Can you do a video explaining what role tenors play in the music? I play in a pipe band and our tenors all play one drum tuned to the notes on the bag pipes. They also twirl their sticks a lot. Im Canadian and we don’t have the same marching band culture, so these huh pitched tenors playing crazy fast runs all over the place are a bit alien.

Drum 4: D very slightly flat Drum 3: F# very slightly flat Drum 2: G# very slightly flat Drum 1: C very slightly flat Low Spock: E half sharp High Spock: Bb slightly flat If these notes were not “slightly flat” and the E half sharp was just an E, you would have a saucy D9(b5,b13) which resolves quite nicely to G minor Also it should be noted that these were calculated through my phone speakers with my keyboard and I do not have perfect pitch. The people in the replies have found different pitches

You can record each drum and plot the spectrum in Audacity which will show you the pitches. Not many people have perfect pitch, but everyone has machine pitch! #fastfouriertransform

Awesome review! I have watched all your reviews. Mapex makes first class products as all the manufactures do. I personally prefer the sound of the Yamaha's the best. Not criticizing your playing; you're actually tenor-god himself, but the tuning sequence overall is too low for those drums. Drum 4 especially isn't taking a good liking to being tuned that low. The California cut shells are just short enough that a tuning sequence this low doesn't resonate well. From working with Mapex lines for several years, my recommendation for drums with this depth and diameter: Drum 4: F# Drum 3: A Drum 2: B Drum 1: D Low Spock: F# High Spock: A#-D (preferably D, but to preserve head lifespan, an A# is the lowest I'd go) I also personally DESPISE pinstripes. I can truthfully say I've used and heard almost every marching head and I'd either use Remo emperor clears, or evans system blue tenor heads. As bad a wrap that system blue gets for everything, their marching heads are some of the overall best
