May I suggest you warn viewers not to risk activity so soon after diagnosis. After a grade 2 calf muscle tear, I suffered leg swelling with colour change but little pain. DVT was initially ruled out but 3 weeks later ultrasound confirms DVT in inner thigh veins. Only gentle walking permitted. I am on heparin now for several months. This is a serious condition, it takes time to recover.

Can we build muscle after the cure
@vegforce4518

I felt weakness in the tear area when training (cycling) initially but gradually ramped up to a point where even extreme high mountain with steep long multiple climbs was no problem. Running would certainly be more risky. The actual DVT wasn't an issue once training resumed. I regulate heparin dosing to next days expected training so that in case of an accident I'm in normal coagulation state

I have a extensive right leg blood clot 8 months ago. Surgeon has saved my right foot by doing a vein bypass on the right leg. Doctors are not able to establish the cause of the blood clot as I have no history of high cholesterol/diabetes or heart condition. They did investigation on possible blood disorder/cancer/APS/DVT/Thrombosis/Irregular heart beat etc but are not ablel to come up with anything conclusive. They have 2 possible theories.: 1)Right leg arterial wall overstreched possible due to my regular 50km + weekly running routine 2) irregular heart beat which sends blood clot from my heart down to my right leg and Cardiologist says there there are no test to back up this theory. According to my surgeon the blood clot is similar to blood clots on the skin which is made of fibrin and looks like black rubber sticking on my leg artery which runs from my tight to the heel. Surgeon says there are no medication to dissolve this type of blood or any surgery to remove it. I have read on internet nanokinase enzymes can dissolve up to 65% of fibrin blood clots but my haematologist says its too dangerous as it may trigger another blood clot. I am currently on 2 blood thinners Aspirin, Xaraleto and my next review is in 2 months time. Does your hospital has treated any patients with this type of blood clot similar to a cut on leg artery. The closest i could think of is car accident victims apart from runners.

I'm 16 and I had a massive blood clot in my left leg that was a result from blocking off an aneurysm in my thigh. I was having a ton of calf pain, at first it was cramping pain like a charley horse was about to start but didn't fully start. The pain got so much worse and I had throbbing pain just from standing. So I went to the children's hospital for an ultrasound and that's what found the dvt in my leg. The clot was huge, it started at the top of my thigh and the end of it was right below my knee. So I was admitted to the picu and a thrombectomy was scheduled for the next day. After I was admitted the pain got so much worse. I couldn't even fully sit up straight without throbbing pain, the pain got to feeling like a charley horse but 10 billion times worse

Shocking to hear of your problem at such a young age .. how did things work out? (I had a similar DVT, still on heparin a year later although it's almost gone now)

@@vegforce4518 Things worked out pretty good overall. When we found out about the dvt in my leg that was back in February and I was in the hospital for 5 days. After I was discharged I was limping a bit and standing for too long caused my leg to get really sore. But after a few days it got so much better. And since then it's been so much better. I was put on heparin through a midline after I had the thrombectomy then was put onto enoxaparin after a few days. I still take enoxapairn and should be stopping sometime soon

Can i run after recovered from DVT??
@robbieb2011

Long distanxe runners are at high risk DVT. Perfect storm. Running stresses veins in foot lower legs. When you stop running for a bit those valves in veins were stretched so much from running they allow blood to flow backwards. Also most runners have low heart rates which make it harder for bloodto get back up from lower legs if the valves in the veins are not closing properly

This sounds accurate. I probably need to get a ultra sound. My leg feel asleep over 18 months ago. I'm a daily mountain runner with large calfs. Took time off and leg fell asleep then the next day completely cramped. Fast forward still knots up the first 2 miles of a run and slightly stiff every mile. Possible DVT ?

@dirkadventures5133 im not a doctor. If you are concerned see a doctor. A dvt is usually very painful and you can sometimes see bruising. Csn happen without bruising but if you are concerned see a doctor

Hi I was diagnosed with DVT in Feb. 2015, I've experienced all the symptoms you had. I had reached to a point where I could'nt walk due to constant pain in my leg. Today I'm still on Warfarin , but have to follow a diet that would'nt interfere with the warfarin. Thanks for sharing.

3 months later Im finally getting treatment due to a misdiagnosis. The originally called it a superficial blood clot turns out after 3 long months of suffering with this calf pain it's confirmed that this is in fact a dvt.

I have Protein S Deficiency it was inherited . It’s the protein in the blood that thins it so I have had I can’t even tell ya how many dvt’s and I had 2 pe’s been hospitalized over 20 times starting in 1988 when I was 17 . Clots have destroyed the valves in my veins and I am crippled today because of it .

That's what happened to me I had been having leg cramping but hadn't thought much of it until I ended up in a and e after I had blood clots that went to my lungs. It was a right shock when they told me in a and e that I had that though and they had kept me in overnight and sent me home the following dinnertime with my anticoagulant tablets.
