kpop y has so many different groups and acts doing so many different things (from rap to pop to rock n roll), it's almost like it's an INDUSTRY within itself, and therefore already has massive companies that can promote kpop (regardless of if the artist's nationality and/or ethnicity is korean or not) acts globally ON THEIR OWN its almost like 88rising was not created for primarily kpop because kpop already can do what 88r does ON ITS OWN BECAUSE IT IS AN INDUSTRY 😭. as a kpop fan, can 88rising go back to its roots, not saying 88rising cant do kpop, but it really shouldnt be tryna focus on kpop listeners

There's a reason for it. Kpop like artists are more popular in Asia and sadly that's where the money is to be made for Asian artists, in Asia. Asian Americans do not support their own unless they get approval to do so by non Asians because they are too afraid to get clowned on by the non Asians.

It's not visual and romance emotions instead of a higher order similar to what JCole is to HipHop and rapping today. Higher brothers made real bars and gave Chinese a sense of pride in their work in 88 then they all went to chase a different fan base that has nothing to do with their ethos and vision.

Although it is an 88rising collab album, I wouldn't be quick to use it to defend the label since it rarely includes its own label members. Correct me if I'm wrong, but it only includes Rich Brian, Warren Hue, (not counting Dumbfoundead since he's only on the interlude), Milli, and I believe one more who wasn't part of the original label. Masiwei probably doesn't count anymore since he releases under his own label AFGK. While I do like the album, it is not an 88Rising album like HITC1 and HITC2.

And you're totally right it's not like HITC, but I'm fine with that, I think it being different was a cool change of pace. The main reason I bring up this album isn't to compare it directly to HITC type projects, but more just to bring attention to the fact that 88Rising still releases interesting stuff that isn't just "hopping on the K-Pop bandwagon" like the sentiment in a lot of the comments section as well as being mentioned in the video. such a well made video. i often couldn't put into words the way the label changed at the 'risk' of sounding like a lame ass gatekeeper or 'it was cooler when it was smaller' kinda dork, but this was super well written and edited!

I like the tier list. as someone who heard of 88^ but didn't even know what it was, this was helpful. The American Asian community & hiphop community is still culturally ways away. Even for Latinos, representation/making waves in hiphop is just passble, above mid at best. cool video tho.

Higher Brothers had a beef with Sean, and when they left you could say the group was dying already.
@bangsuha_4 ай бұрын
what beef bro give me a quick summary.
@jeundelcarmen39334 ай бұрын
@@bangsuha_ There was one instance where Psy.P (one of the higher brothers) comments (on Instagram) implied that his solo albums weren't released globally because of 88rising. Interestingly, Bohan Phoenix also states that the label owes him money. The other beef might refer to an instance where some of the higher brothers' posted Chinese nationalism/flag on their socials and the label may have not liked that - albeit others (Jackson Wang) expressed Chinese nationalism too. I'm not educated on the matter, but that action was definitely controversial and perhaps not favored by the Asian-American label. And while I am a fan of the HBs, I can understand why that move has made them less profitable in the Western market- specifically the rap genre.

I always looked at Atarasshi Gakko not within the realm of 88Rising but rather just J-Pop idol groups as a whole. I always kinda viewed them as the only group besides Babymetal that actually try to innovate and set themselves apart from other groups in an otherwise boring industry. Like it's no wonder Japanese girls try moving to Korea to be in a K-pop group instead, but AG has managed to stay true to their ideals despite their viral success wearing off in recent years.
