Using Logic professionally since 2000. I never knew how to scrub embedded tempo data! NICE!

Chris- Your videos are simply amazing - I have been a DAW user since Cubase 3 back in 1997, was on Pro Tools for years, and now Logic since version 8.... I try to watch 1 or 2 of your vids every single day as a new subscriber, and ALWAYS pick up something new - deleting the embedded tempo information in an audio file?? WHO WOULD'VE THOUGHT! Great job, and keep up the good work!

Midi Environment is certainly a means for mapping an external fader to your host tempo if you would like to. Great tips. Thank you.

Hi Chris I’ve followed your channel since October last year when I bought pro logic. Thanks for making these great videos, I’ve learnt so much about logic from them. Thanks again Cheers Gary From the U.K.

Timely (no pun intended)! This video explains why I was pulling my hair out with a mixed set of MIDI and audio tracks when trying to adjust the tempo. Logic really needs to be able to handle audio file tempo better.

Great video as always. Well, to avoid any frustration just create your tempo map while working with only MIDI / Virtual instruments. Then determine the final tempo map before you start recording any audio.

Very good expnaition of the tempo fader - is it possible, that this does not work anymore with Logic prox 10.8? I had trying to work with the tempo fader one crash after the other.

I'd like to have logic "learn" the tempo of an existing piece of audio as the outro of a song slows down, it's almost in free time, but I need to make a click track for it. Smart tempo won't accomplish this for me. Any ideas?

Chris, another super helpful video! I watch pretty much everything you come out with. It would be great if you could address some of the weird things that happen when we work in 6/8. I sometimes have troubles setting the metronome the way I want it, or dragging and dropping in beats from a percussion VST (I have Addictive Drums 2). Things just don't seem to play as nicely as they do in our comfortable 4/4. Keep this great stuff coming! You showed me screens I have never seen before in Logic Pro.

Great work this, so helpful. But, I could not get it to record the tempo like you did. When I was recording, it adjusted the tempo as I moved the slider, but would not save the adjustments in the tempo track. Any thoughts?

This is fascinating and a whole new area of Logic for me. But I found this tutorial while looking for its opposite, I think. I’ve got a nice varying-tempo acoustic guitar performance and want, about halfway through, to impose a grid so I can add midi instruments etc without ‘correcting’ the guitar performance. Is there a way to make a tempo map (if that’s the term) from only a section of an audio track without changing the tempo of what comes before and after? Thanks again for the great content!

Great video. I didn't know there was a tempo fader hiden in the midi environment. I'll soon try it as sometimes I've the feeling that changing tempo in real time can improve the expressivity (I usualy compose orchestral pieces and, as a conductor can impulse slight changes in the whole orchestra, having such fader will be a great help)

Can you automate changes to varispeed, both speed and pitch? It seems like a good way to get a classic LP slowdown effect. Thanks for your tutorials!

Thanks for all the great Logic resources you make. Any chance you could do a beginner’s guide to MIDI recording of an external synth. That would be really helpful. I find it’s easy with some synths and inexplicably impossible with others. Thanks again.

Really useful tips! Thank you very much! Do you ever have the problem of Logic crashing when you record in the tempo changes. This is something I've been hoping to be able to do for a long time. Logic crashes unfortunately every time I try your suggested technique. BTW, Command 0 opens Midi Environment (seems to have been removed from the dropdown list in a recent update)

You should make a video about beat mapping in logic pro. It is a very confusing feature that I need to for music for videos but I do not undersand it very well.

How do I change the tempo of just one single track while leaving the rest of the production’s tempo unaffected? No matter what I do- even following your directions- the entire production tempo changes. Urrrrrrgh!!!!!! Help!!

I have had the same issue. I exported my accoustic guitar track then started a new project with tempo set to adapt, imported my aiff guitar file then I analyzed the tempo using smart tempo and it worked better than anything else. Have to re-record all ur other bits and pieces if there was any as the project will only follow that one main track. Everything else you record or add follows that tempo 👍🏼😎

@@aw3752 No probs hope it helps/works it was the only way I could figure out how to salvage my original guitar parts. I'm not a guitar player by choice and my first crack at my own stuff was always the best ones played for some reason. Assuming it was my initial excitement/energy captured which is beyond hard to replicate unless you're Jimmy Page maybe 👍🏼😂
