We've been running this interesting tyre from Motoz for a little over a year now. Multiple sets through every season in all terrains and conditions.
As such we have a pretty solid idea of the Motoz Tractionator RallZ performance and longevity, WHERE it does and does not work well, and WHO it may be best suited.
Our Motoz Desert HT front and rear tyre video review:

hey, i wanted the 6006 so bad, riding a 500 ktm - the metz 360 that i ended up choosing are effin great in rock and mud (i love these tyres) but buzz saw so badly on road - obnoxious is the word, as we all know the road has to be used and especially here in England as my trails are +50 miles away - so you are really leaving 6006 for this rallZ? I honestly thought i would end up on 6006 this next time after the 360 expire but now you got me thinking

You will miss performance in mud and loose terrain with the m6006 but its a good option for less cost.

Hi, thanks for the great video. I put a set of front and rear Tube-Type Rallx on my 2020 KLX250 and have been regretting it, but only have about 35 miles on them. I'm glad you commented there wobbly when new. It's been very windy here in California's Central Coast, so haven't been doing any long rides, hoping the tires stabilize soon. I'm going to go ahead and install the Rear Rallx and Front Desert HT combo on my DR650. Thank you for the great videos. Romano

Desert on the rear, so far so good. Might have change to the rallz! Mate, your advice so far has been spot on! I changed the pilot back to stock for economy.👍 But the valving in the rear shock as you suggested has been a great mod. It’s so good! Keep on skiddin mate! Cheers

That's awesome Jim. I have found at my weight I could get away with the stock rear shock cranked all the way in on comp screw... but definitely liking the revalve for the extra rebound damping it creates and allowing me to stiffen the comp more when loaded to keep the bike balanced. I'm stoked to hear the advice is working for ya!

Just fitted a set of Rallz to my T7 today. 150/70 rear and 90/90 front. Done only maybe 50km on gravel, hard packed sand, mud and a strech of asfalt in the rain on the way home but so far so good. It's insane how well it handles it all. stock Pirelli STRs were great for fooling around on some twisties but thats about it. As I'm planning to tackle some TransEuroTrails soon I feel they will do great. And man I agree with the naming. They need to drop the whole tractionator thing, it sounds a little childish to me

I actually did a quick compare on the shinko 244 in this vid but it got cut in final edit. I find them a decent value option and can run them during dry season. But they really can't compare for more aggressive riding and the rear sure don't dig anything as well as the RallZ when it gets muddy

I’ve watched this review a few times. On my DR I replaced a Dunlop front/Mitas E07 rear with the Rallz front and rear combo. The increased rear stability was immediately quite noticeable- no slipping off the crown, good on wet clay - and really good on tar, wet and dry. Made it to the Cape, just, ( the rider was the problem!). I’ve gone conservative as I approach a big number birthday and have just upgraded a ‘23 Honda CB500X into a light ADV type bike. I am going to combine the Rallz rear with a Motoz Dual Venture front which seems to be an improvement over the earlier Rallz front - for me now just well graded and kind gravel ahead, no serious off-road, but I still want the trustworthiness and stability and I already know they are really trustworthy on tar. It was really great that you mention the durometer reading - the Rallz are softer than the Adventure and GPS and this is not mentioned by many people - this, plus the silica is possibly why they do ok on wet tar compared to the other two. This one issue I think let’s the other two down - you can’t avoid rain and I want trustworthy tyres when I hit it. (Sorry, that was almost as long as your review!) Thanks again. Cheers, Mike

CRF250 Rally. I mostly ride on the road (tar, though almost as much gravel, as I live on gravel) but I'm happy to corner a bit slower on tar if it means I get through mud and sand etc in the middle of nowhere. Swapped the stock tyres for D606 both ends as soon as winter came as IRC just didn't work offroad in the wet. Wore out the front in 5000 km and switched to MT21. It was ok new but awful understeer once worn a bit. MT21 fine so far but it's only been 3000 km. Rear D606 is up past 8000 km, worn to about 4 mm in the centre now but as we're heading into summer it might do a few thousand more yet! It sang lot at first ,but not now it's worn a bit. Happy with D606/MT21 *except* I can't corner like other bikes on less aggressive ADV tyres and I've started doing group rides with people on WR450 and KTM690 and BMW GS. The only time I feel a real lack of power is twisty tarseal when my apex speed is 20-30 km/h lower than them. Gravel, sand, dirt I'm up with everyone, and better than the GSs. Before finding this video my research already said RallZ might be the answer and have bought a pair (90/90-21 & 120/90-18) but not fitted them yet. The rear will be first depending on how long it takes to finally kill this D606. Or, hey, if it does 2000-3000 km more the MT21 might be dead at the same time.

This is one of the best tire reviews. You really did a great job with comparisons and terrains. On my 890 Adv-R I run the Rallz on the rear and the Dual Venture on the front, both tube type on narrower rims. Only 800 miles so far but I'm generally pleased with this combination. If I was willing to give up SOME on road capability/durability for SLIGHTLY MORE off-road performance (dirt/mud/sand), would you choose the Desert HT or the Enduro IT? Thanks for any comments.

I agree with your take on the Rallz as a rear, especially for the DR650. Maybe if I rode more pavement, I'd use something else. I can't speak for other "adventure" bikes. I do prefer the matching front as it seems to have more squared knobs as opposed to the desert H/T front's pyramid shape. The H/T rear is a howler!

Good review Skids - I have found the Ralz in a 140/80 works really well on the back of the Tenere. The T700 is a bit heavier than the Dr so I run them with a bit more psi (around 28-30). To be honest not a huge difference off road vs the Adventure but the Ralz seems to work better on road being a softer compound. Still chasing the best front tyre. Scorpion Rally great offroad but sketchy on road and wears fast. TKC80 better on tar but not as good on gravel roads.

What’s funny is I’ve always dropped psi considerably for my terrain which is mostly rocks in a coal mine. I drop to 10psi rear 12 front. I run titanium warp 9 locks and have no balance issues. Motoz is stiff enough that you’ll never get near the wheel on an impact with terrain. It’s why most in my area run either tubliss or mousses in their dirt bike set up. So the tire can wrap around what it’s rolling over. Obviously in dual sport fashion that’s far too low because a paved surface will heat the tire up too much and the tube would fail. I carry s gauge and a hand pump. Otherwise 22psi is my all around psi usually. Unless I’m spending the day in the bush. I have the tractionator to mount and the 90/100 front when that comes in the mail. Kind of wish I would have saw your opinion on the Rallz before I ordered the desert rear. We shall see how that goes. Haven’t run a Motoz since the mountain hybrid I had on a 250l. It was a great tire but had no lateral traction on hillsides. Love your stuff, as always
@SKIDSnSTUFF
@SKIDSnSTUFF 2 жыл бұрын
Since you can get away with running pressures that low, you may not notice the dirt problems I speak about with the Desert because the tyre will have more give at that pressure it won't highlight this issue. Also lateral traction will be OK at that pressure I would think... obviously not enduro bike OK but for the purpose. Where as at my pressure I believe lateral traction is better on the Rallz

Hey Skids, great review, I have the Adventure on rear and RallZ on the front of my DR650. I like them so far, usually only riding pretty tame dual tracks out the back of Dwelly and Waroona, done about a 1000K now. Hoping to get 10,000 K from them, average ride is around 180 to 200K of Bitumen getting to the gravel and back then around 200 of gravel road and tame dual track. I liked the MT21 front and D606 rear combo that I used to run, however the 3600K life was a bit low for me. I have run the RallZ front and rear on my R1200GS, performance was great but didn't get the mileage I needed so went back to the Heidenaus K60 though I do a lot more bitumen on the GS than on the DR. Spot on about the block gaps being a lot different on the wider larger bike tyre sizes 150/80/17, I wasn't even thinking about the Adventure as the photos of the wider tyre didn't look aggressive at all, it wasn't until I was looking at the actual tyres in the shop that I noticed the 130's looked a lot more aggressive. I was wondering how the Heidenaus would go as the 130's don't have the continuous centre band, have you any idea how the Heidy's would go on a DR?
@DaveNZ3339
@DaveNZ3339 2 жыл бұрын
I am also running the MT21 and D606 combo, which I have been really happy with. I have to agree the D606 is one stiff MF, as airing down doesn't do much! I came from the Heidenau K60 f/r. Similar to the Motoz, the tread pattern for the smaller K60 tyre is more agressive than for the bigger bikes (as in not a continuous centre band like you said). The 130 K60 still isn't as aggressive as the D606 or Rallz, but that's not really its job. Some photos here photos.app.goo.gl/zWxQc8PspETs3mHM9

I havnt run the Heidenaus personally but they do look like a great option for the more road/back roads oriented looking to stretch out a long tyre life, especially without that centre strip, that's the really killer when it comes to stopping power on pea gravel

@badoldbiker368 2 жыл бұрын
@@SKIDSnSTUFF Yeah the GS is real squirrelly on pea gravel, you get used to it on the gravel roads and dual track but sometimes you really have to let the tyre dig in and bite on the edges because of the centre band. @@DaveNZ3339 Yeah, the Heidy K60 Scout looks good with no centre band. Looking at picking up the Rallz's for my CRF450RL, and I like the combo you picked for Rallz in the rear and the Desert HT for the front. Did you get a chance to test the Rallz front? I live in Ft.Worth Texas so the nearest BDR is 500 miles out (x2 for the round trip), so I'm a little worried about long highway stretches and tire wear. Not a huge deal because that's just the way things are. Besides, there are closer trails..

Nah hasn't tried the Rallz front, not interested in it. Here is my 50 word Hiedanau K60 review: I have no confidance it them at all. No good in the wet, loose gravel, mud, soft sand or under breaking. Front tyre excels in being specially bad. They use very hard rubber compound so are slow wearing ( only positive I found so far ) I think K60 will suit bigger adventure bikes for long distance touring. Haha nice review, sounds like it's time to give them the flick. If I could only choose one reason the Desert is better than the Mt21 front it would be the larger profile, and that alone would be reason enough. The DR LOVES the 90/100 profile when the going gets tough

I run the Desert HT 140/80 almost exclusively on the T7 running a 2.5" rim, and your review of the Desert rear is spot on. To add to your excellent commentary, the Desert has an inherent problem with the way it wears. There is more rubber on the shoulder of the tire than in the middle, so it will square off too quickly. When new it is awesome in the dirt, but once the centre wears flatter at around 2-3000kms (on the T7) it will get squirrely and downright dangerous, so I change mine pretty regularly. I have even tried removing some knobs from the shoulders of the tire, which was great in the sand (almost a paddle tire) and improved the wear pattern but the tire never really settled mid corner on gravel or bitumen with the missing knobs (no surprise there). I found the front Desert is particularly bad on the T7, and gets very squirmy under a bike that weighs around 200kgs. I run the Shinko 216MX Fatty and that is truly awesome on the T7. I would consider getting the RallZ for the rear, and perhaps open up the tread pattern a little with my tire groover if it was required. Thanks for the post.

Good call, that will be the profile issue I was alluding to... that profile is too sand-centric to make for a good all rounder. That Shinko 216 fatty (and Goldentyre 216) make for a decent option for the more dirt oriented for sure. I like the Motoz Desert (90/10-21) over them for the more stable on road manners and carcass, wont throw knobs, can still corner on the tarmac without that excess knobby flex and yet still has all the traction i need when the going gets tough.

How do you delete the DRL (daytime runners) where I live, mine came with them and I want the ability to turn them on or off.

Do you think the rallz tire is suitable for the 300cc dual sports like the CRF and klx? Or too heavy? Indeed Tobe able to ride on the highway for an hour each way at 100kmh

Yeh if doing plenty of hwy kms I can wholly recommend. I haven't seen the RallZ in person at that size though so take it with grain of salt

i have run them on my vstrom 1000 in the 150/70r17 size and found them quite good. not as much straight line drive or cornering traction as the desert h/t rear in that size, but the sliding on gravel roads is predictable, allowing you to enjoy drifting through corners in the triple digits. The desert h/t has more grip for that, but can feel a bit snappy when it lets go. The desert h/t performs noticeably better in loose stuff like deep gravel, sand or mud, but the rallz is still good in those conditions. Onroad the rallz is actually a noisier tyre at highway speed than the desert h/t (in the 150/70r17 size) as above 110kmh i find the noise starts to die down on the desert h/t where the rallz just keeps getting louder. If yo like to pretend you're racing the Dakar both these tyres will last about 3000km on a big bike, but if you are gentle on it I have heard of people getting up to 10,000km from the rallz. On wet bitumen a big bike will spin either of them if you grab a handful of throttle at 100kmh, but i have found that with every offroad tyre i have run on my bike, dry bitumen grip is much more than you expect from such aggressive tyres. Unfortunately I haven't been able to try a desert h/t front tyre yet as they havent been available any time i have bought tyres. The rallz front works well on the big bike, but isnt as predictable as the rear in loose conditions, which can get interesting hitting sandy patches in tracks at 120kmh as the front wheel suddenly gets a mind of its own. I like your tyre reviews as its quite interesting seeing how different the same tyres can be just by changing the size of them. I also run similar pressure to you and have no problems, which shows just how stiff the big bike sizes are as its perfectly fine at that pressure with a 230kg bike and a 125kg rider.

Predictable and consistent is the word that matters when it comes to tyres hey, and why I love the Rallz over the Desert (and in dry conditions, the M6006 over all). That sensation you mention about the Desert letting go is from the same profile issue I talked about in this vid I reckon... it wants to be run at lower pressures, which isn't ideal on an adventure bike, especially a big one. Sounds like any rear tyre with a dirt pattern is gonna light up under you and the big girl Garth!

@SKIDSnSTUFF
@SKIDSnSTUFF 10 ай бұрын
D606 is good in soft terrain and while new. Everywhere else the Rallz shits on the D606. Ive never liked Dunlops dirt tyres, every one ive tried has gone to hell after they lose their initial edge... due to motocross pedigree is my guess, designed to have good bite for one moto or meet, then trash.
