However, I would be glad to elucidate the disparity between Nestorian teachings and the orthodox doctrines. Nestorian teaching claim that there are two natures in Christ: a divine and a human thus emphasizing distinction between divine and human aspects of the incarnation (the act of God becoming flesh). Nestorian Christology promotes the concept of a loose union of two natures (divine and human) in Jesus Christ, thus trying to avoid or replace the concept of the union of Christ’s humanity and divinity in one nature. Nestorius teaches Jesus is not one with the Son of God but personally united with the Son of God. Nestorian teaching rejects the title "Theotokos" The Mother of God for the Virgin Mary, thus emphasizing distinction between divine and human aspects of the incarnation. Such teachings brought Nestorius into conflict with other prominent church leaders, most notably St. Cyril of Alexandria, who issued 12 anathemas against Nestorius in 430. Nestorius and his teachings were eventually condemned as heretical at the Council of Ephesus in 431 presided by St. Cyril of Alexandria. In the 12 anathemas, St. Cyril of Alexandria described the nature of Jesus Christ as the “One Nature of God the Incarnate Word." He continues further explaining the nature of Jesus Christ, “The flesh is flesh and not Godhead, even though it became the flesh of God; and similarly the Word is God and not flesh even if He made the flesh His very own in the economy. Given that we understand this, we do no harm to that harmony into union when we say that it took place out of two natures. After the union has occurred, however, we do not divide the natures from one another, nor do we sever the one and indivisible into two Sons, but we say that there is one Son, and as the holy fathers have stated: One incarnate nature of the Word.” end quote. The Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahido Church, which I belong to, along with our sister Oriental churches of Coptic (Egyptian), Armenian, Syrian and Indian believe in “One Nature of God the Incarnate Logos." We say as a result of the unity of both natures, the Divine and the human inside the Virgin's womb, one nature was formed out of both: "The One Nature of God the Incarnate Logos" as St. Cyril called it. One Christ was born and we call the Virgin Mary "Theotokos" The Mother of God. The expression "One Nature" does not indicate the Divine nature alone nor the human nature alone, but it indicates the unity of both natures into One Nature which is "The Nature of the Incarnate Logos". By "one Nature", we mean a real union. This does not involve mingling as of wheat and barely, nor confusion as of wine and water or milk and tea. No change occurred in the Divine or Human nature as a result of their unity. Furthermore, unity between the two natures occurred without transmutation. Thus, neither did the Divine nature transmute to the human nature, nor did the human nature, transmute to the Divine nature. The Divine nature did not mix with the human nature nor mingle with it, but it was a unity that led to Oneness of Nature. Likewise, the nature of the Incarnate Logos is One Nature, having all the Divine characteristics and all the human as well. To further explain one nature I refer to St. Augustine of Hippo's and St. Cyril's example: The nature of the soul unites with the physical earthly nature of the body to form a union of one nature, which is the human nature. This united nature does not include the body alone nor the soul alone but both together are combined without mixing, confusion, alteration or transmutation. No transmutation occurs of the soul into the body nor of the body into the soul, yet both become one in essence and in nature, so we say that this is one nature and one person. Hence, if we accept the idea of the unity between the soul and the body in one nature, we shall accept the unity of the Divine and the human into one Nature. Although man is formed of these two natures, we never say that He is two, but one person. All man's acts are attributed to this one nature and not to the soul alone or to the body alone. Thus when we want to say that a certain individual ate, or became hungry, or slept, or felt pain, we do not say that it is his body which ate, or became hungry, or got tired or slept or felt pain. All man's acts are attributed to him as a whole and not only to his body. Similarly, all the acts of Christ were attributed to Him as a whole and not to His Divine nature alone (independently) or to His human nature alone. For the unity of the Divine and human natures of Christ, it is an inseparable union as the Divine nature never departed the human nature for one single moment nor for a twinkle of an eye. If someone says the Divine nature is different from the human nature, how then do they unite? The reply is that the nature of the soul is fundamentally different from the nature of the body, yet it is united with it in one nature, which is the human nature. After the union in the Virgin’s womb, we do not separate Jesus Christ into two natures even though the two natures exist as One nature in Christ without mixing --- for that reason ✝We call the virgin Mary Theotokos, the mother of God. Although she was created by God the Son, she became the mother of God because God the Son united His nature with the flesh in Her womb to become as St. Cyril described “One Nature of God the Incarnate Word." ✝We call the Son Who was born of the Virgin 'Emmanuel' which means God with us. ✝The Magi worshiped the Son born of the Virgin Mary who is “One Nature of God the Incarnate Word." Worship is due only to God. The Magi worshiped Jesus who was in the embrace of His mother. ✝The Cross of our Redeemer is the cleansing of our sins, and our redemption from death. We ascribe these things to the One Nature of God the Incarnate Word = Jesus Christ. And for that reason Isaiah is right when he said, “Not a messenger, and not an angel, but the Lord Himself hath redeemed us”. Only God redeems and cleanses and we see Jesus Christ in a flesh "One Nature of God the Incarnate Word" is God. ✝God said, “This is My beloved Son”, God the father did not divide Jesus Christ, He could have said the flesh is the Son of Mary and the Divine is My Son. But God the Father said of Jesus Christ "My beloved Son", indicating that Jesus Who was Baptized by the hand of St. John the Baptist is One Nature of God the Incarnate Word - United in One Person, both Son of Mary and Son of God. ✝St. Paul said, "Great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifested in the flesh”. God is a spirit can not be manifested in flesh however only Jesus Christ was manifested in the flesh hence, Jesus manifested in One Nature of God the Incarnate Logos is God. ✝Jesus Christ said, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you have no life in you.” No human flesh or blood gives life, only God gives life and we know God does not have flesh or blood God is spirit. However, the Son born of St. Mary is the One Nature of God the Incarnate Logos. He (Jesus Christ) has flesh and blood which He took from the Virgin Mary for us to eat and drink and He also has the life giving property of the Divine God because He is the Son of God. Jesus Christ “One Nature of God the Incarnate Word" was crucified and we are saved through His flesh and blood. ✝The Eastern Orthodox churches, including the Greek and Russian churches, share an identical Christology with the Oriental Orthodox churches. They assert that the differences in terminologies used to describe Christ's nature stem from cultural variations rather than a divergence in faith. They acknowledge the concept of two natures united in Christ, which aligns with our own beliefs. However, they introduce a division following the union and retreat when confronted with St. Cyril's formula of the One Nature of God, the Incarnate Logos. It is important to note that St. Cyril of Alexandria is recognized as a saint in both the Oriental and Eastern Orthodox Churches. In the following discussion, I will outline the reasons why both my Greek Orthodox brother, @Philopater Daoud, and I have some reservations or concerns regarding Bishop Mar Mari, as we perceive certain borderline Nestorian tendencies. Nonetheless, I want to emphasize that I hold utmost respect, love, and admiration for Bishop Mar Mari, who exhibits great courage. Very few of our bishops have demonstrated such bravery or been compelled by their love for Christ and His flock to speak out against the rulers of this world.

My reply to your question comes from total respect, humbleness and from the love of Christ Our Lord. When explaining Matthew 24:36 “But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.” Please watch and listen carefully between 25:30 - 26:47, Mark of The Beast (Revelation 13) at kzbin.info/www/bejne/raPJXpiom7GqetU a sermon by Bishop Mar Mari, and in it he divided the natures of Jesus Christ into two after union implying two Sons contradicting St. Cyril’s teaching of one Son, and the holy Fathers teaching of one incarnate nature of the Word. Bishop Mar Mari sated “Divinity joined with humanity, we call this unity Christ, It is not God and It is not Jesus, so who is Christ? Christ is the person in whom divinity and humanity are united. Divinity and humanity are united in the person of Christ. So Christ is perfect man Jesus and perfect God the son of God who is the Logos who is the Brain and the wisdom of God, the wisdom of God is God himself so Christ is perfect God, perfect man, this perfect man does not know the end of the world, God the Father or God hid it from the son of man Jesus, the human side to Christ, God hid it.” End quote. The sentence Christ is not God and Christ is not Jesus plus the sentence Christ is perfect man, this perfect man does not know the end of the world, God the Father or God hid it from the son of man Jesus -- are both Nestorian teaching. To explain Matthew 24:36, Bishop Mar Mari divided Jesus Christ into two natures and two Sons after the union. Let us see how the blessed saintly fathers interpreted Matthew 24:36 and let us compare them with Bishop Mar Mari’s. 1. St. John Chrysostom explains Matthew 24:36 in his Homilies of the gospel according to St. Matthew:-- By saying, not the angels, He stopped their mouths, that they should not seek to learn what these angels know not; and by saying, “neither the Son,” forbids them not only to learn, but even to inquire. And the Son knows the Father clearly, even as clearly as He knows the Son; and of the day is the Son ignorant? Moreover, “the Spirit indeed searches even the deep things of God,” and does not the Spirit know so much as the time of the judgment? But how He ought to judge He knows, and of the secrets of each He has a full perception; and what is far more common than that, of this could He be ignorant? And how, if “all things were made by Him, and without Him was not even one thing made,” was He ignorant of the day of judgement? For He who made the worlds, it is quite plain that He made the times also; and if the times, even the day of judgement. How then is He ignorant of that which He made? He tells them not the day of judgement, in order that they may watch, that they may be always ready; therefore He says, When you look not for it, then He will come, desiring that they should be anxiously waiting, and continually in virtuous action. His meaning is also like this: if men knew when they were to die, they would surely slack and only strive earnestly at that hour (the last hour). In order therefore that they may strive, not at the last hour only, He tells them not either the hour of judgement, or the hour of the day of their death, desiring them to be ever looking for this, that they may be always striving. Therefore He made the end of each man’s life also uncertain. 2. St. Jerome explains Matthew 24:36 in his Homilies of the gospel according to St. Matthew:--- Since Jesus, that is, the Word of God, made all time, for “all things were made through him, and without him nothing was made,” but the day of judgment is included among all time, by what consistency can he be ignorant of a part of which he knows the whole? This too should be said: What is greater? knowledge of the Father or of the judgment? If he knows the greater, how is he ignorant of the lesser? We read that it is written: “All things that are the Father’s have been given to me.” If all things of the Father are the Son’s, by what account has he reserved for himself the knowledge of a single day and been unwilling to communicate it with his Son? But the following should be added as well. If he is ignorant of the last day of time, he is ignorant also of the penultimate day, and of all the days in back of it. For it is impossible that one who is ignorant of the first would know which is the second. Therefore, since we have proven that the Son is not ignorant of the day of consummation, the reason needs to be given for why he is said not to know. The apostle writes of the Savior: “In whom are all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge hidden.” Therefore, all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge are in Christ, but they are hidden. Why hidden? After the Resurrection, when asked by the apostles about the day, he answered openly: “It is not yours to know the times and moments that the Father has set by his authority.” When he says: “It is not yours to know,” he shows that he himself knows, but it is not expedient for the apostles to know. Thus, since they are always uncertain about the coming of the Judge, they will live every day in such a way as though they will be judged on another day. Finally, even the following words of the Gospel compel this interpretation, when he says that the Father alone knows. In the Father he has comprehended also the Son; for to speak of a father is always to name a son. 3. St. Basil the Great explains Matthew 24:36 in Letter VIII - To the Caesareans. A defense of his withdrawal, and concerning the faith: ---- It is on your account that He knows not the hour and the Day of Judgment. Yet nothing is beyond the knowledge of the real Wisdom, for “all things were made by Him;” and even among men no one is ignorant of what he has made. But this is His dispensation because of your own infirmity, that sinners be not plunged into despair by the narrow limits of the appointed period, no opportunity for repentance being left them; and that, on the other hand, those who are waging a long war with the forces of the enemy may not desert their post on account of the protracted time. For both of these classes He arranges by means of His assumed ignorance; for the former cutting the time short for their glorious struggle’s sake; for the latter providing an opportunity for repentance because of their sins. In the gospels He numbered Himself among the ignorant, on account, as I have said, of the infirmity of the greater part of mankind. 4. St. Hilary of Poitiers explains Matthew 24:36 in De trin. 9.58-75:----- St. Hilary presents a series of scriptural texts to show that the Son was not ignorant of the day in actuality, but feigned ignorance for the disciples’ sake so that they would continue to hope in perseverance, and because his seeming ignorance was part of the “divine plan” to be revealed. 5. St. Ambros explains Matthew 24:36 in his Exposition of the Christian Faith, Book V. Chapter XVIII:----- We have been taught therefore that the Son of God is not ignorant of the future. If they confess this, I too-that I may now answer why He declared that neither angels, nor the Son, but only the Father knows-call to mind His love for His disciples also in this passage, and His grace, which by its very frequency ought to have been known to all. For the Lord, filled with deep love for His disciples, when they asked from Him what He thought unprofitable for them to know, prefers to seem ignorant of what He knows, rather than to refuse an answer. He loves rather to provide what is useful for us, than to show His own power. You see, the pillars of Orthodoxy, our Saintly fathers didn't distinguish the natures after the union, they all denied the teaching that "Christ the perfect man does not know the end of the world and that God the Father or God hid it from Him". They all confess a united nature of Jesus Christ, One Nature of God the Incarnate Word. And the reason Jesus said He does not know the day is to make us all vigilant, be ready at all time and to encourage the disciples and us all live each day as though we will be judged the next day.

This man is the real deal. I live in the north east USA in a small town near Gettysburg PA and I would love to go to Australia to visit his church! Shame on the people trying to quiet him. In fact I'm investigating Orthodox Christianity. I am currently involved in a non denominational church and my church is dead compared to the way this man teaches. I read that "the doctrine of Nestorius, patriarch of Constantinople, by which Christ is asserted to have had distinct human and divine persons." I follow and I'm a servant of Christ ONLY, no churches or synagogues or theologies. "I and my Father are one. (John 10:30)" not two, even the trinity is ONE GOD, ONE LOVE. It's heresy to see priests with opulent garments and chairs and "gold" crowns on their heads and called "father". That crown belongs ONLY to Christ and my father is the Heavenly Father. You and Rabbi Schneider reminded me of how much Jesus loved me and how much he hated what had been done to me by someone that claimed to be a shepherd.
