Greetings. Yeah I can relate with a lot of this: not having NX, not being able to meet ppl from the game in person, being too slow to lvl up because I'm lazy to grind and each new class was interesting to try but getting it to lvl 30 demanded commitment. Worst part was like nobody played the game in my country, or at least no one played in windia xD (I'm from Chile) PD: I downloaded the game thanks to an add on newgrounds back in 2006.

As a player that play preBB to modern, community aspect can never come back to its former glory. We all grown up, responsibility and shit. The game knew that and thats why it shifted toward solo content, soloable bosses, do shit on your own time(old culvert is ass to schedule). Man even modern boss schedule is ass for like a 15min run.

What I remember is that you didn’t always have to grind for exp, for me I use to hunt gear, I would spend hours in the clock ghost area in Ludi hunting Ester Shields or hunt death nepnesomething in Orbis for honey to get my Bone helm, but the reason Big Bang kind of ruined MapleStory was because of the damage formulas changed and things like Magic Attack and Intelligent were equal but now Magic Attack is more important, and then the potential system when Legendary unlocked and items that where level 71 or higher and made all overalls useless killing gear uniqueness, I still remembering before BB my Dark had the owl eyes, a pink cape, Yellow snow shoes, bath overall mostly for speed, sky skis, Brown work gloves, chaos zak helm, oh and a red surf board of dragon fury, all useless artifacts now

Personally as someone that played preBB as a kid, current MS is way way better. While the game is definitely more solo oriented for leveling, after early game at ~235 every boss will require you party with a group to clear them. The community is still there imo but it's within guilds and discord. For the ones I've been in, they're in discord vc almost daily.

haha I've been saiying this for a long ass time.. i tried private servers in the past from easier 3x rate and up exp & hardcore 1x.. not the same.. tried mapleworlds recently but then my 5 y/o niece walked in my room, tells me ''why you playing this boring game?'' I was like you right and alt + f4 the game immediately XD no matter how many years down the line, mmorpg don't work no more these days now how the world works. Back then maplestory was pretty much a 1:1 reflection of actual life. Learned how to hustle, grind, interact as we were gddamn kids. These nerds can't handle that today. golden memories forever that cannot be replicated
