The deployable turret is really strong, I always bring 4-6 of them to every mission, it's like a mimic beacon with health + armour that can shoot, twice per turn.

Hey guys, I would like to share my theory about the X-Com 3 story with you. Just a note - I consider the X-Com Chimera Squad to be the canon result of the X-Com 2. My theory is based on the quotes from Chosen. Warlock talks about a "true enemy", Assassin talks about "saving the universe", and Hunter also talks about "what the commander saw in the Elder's chamber". What if the disease that the Elders are suffering is not a disease but some biological weapon developed by some even more powerful entities? Now, when Elders are sentenced to inevitable demise, the Earth will be directly targeted by this new threat. The campaign will then involve alien units, as in one of the previous Marbozir games. The strategic layer may extend to different planets as new allies among former Elders species they used. What do you think about it?

Is there a reason not to summon the MEME beacon at the very start of the mission rather than worry about wasting two actions during combat?

You cannot use the "ability" while in concealment. It simply greyed out.
