We Bosnians were considered heretics by both the Catholics and the Eastern Orthodox church when we were Christians. Pope Gregory IX even called for a Crusade against Bosnians while we had our own church. We always had our way of interpreting religion and our way will always be considered heretical by someone. All we want is to be left alone to live our lives we have lived for hundreds of years. We are not asking for nobody's approval. In the end only God will judge us all.

Then you conclude on how uneasy it makes you feel that children have to wake up for prayer to pray to their creator or a man telling you that you have nothing to fear if you’re not a criminal.Why does that bother you? Even though some of what he says is off at times, what he said there isn't wrong. Wives do obey their husbands, we do wake up early for fajr, and we do cut off the hands of those found guilty of thievery. It's just the *way* he said it that came off as cringe
@RL-lh5yb4 жыл бұрын
@@j0nni235 I agree, but other than Saudi Arabia, who else cuts off hands? Did Jan bother to mention the various and several trials before this judgment? Like if the state was first able to provide so that the person did not have to resort to stealing. As you go along his journey of Islam... You see his narrative and motive.. it's not as 1% as he mentions. No man in any society will marry a woman that's in conflict within the relationship. There is a correlation between that and divorce rates (among other similar factors). Also the wife doesn't have to obey anything that she does not agree. It's not like the husbands don't listen to their wives either. And in natural instinct in a relationship, in a situation when shit hits the fan, who does everyone in the family in the US or Saudi look up to? As you said the cringy way he says it, makes it sound like they have no rights. Simply because she has a hijab or dresses modestely... Automatically all her rights disappear and women in Islam are in need of "rescuing" from "oppression". Sure Muslims are woken up for fajr, so are Jews at their religious camps. And so do Christians around 6 at their Bible camps. Thats the point of these camps. But otherwise, children before puberty are not required to be woken up or pray.

The summary of his visit to Hungary was quite unjust...several of the things said are societal/cultural and shared between Christian - Muslim communities, depending on the place...e.g. 1) in pretty much patriarchal Greece, men-women relationships are uneven and used to be very uneven (women obey their husbands)...2) he's in summer "madrasa" yet he's astonished that kids are woken up to observe prayers...my father grew up with a priest-uncle and religious-practising family in rural Greece and even spent time in a female monastery; he would be required to wake up and help in liturgies, prayers etc some of which started very early and continued throughout the night...when he would get sick he was left to sleep in front of the "altar" in cold stone-floor, 3) Unless Jan has examples of Hungarian muslims who stole having their hands chopped off, it doesn't make much sense to state as dogma something that wasn't even said like that (that's it's OK to cut a thief's hand), the mufti only spoke of the deterrence effect of law that is very seldom practiced.

This video is great! But I need to clarify something. In the beginning of the video, you said that in Bosnia worshipping a rock is "normal." Actually, I attended that Ajvatovica myself, and that event is more of a fun, commercial fair - not half as religious. And Bosnians do NOT worship that stone, by all means! We know what shirk is. There is only one creator to worship. Literally, it is common sense to us that the place is a historical tourist site, good for hiking lol. Not an area of worship. Also, I appreciate the answers given by the Hungarian Muslim girls, but I think that they were not prepared to answer the interviewer's questions fully. In Islam, a Muslim man can only marry a Christian or Jewish practicing woman but it is absolutely NOT recommended at all. It is simply allowed. A woman can not marry a man that is not Muslim because it is easier for a non-muslim man to convert to Islam than a non-Muslim woman, especially taking the old times into consideration. Imagine a Christian woman wanting to marry a Muslim guy in a time where women had no rights in Europe, and not being able to except with conversion? She'll be in more trouble and danger than a man that converts to Islam because men used to have more power and rights. Additionally, when a Muslim girl wants to marry a non-muslim guy, she can always ask him to convert to Islam, and this will make him a better husband for her. (Converting to Islam is not difficult. And this generally happens lol -- a man converting to Islam to marry a Muslim woman. It's a good way to spread the religion too.) Also, remember that a righteous, good, kind spouse can be a person's ticket to paradise. And also, in studying the dynamics of relationships, fathers usually have a greater impact on children than people tend to assume. Finally, in Islam, we believe that God is merciful and all-knowing. He knows more about us than we know about ourselves. Sometimes, something might seem unfair at first and then a person later realizes in life why they should not have committed a certain sin. God knows best. Sending good wishes.

Ajvaz-dedo was a Sufi dervish who arrived in Akhisar (known today as Prusac, Bosnia and Herzegovina) with the conquering Ottoman armies in 1463.[1] The story of the rock dividing dates back to the legend of Ajvaz-dedo, an elderly man who prayed for water during a long period of drought that threatened the small mountain hamlet of Prusac in 1510, during Ottoman rule.[citation needed] However, Ajvaz Dede found a powerful spring of water near the village on the mountain Šuljaga.[2] The spring had been shut off by a rock 74 meters long and 30 meters wide, which obstructed the construction of a running water system. Ajvaz-dedo spent 40 days beseeching Allah to split the rock.[3] On the fortieth morning, following his prayers, Ajvaz Dede dreamt that two white rams collided and split the rock. When he awoke, he saw the rock split in half. Wooden pipes were placed along the newly formed canyon to take water into Prusac. Seeing it as a sign of God's miracle and blessing, people began going on pilgrimages to the place where the rock had split.

U have got it wrong brother,they are not worshiping the rocks,no muslims around world never worship any house, rock,idols or human also any sort of animal which is also created by almighty.People also misunderstood about "kaba" the holy palace of Islam in mecca.they dont even worship that house covered with black clothes,they only worship one God almighty. What i have understand here as a muslim it is maybe some spiritual place for them,the daie(missionary) of islam shows nd given such kind of spritual symbol around the world.They are gathered that place and offered prayer to almighty not to rocks!
@mohammedafrouzahmed77794 жыл бұрын
Yes you are right we muslims don't worship any rock but the culture or tradition which goes against the teachings of Islam is not acceptable. There is no pilgrimage site other than Mecca and Medina but they are calling it as a small hajj or umrah. We muslims believe that if we want something we ask directly to Allah,instead of going to Auliya graves.or anywhere else. If we face any problem we go to masjid and pray.

Islam in this part of the world has deviated from the path. Since when do we worship rocks. As a Muslim you have the right to question the so called Grand mufti if you feel he is wrong. I honestly think the journalist is not true in what he is giving to his audience. One more thing the small pilgrimage is Umrah and the big Hajj. There is no other pilgrimage. This is all based on their own traditions and has no Islamic connotations. This is adding on to religion.

If they are performing such acts of worship the have deviated from the path and are putting their faith in Jeaoprady You donnot have to be at a place where a miracle is performed for dua to be accepted. this particular one seems to be a folk tale of the area. We worship Allah alone. Muhammad may peace be upon him is but a servant and messenger of Allah and cannot be worshipped. Another mixing tradition and culture with your faith us the root course of the problem. Very interesting fact in our country, Bosnia and H., a very prominent scholar Mehmed Handzic, who was educated in AlAzhar, and was active between the two WWars, fought extensively and fiercely against places and customs such as the one from the beginning of the story. It is very difficult to explain and to understand, and even less to comply with such actions from our official Islamic community. The less people live Islam, the more prone they are to such things like these. Everyone has agreed they are remnants of pagan beliefs.

So they enjoy our Ramadan as holiday, If you took it from that perspective you find that everyone resting from the life and change his habits, Muslim gets togethers with family on Iftar , Christians have fun on beach . Now, if the Bosnian Imam meant a figurative/cultural pilgrimage, then there's no issue, but the documentary didn't make that clear. The presenter on the one hand seems pleased “that people should decide for themselves how they want to practice their faith” yet he appears to be attracted to the idea of a grand mufti for Europe defining for all how Islam should be practiced in Europe. You can’t have it both ways. Also, if you’re really okay with the idea “that people should decide for themselves how they want to practice their faith” then that should apply equally to all interpretations of Islam. You can't approve of the “hippy” one but frown upon the Saudi one. Looks like Szultan was right to say “we are always very cautious because Islam is often portrayed very negatively. In a very hostile way. In general we don’t trust journalists at all. Because 99% of them we know from experience they have bad intentions.” and the pesenter was false in saying “Well I assure you that we belong to the remaining one percent” Szultan consistent in his doubt said “I hope so. We will see” Szultan was vindicated when the presenter unfairly summarised the Islam of Szultan’s group as “women must obey their husbands. Children are woken up in the middle of the night to pray. And chopping off hands is OK but only thieves must fear that punishment”

If one can't afford to do Hajj they just do other fundamental like salah ,fasting,zakah. Allah has made Islam easy it's some Muslims that innovate traditions to make their religion burdensome.

11:17..the former mufti is wise unfortunately i think his miss the mark and not giving a more nuance statement...he says immigrant muslims must be grateful for europeans giving them jobs and europe is peaceful and no war. First of all the European nations have destroyed those countries and left them in hands of rebels and dictators or people who still obey european masters..thats why the people have to flee.the way his saying it like the europeans are the selfess givers lol meanwhile they are the ones who created the immigration situation. no muslim should have any hatred to carry out anything that will hurt other people and should always aim for peace but at sametime we cannot ask them to fall to the feet thanking europe for giving them a job and place to stay.

It's heartbreaking that beautiful and warmhearted Fatima, Szaida and many other females in Hungary get discriminated against and insulted by people on the streets in Budapest. I pray for the day we as human beings will just live in love and harmony regardless of race, religion and background. With love from Nairobi, Kenya on 21 Mar 2021.

Believe me you get more insults on being obese, or extraordinary beautiful, redhead or big nosed than for hijab. She is just too young yet to handle the insults you may get for being just slightly different from average. It will pass. We Christian’s are raised to talk back if things like that happen from some uneducated men, she is a very nice and modest girls who is still vulnerable for taking a stance.

Sorry but in the part related to hungarian muslim camp you were unjust and mean. It's a camp and kids learn their religion and culture, and really for mostly trying to enjoy being with people like them and relax, who are you to judge if they have to wake up early for that 5 days camp, it's not like those kids now they have to do it from now on, they're just kids and they have their families that really care for them and they know they're just kids, and when they grow up it's up to them to wake up for prayer or not. You protrude it like a military camp for preparing fighters or whatever is in your mind, but those are just normal people, and because they're a bit deferent, and because of the image you tried to draw of them you may made their life harder. You can't just go to a minority, witch already suffer from racism and present them in a negative way. Asking big questions witch they may never counter in their life and judge them for it. They trusted you and showed their faces and their kids in a spontaneous way, but you insist on asking like a prosecutor, they are not a grand mofti, they're just normal people. They expected that from you as a professional journalist. The way you judge them is what infuriate fear in them, and lead them to not trust anyone who want to know them. And make others also fear them and may be even hate them. And then that let to isolation in what was a one society.
