Hello friends! Join me for a nice little thrift haul where I discuss all the things I've bought over the past few months and KIND of answer the question: how do I find vintage in my size? I do plan to have a dedicated video on all the ways I search for vintage, but for now I hope this video suffices!
What was your favorite thing I found? What are some of your own thrifting or online-secondhand-searching tips?
See you next time!

I am a larger dress size than you, and I'm a young woman with an interest in vintage fashion that's survived many many years of heartache over sizes. I love that we can adapt our patterns we find to our bodies, or find items that are workable while still making us happy. Plus size women have always existed! You're an inspiration for me as I try to decorate my first home and dress vintage and sustainably myself. Thank you for being you

If you are worried about kids or cats knocking things off your mantel get some museum putty. You put a little ball under your glassware and push it down and it sticks the glassware to your surface. It’s reusable and removable and adds some extra security. It comes it handy sooooo often.

My Grandmothers wedding dress (married during the 50's) was actually her sister's graduation dress sized down and tailored to fit her. I think people overlook how often vintage dresses and other clothes would have been altered or sized down to fit other family members or friends. The great depression and war rationing were still recent memories and the disposable income to just buy extra clothes wasn't as common for average people yet. I think generally people also wore their clothing out and when they could no longer repair it, it was probably turned into something else or turned into rags for cleaning. As the old saying goes "Use it up, wear it out, make it due or do without."

How rude of anyone to say that to you! Plus its not true. My mother was large and she never had any trouble during the 30s, 40s and 50s. It became harder to find them in the 60s because of the "Twiggy" movement. You are beautiful and perfect like you are.

I LOVE seeing all your dresses - the infinite variety of color, patterns and trims is fascinating! Thanks for all your content - so interesting and fun! You are really beautiful and your dark hair, fair skin and hazel eyes are nicely complimented by the 50’s aesthetic. Watching your videos make me remember why I like 40’s and 50’s vintage - things from that era are often colorful, whimsical and feminine.

The lady doilies look like dressing table sets, there might have been a third bigger one that matched at one point. My Grandmother used to to embroider them. I am a vintage age woman and let me assure doubters that there was very many plus size women back then.

You reminded me, yes, a third, bigger one, and it's what my mom called a cheval set. I don't know how horses got into it! And that period they had freestanding long mirrors which swung on a stand, called a cheval mirror. I wonder if there's a connection

I’m so glad you brought up the fact that thrifting has changed. I’ve been thrifting vintage since high school (25 years ago) and there’s just nothing either worth buying, or the true vintage is too expensive. Estate sales and EBay are still okay, but I’ve started sewing more to fill in the clothing gaps.

Thanks for sharing! I was reselling for a few years and it was fun. It was competitive as a reseller trying to be discreet in stores but now that I want to shop vintage just for myself it irritates me that thrifting in general has become so competitive overall and mostly because Goodwill and similar take all the good stuff and funnel it to their websites. So when you find really good stuff get it and run!

The lamps are beautiful! Personally, I would leave the plain white shades on because I think adding green to them will distract from the beauty of the lamp bases, which are really extraordinary. I totally have the very same coffee mug! Love it!!❤

Kristina, I love videos like this, and I love your style. My whole house has been thrifted. When people come inside, they absolutely love it. The reason, my house is not a cookie cutter style. We raised three children in a 1350 square foot house. Yes, it was very crowded, but my children have wonderful memories. It was a house filled with love. I baked with my children, and we did crafts together. Since it was an older home, I let them decorate the walls with collages they created by cutting their favorite things out of magazines. Enjoy your children and have fun being you. Time goes by so fast. Have a wonderful week.

I wonder if I love vintage so much because it was my grandmother’s era and deep down I aspire to be more like her. She was very small when married, but all the time I knew her she was more to love. 😂 I only had one small grandma. Great grandma were all plus size.

The cute rope earrings are called "door knocker" earrings. And every 1950's department store also sold "circle" pins. Love vintage jewelry but warning if you do too: stay off of ebay lol. And if you decide to sell some of your vintage clothing, please let us know first :) 'cuz I'm buying.

When an unneeded zipper won't stay up, simply zip it closed and then run a few stitches at the top of the teeth. It will prevent the tab from sliding down over the zipper teeth. The second pattern with the three tops looks to be a maternity top pattern. Maternity "smocks" were worn during pregnancy, unlike the tight fitting maternity clothes worn today. I think the change of style began in the 1990's-not sure. It was so much fun to select a pattern and fabric to sew my very first maternity smock back in the early 1980's!! :)

❤ty❤ I love the style! I love when you share your sewing too because I try and sew my own clothes too. . You are an inspiration for me there. . My favorites are your cleaning videos because it's encouraging and I was using those older Era routines and found them so helpful. . But the best of all is finding out you are neurodiverse and a writer. Me too! Me too! . Your channel is like a place of bliss for me and I also love hearing how the methods you use are helping with some of your struggles as a neurodiverse person because then I can kind of ask myself if that might benefit me too. . PS: I love that you are focused on being a mom. That is such an important thing. And your littles are so lucky to get to have that. .

Hey Kristina - if you haven't painted the shades already - find beautiful LACE TRIM to glue under the top edge of the lampshade. If you want to paint, use a cream to match the cream stripes in the glass and use a dark green LACE TRIM for the top edge. Get a finial in brass that picks up the metal pattern. Perfect and frugal - win, win!

Awesome score on the lamps! I once thrifted a large mid century lamp for $35 NZ dls (about 20 US dollars). Sadly it broke due to a dresser collapsing (shoddy chipboard furniture!) We glued it back and started looking for something similar online, but they are hundreds of dollars from antique resellers - not gonna happen. I know at some point the thrifting gods shall bless me again. 😊

@@WithLoveKristina I bought similar lamps and paid a FORTUNE for the pair. The glass was either made of stained, art, or "slag" glass. Not sure. And inside the bottom half was another socket for a small light bulb so that it could be used as a night light or mood lighting. I wonder if yours do also? Great score.

Totally agree with what you said about vintage clothes in smaller sizes and younger styles. I think it still holds true for modern clothes in thrift stores too, at least in my area. There are a lot of small young styles and fast fashion. The good quality grown woman sized clothes tend to be for older women who have likely passed away and their families have donated their clothes. I struggle to find quality adult clothes because women wear them for many years and they are too worn to donate in the end.

That swirl dress that wraps and opens in the back...be careful. My cousin wore a wrap-in-the-back skirt to work on a windy day. As she walked through a bustling outdoor plaza at lunchtime she battled the wind and held the back flap closed...or so she thought... but was actually holding it open. She had no clean underpants that morning so the only garment under the skirt was nude pantyhose. When someone alerted her to the problem, she returned to her office building along the plaza and spent the afternoon crying in her office.
