue for one of their lords. Araby, ind and Nippon are odd, there is clear locations for them that have been sectioned off but CA has said there is no plans for them (at lest at the time they made that post, things do change). I get the feeling there is something going on with games workshop and those factions, probably something to do with 'the old world' table top, either they want to revamp them or are just wanting to focus on cathay and kislev finally getting their armies to drum up hype
