Today I found some frozen pumpkin puree in the freezer that some friends had given us. The weather is so much cooker today so that means I have to make something that goes with fall!

when I make scones, I put my butter in the freezer and grate it on the box grater. This way the butter gets distributed evenly & quickly and it is easier on my arthritic hands. I used to do it just like you do, but I had to find an easier way to work the butter in. Everybody does what works for them. Your pumpkin scones look delicious & I may just have to bake some this week. I bet your kitchen smelled heavenly when they were baking. Sometimes, after I brush the tops with cream, I sprinkle the top of my scones with Demera (raw) sugar so they have a sweet crunch & it adds a little sparkle to them. So happy for you that your hay season has finally ended. I just rewatched your video for Pierre casserole because I am making it for dinner tonight (YUMMMM). I noticed that with the tons of kitchen gadgets you have, I don't think I have ever seen you use the tool I use the most - a silcone spatula. I love spatulas because they can mix/fold ingredients and then let you get every drop of food out of your mixing bowl.

Looks delicious!! This is one thing that helps me not to run out of anything. My husbands precious Grandmother Frances lived more than 15 minutes from a grocery store. She taught me to always have an extra of whatever you use so you will never run out of anything. So when you get the spare jar or box of whatever out of the cabinet you write it on your list. This method works like a charm and I will be married 28 years in a few months and continue this method today. For example if my ketchup bottle runs out in the refrigerator I get my spare out of my cabinet and I put ketchup on my grocery list. Love you guys!!

It's hard for me to believe I'm southern. I don't like pumpkin, apples, sweet tea or coffee. So bad to be a southern woman and not like those. Leslie, we had to get a metal file box for index cards with dividers in it for my home economics class when I was in high school. I am not a huge pumpkin fan but I would eat those. I agree with Caroline about the sweet potato pie (my favorite).

Dear Leslie! Please know that your videos never disappoint. I love the day in the life of you and your family. The scones looked so good even though I still can’t have them. I love those kitchen scarves. I should order a couple to have during Thanksgiving week and Christmas. Can you tell me who I can order from? Please forgive me if you have already given us that information. Somehow I missed it. John and I and the kids got back from our week in Colorado on the 11th of this month. We stayed in Colorado Springs in a beautiful home that we rented from a Christian couple. The owner works at Focus on the Family. It was so enjoyable meeting him and talking with him. We got to take a tour of Focus on the Family on a Thursday. Our youngest daughter, Rachel has a friend who works at Focus and offered to take us on a tour. It is an amazing place. They have a play center in the basement of the facility that is set up like Whits Inn. The families can bring their children to play there for free. What a joy and blessing! There were several families there with their children while we were there. They also have a big Christian bookstore there. It was amazing and fabulous! We bought a few things there. The first day we were there we went to the Royal Gorge and rode the gondola. Jeremy and Rachel rode the zip line. John, Lindsay, Zach and I walked across the suspension bridge. They have flags of every state all along the bridge. We took pictures in front of the Iowa flag. The next day we went to Pike’s Peak and rode the train to the very top. It was a gorgeous ride which took an hour and a half to get to the top and another hour and a half to get back down. We sat by two ladies who were sisters. Come to find out they were actually from our neck of the woods in Southern Illinois. They had gone to the same university that my husband graduated from. It truly is a small world. We went to a couple of other mountains and to Manitou Springs. It was a great vacation. We all had a wonderful time. It was a great blessing that all 4 of our kids could go. It is unusual that our oldest son who is a medical resident at OSF in Peoria could get the time off. He had asked way ahead of time and the Lord answered our prayer that he would be able to go. Last week I cleaned our house and had out of town company to arrive Friday afternoon. They stayed with us and left early Monday morning. This week I have been taking it a little more easy. I have been working on a card for a dear friend. I am a crafter and have my very own craft room. I make intricate and detailed cards and gift boxes for people. It is a ministry the Lord has given me along with singing and teaching. If you have time and would like to see my cards you can go to my Facebook page and see some of the beautiful cards I have made. Leslie You were right when you called the syrup sugar because that’s what it is. Water sugar and flavoring. Would never use that. Real maple syrup is the only way to go. The scones look really good. Saved the recipe and will make for weekend. Thank you.

Scones that my English Great grandmother made were just a little sweeter and always butter. Her breakfast bread (biscuits) had no flavorings and made with lard and was for gravy, biscuits were usually shortbread cookies. When I went to England back in the 80s it was funny when an English friend tried to understand the difference. So we went to her grandma and she made scones and I made biscuits. It was so much fun.

Was excited to see what you were going to do with your "kershaw". I know people pronounce things different but I think what you have is cushaw squash. My parents raised these for years. They are kinda hard to find because people use them for decoration. Cushaws have green and white stripes with kinda long neck on it. We fix like apples just cook it and add sugar and butter if desired. To me they taste a little like sweet potatoes. I've got the neighbors liking them too so they raised them this year. I think you ought to get you one and fix it they cook up so you wouldn't get as much as you think you would. One thing I have to tell you is they are hard to peel but worth it.
