Same. I have 5 close friends and I'm happy with them. I spent Christmas day with one and Boxing day with another. From 27th December until 5th January I didn't see anyone. I left the house once to go shopping for a couple of hours and that was all. I spent New Year alone, in my PJs, with my cats and it was lovely. I watched a couple of films, toasted 2024 and went to bed at 12.30. I'm only ever bored when I'm in the wrong company and I'm never lonely. It's good to know I'm not that weird. Well maybe just a little weird 😂

I admire how you are able to take care of your children and your and your husband and your house and do KZbin. Wow Im tired just typing all that. You look very good in your pretty vintage dresses. To the lady who is shy about wearing 1940s fashion. I wear 40s vintage a lot and I get so many compliments from strangers it's unreal! To clarify, Im in my 50s and not a beauty so people aren't complimenting my looks, just my style. I've had men and women stop me in the street to tall me I look terrific. Old gentlemen raise their hats to me. One told me I reminded him of his mum, which I found very sweet. If I may add to Kristina's excellent advice a good way to start may be to add touches of vintage to your existing look by a 40s hairdo...there are lots of tutorials on you tube. Or wear a turban with a roll of hair in front...and red lipstick of course. Then get a pair of 50s style jeans from Freddie's of Pinewood (not cheap but flattering and Ive had mine for a good 10 years. In the summer you can wear a pretty vintage frock. Go for it, it's fun and you really get treated like a lady.

I was diagnosed with autism in my mid 60s. It was eye opening and i felt such relief having answers. Back when i was a kid autism was just being recognized and studied and it was believed only boys were autistic. As a result, girls were not diagnosed and underserved until decades later. I read something recently that said if you believe you're autistic, you probably are as who would want that diagnosis. So being diagnosed didnt do anything for me as far as life skills but it did give me answers which made me feel so much better. I love your channel and how real and honest you are. Block the creeps!

When I was in my 30's, my friends and I started to discuss how we avoid mending and sewing and we decided to form a sewing circle. I'm VERY introverted and so I just sat in the circle, doing my mending and watching others work and 'grooving on the vibe'. My then 14yo daughter attended with me. I didn't know all the people, and I didn't want my introversion to control my daughter's experience. So, I suggested she walked around the circle and that she might like to kick off conversation by asking what each person was doing. She's a very likeable person and before I knew it, she'd been taken under the wings of a few participants and she was given a sewing project by them. When we decided to pack up, the 'hostess' brought out canapes and margaritas and non-alcoholic drinks. SO good! Cut to MANY years later. My daughter had moved to Sydney, Australia, made friends with other 'wonderful weirdos' and THEY began their own sewing circle. They meet once a year, as did mine, they save up their mending and sewing and they follow my sewing circle's style, including canapes and margaritas. That's how my daughter started to learn to sew. She and her friends all wear pre-loved clothes, upcycle home decor and furniture, and recycle to the nth degree (as do I). I'm so happy to see it.

I was diagnosed autistic and ADHD in early October this year. Discovering this at 38 years old has helped me so much. It feels so good to have answers that explain the struggles I have had throughout my life, and there is an amazing online community of audhders out there. I have started making small adjustments in my life and can already feel a difference in my anxiety and energy levels - I was WAY deep in sensory overload prior to being diagnosed. If you decide to go through with the assessment process and find yourself being diagnosed autistic as well, I hope it brings you some peace and helps you continue to make adjustments that help your live your best life. ❤
@Catsface99 Жыл бұрын
You must be very mildly on the spectrum if it wasn't discovered until you were 38 years old. I have a cousin who was pretty high on the spectrum diagnosed when she was 18 mo. She is was enrolled in a special school for children on the spectrum from about the age of 2. She will be 30 in December and you can't tell she lives a normal life with a job, her own place, and she does things with her friends on the weekend.
@melissaskinner2199 Жыл бұрын
It went undiagnosed for so long because I am a high masker. This is the preferred language over mild autism because the struggles are still very much there despite the ability to mask. The struggles are internalized to a very high degree (much more common in female-presenting and marginalized groups due to the way society is structured). I was putting in so much internal effort to come across as neurotypical that no one but me knew I was struggling so much for most of my life. Heck, I didn't even realize it at times. I always felt different but also thought everyone was struggling similarly to some degree, which was not the case. I didn't realize that others were going about their lives unphased by constant sensory input and with an understanding of social cues and expectations that I never had. It took a prolonged case of, what I didn't know at the time, was autistic burnout to lead me down the path of a diagnosis. I am now learning to not repress my stims as much as possible and unmask in other ways, but a lifetime of masking is hard to break. Every autistic person presents differently, and all presentations are valid. Necessary accommodations will vary per person, but all autistic people benefit from accommodations in a society that was not made for the way our brains work.

@@Catsface99she has been taught well how to blend in with NT society, is what you may mean when you say you can’t tell, as no one can tell just by looking whether or not someone else is struggling or not with being able to fit in with the requirements (?) of the culture one lives in. Requirements has (?) after it since that is not the best word, but it has a good enough meaning, it’s not the best way to describe the situation as the rules of society are just agreements that most people have unconsciously made, and that don’t really need to be followed.

Talking about ADHD on your channel is a great thing. It helps me understand myself better because I was diagnosed with ADHD in my late 30s and one thing that I will do before being diagnosed and still do, is jump from one place in my house to another while cleaning and then instead of organizing it looks more unorganized 😭 . I have 2 autistic children, so I always thought I was the only one with an unorganized home just because of other channels.... but you brought reality to life. Watching other channels when their houses looked cleaned and organized made me so depressed. But you just have the most simple home yet it's a very beautiful place😊

As a fellow introvert, I feel you. I too stay home most days, and find most social contact physically taxing rather than beneficial. However, having a teenager, I push myself to get out. I do it for her sake, as she is extroverted. This means I'm out of my comfort zone regularly. I can stomach minute doses of social interaction with people I'm familiar with and appreciate. As I get older (I'm 50 now), I observe my social circle tightening up, and my forays out into the world increasingly richer, as I'm able to say "no" to experiences that I don't appreciate. Being able to discern which experiences will enrich my life experience, and having the ability to say "no" has immeasurably improved my mentality and quality of life. Life is about discovering who you are, and your content is a beautiful journey to self. Thank you for being who you are, and for sharing your life with us. 💚 P.S. > If you use a clothesline to dry your clothes. There are no fabric beads that can come close to the lovely smell that sunlight imparts. You will need: Two 7”-10” clothesline pulley-wheels; clothesline double the length of the pole-space being used (70 ft for a 35 ft distance); Six, or more S-shaped clothesline spacers; clothesline tightener; small table; stepstool; a basket to hold clothespins and spacers. All items can be found at the local hardware/DIY store. Set Up: First, install a 4”x4” pole near the back porch banister for one end of the clothesline pulley system, and the other end can be attached to either another installed pole, the gable of an outbuilding, or a tree. Next, on the porch place a small table, a step stool and a basket next to the porch banister. (I lashed a pretty wicker bicycle basket to the banister; it wasn't going anywhere regardless of wind.) Here's how it works: Place laundry basket on the table. Once on the stepstool, you can remain stationary with your laundry within easy reach. Start by pulling the line tight through the line tightener. Then begin with a spacer, push the clothesline along as you hang clothes, place a spacer every fourth garment. Remove the laundry by reversing this process. This greatly reduces the amount of effort, and you will be far less tired. If you have the advantage of a covered porch, you can remain cool in hot weather and dry when it begins to rain and you have to be quick about bringing the clothes in. With the laundry basket right there, it is quick indeed. No further need to exhaust yourself lugging heavy baskets of damp clothes out into back of the backyard. No more calisthenics of bending down to ground-level to grab a garment, then stretching high above your head to hang the garment. No more constant need to move the laundry basket. No further need to find a pole to prop-up the clothesline, only to return home and to find sheets in the mud or dragging in the dirt because the pole fell. Let the clothesline do all the work and tray table do all the 'heavy lifting.' For my set-up the pulley and line were 9 ft off the ground. The porch was 4 ft above the ground. At 65 inches tall, the step stool placed me within easy reach of the line. This will work for those in a wheelchair. An additional purchase of a clothesline lifter can be bought from the Amish online website is necessary.

I’m the same with my makeup; I’ve been doing the same basic thing since probably 2006/07 (very 1940s/50s inspired), but I love adding in little bits of whatever is trendy and that I find flattering! I had to take a long break from eyeliner earlier this year due to allergy, and I felt so naked! 😂 Also on the cleaning content: I really like watching it! My housekeeping style is a bit different, but just seeing someone else tackling a real-not aesthetic and super modern house-really comforts me. We live in very old, crumbly housing, and social media sometimes gives me a bit of a warped perspective on how everyone else lives (and sometimes, I’m sad to say, starts making me feel badly about the space I do have). You beautify your space, and it really makes me inspired and motivated with mine!

Also, I would definitely be interested in a video on your mending, even just a "mend with me" if that's a video you're interested in making. ❤

Honey you are a breath of fresh air for me! I don't feel so alone in my house not being picture perfect. I find the ones that are that way are boring. I like real life not picture perfect all the time. Keep doing what you are comfortable doing and tell the naysayers to shove it! Lol

Thank you for speaking open about yourself 😊 I struggled with with tidying too, what helped me was finding out how my mind wanted to keep my stuff and clutterbug on youtube helped me a lot. There i've learned that not everyone can tidy up the same, maybe you'll find out what type you are and just maybe it can help you like it helped me (i'm a bee and if you look into it you now what it means 😉) Thank you again and keep up with your positive thinking 😊

Even in a sea of positive comments, a few negative comments can really stick out and cause you to feel so vulnerable, its not the critic that counts. Many people who troll will never have the nerve to post their personal lives. You are a lovely person to watch, down to earth, relatable, and creative. I love a good tidy video for inspiration and it isn't inspiring to watch a person "clean" an immaculate house.

🍓OMG, got all the way to the end to see your baby is knawing on your phone and it has the same cover as mine!!!! Oh I'm a neighbor of yours (sorta) I'm in Oregon. I am also part of the Edwardian society and would love to have you join us (children too) at our Boat Regatta in the summer. We build our own sailboats and then have a picnic at a park in Portland that has a rather large pond.

Big fan over here! This is so random but I can’t stop thinking about that selkie-lookalike dress you made from a floral bedsheet. Do you think you’ll ever sell that?
