Never considered MotoZ tires until watching your videos, & now they are the only tires on my bikes. The Desert HT had amazing road performance on my 690 on an 8 day ride in Colorado included sections of the BDR, and the million dollar highway in the rain. The Adventure & Dual Venture were my choice on my Africa Twin for the ID BDR and were perfect on road and off road situations. I only swapped out for a GPS rear for a ride to the Yukon and the Dempster Highway. They preformed great on the frozen and muddy unpaved sections I rode, and it was easy to change after a rear flat. Both sets that were mounted on the Africa Twin show very little wear after the trips, and the GPS rear did 8,851 miles from AZ, Alaska, the Dempster,and back. It looks like it could easily do another 4K. Thanks for the great videos and convincing me that although they cost more, the MotoZs are well worth it.

Funny, both times I have ridden the Million $ highway it was in the rain. Beautiful rainbows though... and a run from the popo for not going 25 mph ;) Motoz tires go the distance, that is for sure. Thank you for your support. Sounds like you had some great trips / memories on these tires!

A little noise for lots of traction and longevity, I'll take it. A few more PSI in the tires fully loaded on the highway makes them much quieter. I run 40ish in those situations and they are pretty quite.

All so true 👍Good expozay my friend. Just ordered Motoz Tractionator Rall Z 130 / 80-17 Rally Adventure Rear Tube Tyre and same 90/90-21 for the front of my Himalayan 450. Being 17" options were somewhat limited. But I have to get off these factory tyres, which are OK in the dry/wet tar, but deadly in anything resembling wet grass or mud. I Normally would run 606 rear & MT21 front on my dual sport/Enduros. Cheers from downunder. 👋

Great comparison video Kyle! Love the Motoz line and I have run the GPS tires on my Gen 2 KLR and am getting amazing mileage out of them with only 1.5 mm of wear on the front and 5.2 mm of wear on the rear after 13,600 km (8500 miles). I will be getting the Adventure rear and Dual Venture front next time for the mix of riding I do. I once heard a thing about that whole On Road/Off Road rating as a percentage of where we ride the bike. For example "I ride 80% of the time on pavement so I should get a 80/20 rated tire." I believe it was from a tire rep in a KZbin video who said "the two numbers more accurately describe how well the tire performs compared to a 100% street tire and a 100% dirt tire". By that definition, a 80/20 tire would perform 80% as well as a full street tire on the road and 20% as well as a full dirt tire off the road. That rating seems to make more sense because now you can think about how much performance you are willing to give up in each of the two categories.
@manybikes20 күн бұрын
Thank you for your feedback. Yeah... every manufacturer uses the percentages differently too. Oh well... I want 100% traction on the street and on the dirt!!! Thanks for watching!

Honestly though you've had me curious about these tires for a while now and once I wear out my Shinko 705s I'll probably give them a try. I love the ride of the 705 but they are showing signs of dry rot already with a lot of checking.

I like how you whispered "Sk*nko". Before buying Motoz (Tractionator Adventure rear and Rally front), I was the falling-est rider among my friends. It was so bad that I'd have my legs sticking out through every little mud patch, while they cruised through. It was bruising to my confidence overall. My tires through all that? Shinko 804/805s. Eventually I started really looking at those tires, with their non-existent lateral grip, and researching other options. Eventually I settled on Motoz. More expensive, yes, but the mileage alone was a convincing consideration. My bruised body a close second. Bought' em, installed 'em... And holy swizzle sticks, what a difference. I started calling them my Mojos, because that's what they brought back. Absolutely no complaints, and would definitely buy again. The Rally is a little noisy on-road. But it's a motorcycle, duh
@manybikes20 күн бұрын
Fantastic review / feedback. The Shinko is a great straight line tire but the increased traction the Motoz provide is staggering. Of course as with many things you don't know what you don't know. A few more psi in the rear RallZ should quite it down a little bit. Happy to hear that you are having a good time on your Motoz tires.
@exothermal.sprocket20 күн бұрын
I think just as much as the lack of general understanding of how tires can affect one's overall enjoyment on a bike.......is the understanding of air pressures. This is not a set-it-and-forget-it concept. It can be and should be adjusted within a range to produce better outcomes.

Thank you again Kyle. You are starting to convince me to buck up for Motoz. The only thing you aren’t telling us is the sound level we have to live with on road with each of the different tires. When we spend most of our actually riding on road even though our goal is traction when we get to off road, how much noise are we willing to put up with. Thanks again.
@davedempster340516 күн бұрын
I'm curious about how much road noise is heard through ear plugs? On any ride more than 20 min I put in the plugs to guard against hearing damage. The road noise should be attenuated and this should include tire noise. Is your experience different?
@brianlekei892015 күн бұрын
@ don’t always have mine in but even with plugs in the road noise gets wearing. I have Trailmax Raids on my GS 1250 and they howl pretty good at 120 km/hr unbearable without ear plugs, don’t even think about a com system. I am willing to give up some Offroad traction for noise. The GPS should be fairly quiet just would like it to be part of the full review.
@manybikes15 күн бұрын
It really depends on the bike, the load, the tire and the tire pressure. Lower pressures make these loud on the highway. Fully loaded, pressures need to be increased or they are louder. They are louder than many out there, but offer benefits the others can't touch in longevity and traction. The GPS, ADV and Rallz are decent.... the Desert HT is the LOUDEST tire i have ever run. (read prop airplane flying next to your helmet all day long...)

The Idaho BDR is a blast! The Adventure rear and Dual Venture front would be a great combo.
@kellygoertzen84920 күн бұрын
You're gonna love Idaho BDR!!! It's my experience that the RallZ front is a much better tire than the DV for the hundreds of miles of gravel on that route. I've run on both, and the Rallz is VERY stable in all the types of gravel there. The Dual Venture front wants to hunt around a bit. If you're newer to gravel travel this may be nerve-racking. The Rallz front tracks much better on that route. Have fun, good luck, and take a friend with you if you can.

@manybikes15 күн бұрын
Yes sir! The 300L takes a much lighter softer tire. The heavy ADV tires in a 140, 150 or 170 have the mileage characteristicts that I am speaking of. 4500km from. a dirt bike tire is still pretty darn good.

Been putting through endurance rallies and races the ADV rear / Desert HT front on my 690 Aurora and that's an amazingly versatile combo. For adventuring on my 890's, the GPS cannot be beat. Doing a solid 15 000 miles on a set with meat to spare and they are surprisingly stable even in yet sandy condition, I wasn't expecting that. I have not seen any difference in traction between the ADV and RallZ though, so save your money and go for the ADV, they last way longer. If you really need more agressive tires, than go for the Desert HT, but they melt fast, 3000 miles is the best I could take out of them.

RallZ front is a great tyre. When new they squirm and track, but after 509kms they're great. Push hard on tar, keep it good on dirt. The key... Having the right air pressure is super important for the front to not scallop too fast (it will always do it, but it's less prone with the right pressure) Desert HT don't last too well on high powered bikes. The leading edges 'round off' really easy and the grip disappears soon after. On tar they're ok.

It will be a 9 000 miles ride (back and forth) which include 1200 miles of hard off road. My plan is to use the Tractionator GPS at the rear but I am not sure about the front with the GPS. I read somewhere that once you paired the Dunlop TrailMax Mission FRONT tire with the GPS rear...the challenge is to be confortable on the way up and the way down, which is mostly pavement and not suffer on the difficult dirt stretch. What do you think, any suggestion...? Thank you for your help.

Thank you for your kind words. The GPS in the rear and the Dual Venture up front has been a go-to for many Alaska travelers. Both tires have gone the distance on the GS and Pan America motorcycles. The Mission will be a smoother riding front tire, but will provide less gravel road / mud performance than the Dual Venture. Both will do it, you just need to choose which one will be best for you and your ride.

I went through a set of TKC80s, a set of Desert H/Ts, and a set of Tractionator Adventures on a DR-Z400S. The TKC80s lasted about 4000 miles. The Desert H/Ts lasted about 5000 miles, were much better in the dirt, and were comparable on the highway. The Adventures lasted about 6000 miles and were good on dirt or highway. I've been using RallZ on my Africa Twin. In 10,000 miles I burned through two fronts. I had to replace the rear tire when it picked up a utility knife blade in the carcass. The rear tire had about 5000 miles left on it, so fronts are getting about 5000 miles and rears about 15,000. The RallZ tires - front and rear - were great in the dirt. I was hoping to try a set of Desert H/Ts on the Africa Twin. I will be very disappointed if MotoZ is no longer producing the Desert H/T front. I don't think the Desert H/Ts got the attention they deserved. I will probably not be using the Dual Venture tire, as I will not be flipping a tire in the middle of a 3000 mile adventure ride.

Hey Kyle, I've asked you about this before. I realize you don't get a lot of rain in California, But I live in Holland were it rains on average 30-40 percent of the time, sometimes two weeks on endm especially in the fall like right now. Which means a lot of mud, but also a lot of wet tarmac. You haven't said something about the handling of the tires on wet tarmac in this video. Especially for guys like you and me who commute 90% of the riding time, this is very relevant. I'm always especially interested in cornering in the wet. I'm currently running the TKC 70 Rocks en 70 front, and they're doing great in the rain. I'm wondering if you could do a short tyre by tyre comparison how these Motoz handle in the rain, as I'm contemplating going Motoz for the next set. The howl is very interesting. I have run them on 7 different machines without the howl. Maybe my exhaust is louder than the tires? @@manybikes thanks for the response. Yes, it is the adventure on the front as well. It was fine for the first few thousand miles but over time, the centre lugs wore towards the rear leaving the fronts higher. I think this is what is causing the howl. Off Road the Motoz and the 2Track are very very similar. When it comes to mounting and dismounting... Motoz WINS! And... the rough road ride of the 2Track (from non-flexing sidewalls) I was not a fan of either. Ride the two back to back and you will see what I mean. Spend a day on one and a day on the other and the difference is really surprising. The 2Track is the least expensive best handing dirt tire for ADV for sure. But there are trade-offs.

Like a lot of people, I am confused by the naming convention that Motoz uses. Couple questions: when you say “Rally” do they write “Rallz?” Is it possible that the tire you call Rally is the Tractionator Adventure? Based on the stock photos on the Motoz site, I think that might be the case-I am seeing that alternating center sipe on the Adventure but not the Rallz. Any help is appreciated because I am more confused than before I watched. Thanks. PS. Bonus question: do they say “Mo-taws” or “Moto-zee.”
@manybikes20 күн бұрын
Thanks for your message. It is pronounced MoTaz Moto + Oz ... Motoz Now... the RallZ is pronounced Rally or Rallyz. When it comes to the tires, the RallZ has alternating or off-set lugs down the center that are the same size. The Adventure has three different sized blocks all in a row that repeat themselves. Did that help?

Unfortunately the Motoz are getting very expensive now , a fantastic tyre , I have used pretty much all of them ( except the dual venture ) I 100% agree with the sinko 805/804 - I had a serious crash using one of them around 4 years ago - hit a tree head first , had brain surgery. BUT I will get tyres theses days with MAXIMUM traction, actually the old Dunlop 606 is still a fantastic tyre that actually gets ok mileage , with M21 rally cross . I actually don’t mind the IRC the Honda 300 Rally comes with , “ a lot of riders take them off new and I buy them cheap as and put on my Rally “ and not talking myself but a lot of riders on lager Enduro / ADV bike’s cannot stay with me . I fit my own tyres mostly if I get time . Regards Paul from Australia.

I completely get that these Motoz tires are great for grip and longevity. But, I only ride my ADV bike (I have several bikes and only so much time in my work life) about 2,000 a year on that bike. Think of the %age not as a proportion of how much road or dirt you're riding, but how much the tyre is a compromise between full road grip and full dirt grip. The good old Rallz with it's "70/30" split is really the pefect compromise for a combination of moderate road riding and aggressive dirt. I've probably done 80% of my mileage on the road but it's that 20% of riding on dirt where I want 70% of my grip proportion. Have nearly worn my rear and won't bother trying another brand out. That's my typical scenario. On my 1250GS, I've run through many sets of ADV rear/DV front. RallZ rear/DV front. And the same rears with the RallZ fronts. Note; I change my own tires. If I'm riding highway for 1,000 miles to get to my BDR (think San Diego to Idaho and beyond...) and I don't expect much rain (mud) I run the GPS rear/DV front. This combo allows for an 8,000 mile tour without tire change. And traction is excellent. If my tour includes sand and occasional mud, it's ADV rear/RallZ front (good for 4500 mile loop). If I'm doing an 8 day Baja tour it's RallZ front and back - NO QUESTION! ALL these tires perform perfectly on pavement. I've never had one "let go" in a corner and I ride them all to the edge of the tread. My tire choice is about as simple as this really, and after years of guiding I have yet to see a better tire, or a better value.

It doesn't work in Georgia clay, Florida swamp, Maine peat bogs, snow in Colorado or the forest of Oregon. They say "it has big lugs it should work"...don't try it, the lugs don't clean and the rubber is hard and does not grip wet rock in stream crossings. What sizes are you looking for? The range is pretty broad. This video was to answer the many questions I get daily re: the differences in the Motoz tires. I think it answers those questions pretty well... Sorry to disappoint. What bike(s) are you riding?
