Been keeping a close eye on this man for the past two years. Very inspiring. I am nearly 50, retired military, and a few years ago I started running to get back in shape and develop more discipline in my life. I happened upon the breaking2 video and I was awestruck by his humble fortitude. It made me want to run a marathon, and ever since then, I have made running a way of life. No other athlete has ever inspired me like this man to improve upon my self and to think beyond the pain. Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race that God has set before us. Hebrews 12:1

It’s unclear if Kipchoge intended that as a trick given that Mosinet (as well as Wasihun) was tailing his draft until the last couple miles, so as soon as Kipchoge veered for fuel, Mosinet lost that tiny advantage making it easier to put even more distance between them.

Stayed up all night to watch his last Breaking 2 attempt. What struck me the most was the look on his face which could best be described as Zen like. Having completed one "weekend warrior" full marathon, of course it obviously makes me extremely curious as to how anyone could be running a 4:35 minute per mile marathon pace in that mental state. This is a man who has tapped into some deeper truth about life, I do believe. So excited for his fall Breaking 2 second attempt.

@@donmindsofficial Eliud comes from the track. He has run a 4:06/mile pace for 5,000 meters (his PR is 12:46). His marathon WR pace is 4:38/mile. That's a differential of 32 seconds per mile (or 8 seconds per 400 meters), which is enormous. So even his WR marathon pace was relatively comfortable for him. The problem was simply maintaining it for 42 kilometers. Track athletes like Eliud are under-appreciated, because most people have no idea what they're seeing when they watch a world-class track meet. It's not until the athletes turn their talents to a mass-participation event like the marathon that the lay person understands how truly exceptional these people are.

But i think should be off at 600m to go. Shud let us hear all the cheering applause..very well deserve and to be memorable moment for tiring runners. Off topic..not sure how is the crowd..is it all busy taking videos..coz i saw most of them holding hp..only some clapping.

What athletes can learn from this guy is not train more than 80 percent and to save your 90 to 100 percent plus efforts for racing. That is why he looks so fresh.

Think you will find that is pretty standard practice - even amateurs usually dont give more than 90% in training

I ran 10k in 1hr 10min...this was my first marathon...but i can imagine how much effort required this legend to do sub 2hr..... it's looks easy but when you do it it's actually not that easy! He brok common mentality that sub 2hr isn't possible...he is beyou the limits set by people...so actually there is not limit, No human is limited...last line said by him- sir eliud kipchoge

I have become a fan of Eliud Kipchoge, but I find myself cheering for him two ways. I cheer for him to run fast, and I also cheer for him to be clean. It is cynicism born of disappointment, we remember the heartbreak of cheering for champions like Lance Armstrong and Ben Johnson and on and on. He is so great, please be real, please be clean.
